They recommended one truck and two men to help and it was about $110 an hour plus a truck rental fee. I paid in cash so I got a small discount on the hourly rate. Rather reasonable compared to the other quotes I got. They were great at communicating with me leading up to my moving day as well as the day of. My movers, Dmitri and Bohdan, showed up right on time and were very professional, friendly, and efficient. They helped disassemble my furniture (and put it back together) and wrapped up everything as needed. I even had a giant plant that I wasn't sure how to move, but since I was only going a short distance, they wrapped it up and secured it in the truck to take over. At one point I even got a little emotional about saying goodbye to my old place and they were so sweet to me. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again and can't thank them enough for the help. I feel like most people describe moving as a stressful, but for me it was a breeze.

I should have known something was wrong when I realized a confirmation email was never sent, which I requested. The operator curiously asked me why I would need a confirmation email, but nonetheless assured me one would be sent. It never was. Yesterday, I receive a phone call from Rollins, four days prior to my move. A voicemail was left to call them back. Despite the obvious urgency of this phone call, which at the time I was unaware of, the voicemail did NOT inform me that they would no longer be able to move me. Rollins called me again today to deliver this abysmal news. No compensation for the severe inconvenience was offered. "Sorry" does not amend this situation in the least. Luckily, I found another mover, but for $300 more and one day after the date I intended to move, thus further exacerbating an already stressful situation. Avoid these flakes. Shame on them.

The change is beyond dramatic. We will do more work in other areas in a few months, but right now I'm loving my "new" home. Katie not only helped bring order to a chaotic space, she also taught me along the way. She was sensitive and understanding in sentimental areas, very trustworthy, and she tailored our process to account for my ADHD, even taking that into account in deciding how to arrange things. At one point I had her come in without me bc I was dealing with a space that was not sentimental but challenging to deal worth. When she sent me pictures during the process, at one point I actually stayed to cry happy tears because my new space looked worthy of a mature adult (it was circa "frathouse" pre-Katie). Because she is so easy to talk to, at one point in the prices, we actually discovered a key event/loss that had triggered the problem in the first place. I imagine that is not typical, but it was truly life- changing for me. Don't be embarrassed to let Katie see your clutter. She is not judgemental at all, and she helped me focus on the fact that regardless of how I got here, we were doing the work to improve my space (which has had tremendous effect on my mental health). To walk into my new spaces is so calming, and I enjoy spending time in my home now. I will forever consider Katie not only a gifted, professional organizer, but now, also, a compassionate friend who helped me uncover true peace.

I'm moving from Richmond, Indiana to Manteca, California and after a terrible experience with…read moremovers from Boston/Philly on my move to Florida, I tried PODS. This time, I thought to try ABF because they're a trustworthy freight mover Their containers come in a smaller size than those of PODS. (I'm thinking right now that two of these containers will not hold a 3 bedroom house's contents, per the quote. You can start the quote online, make changes, and even contract for help on either end. After I finished making changes, I called the company with some questions, and as well, to get the process moving. Mark picked up the phone and was friendly and answered the questions reassuringly. It went smoothly, even though I don't have an address at the other end yet. They sent some forms, including one for Gypsy Moths since I'm moving to California. I was told that they charge after they pick up the containers. They asked me to call them when I'm ready to have them picked up. This was confirmed today. There is no early, automatic pick up. However, they have a three day loading period that doesn't cost extra. If you go beyond that, they charge you a storage fee. Since I'm already going to be charged for storage, I think it doesn't matter. Last Friday, they called to set a drop-off time for Monday, and they were closer to the late end of that window, but that's fine. It's better than the Cable company arriving after you return to work, and then, complaining that *you* blew the appointment, right? The driver was friendly and asked where to put the containers. They use a large forklift to move them from the trailer to your selected location, and they have the ability to position them at any of four angles (facing garage, facing away, facing right, facing left). The documentation says to use a flat surface, but a slanted driveway is fine.

I sent my mom and boyfriend and they wouldn't release my things unless I gave an email consent. This would be a 5 star rating if my relo cube was on time for unloading. I got a courtesy call the day of arrival letting me know about the Covid procedure and to call 1 hour before arriving to give time for my cube to be brought to the unloading space. I called 2 hours ahead and after they did the Covid paper and "checked in" they had to wait another 25-30 minutes for them to bring up the cube. The cube was supposed to already be to the front. Other than that, great company and service.

During the move floors were unprotected and gouged and scratched and walls were also scratched and gouged. A 3 piece wall unit was ripped apart without the connecting bolts removed. In addition, 2 of the 6 glass doors were broken. A dryer and freezer were both damaged and the freezer stopped working. Parts were left anywhere. For example, 2 futons were taken apart. At the new house futon parts were found in the garage, some in the kitchen and others in the basement. Shelves to a bookcase were not found. Trash was left behind in our yard after they left. This is not a comprehensive list, just the major highlights. I filed a claim, and almost 4 months later here are the results. The damages to floors and walls cost over $1600 to fix. They offer $0 to repair. The bookcase cost $1100 30 years ago, and $7000 to replicate. They offer $850. The freezer reimbursement offer was $60. I elected $10,000 insurance, but you see the results of my claim submission. Here is Moving Ahead's last reply to me: If you still do not find our current offer to be acceptable, the next step would be to begin the arbitration procedure, as outlined in the documentation you have already received. If you have any questions regarding this process, I would be happy to assist in any way possible.. I then had one of their representatives, at their suggestion, come to my condo to see what and how much I had to move. When the Efficient Moving man came to my condo, I was encouraged to do a "per item" moving cost basis and was told "it would turn out cheaper" than a per hour basis. The man told me that typical totes/boxes were like $3 each to move and he would take an inventory of the furniture, etc. back to the office and give me a quote. When I got the quote, the totes/boxes were $4 each. Plus there was a $200 "Trip Charges" which was not mentioned to me before. They would not disclose what the individual furniture pieces cost to move as that was "proprietary information" so I had no idea how much more a big piece of furniture cost than a smaller piece. I didn't like the whole situation but the move was looming and I felt overwhelmed so I chose to continue with Efficient Moving vs finding another mover. On moving day, three nice gentleman showed up and it took them 3 1/2 hours to complete the move, working at what I would call a normal pace. The total charge was $832.50 or $237 per hour, considerably more than the $180 initially quoted me. It also took the mover an additional half hour to figure out the bill because of their complicated system.
