Having been involved in many higher education conference, training and education facilities, I feel that I am an expert. Through my professional and volunteer experiences, my credentials include being very active in the SigEp Fraternity, Student Government Association, and Interfraternity Council at UNC CHARLOTTE, serving as President of the New York Chapter of the Transportation Research Forum, and being a very active member of the American Public Transportation Association, which took me to conferences and meetings at many higher learning institutions including NJIT, the University of Illinois Chicago, the University of South Florida in Tampa, and the Georgia Tech Conference Center in Atlanta. I have also been to many convention centers and hotel and commercial meeting rooms. Without knowing the pricing, but assuming the NC State McKimmon Center is competitive, I have to say that the facilities are nice and seem to be a good bet for any conference, training exercise, or meeting. The facility has a very nice academic feel while still being inviting to industry, students, and people attending seminars, like me. It strikes a good balance between a professional conference environment and a welcoming campus atmosphere.

Since it's university-owned, I understand that they want to be cost-conscious but it's just not anything that would attract a major conference with an expo. The breakfast and lunch provided were pretty pedestrian, and it would have been nice to have soft drinks other than ice tea. I suppose that's all negotiated in the meeting contracts.

I love the vibe of the parking lot on game day! Everyone is ready to go! And there are plenty of porta potties so you don't have to walk into Lenovo Center each time you've gotta go. The stadium itself has plenty of bathrooms and several stations where you can buy food and drinks. The best is the brew through which has fast and convenient service! They keep ya going fast! And the kettle corn is the perfect sweet and salty snack to go with a good brew. I look forward to many a more games here at Carter Finley.

Being a college stadium…read morethe seats are split between being actual seats and bench seats depending where you are sitting. There are luxury boxes, like a professional stadium, if you want to call them that, that are probably reserved by the various alumni societies. Parking and getting in and out of here can be a bit convoluted. The stadium sits near the PNC arena and the State Highway Patrol and Raleigh PD are well versed in getting traffic in and out of here. Which is great because the local roads around here can be tough to navigate. The often funnel traffic onto Wade Avenue, Western Boulevard, Edward Mill Rd and I-40. I've been here twice in the last two years. Last week was for the NHL Stadium Series. Prior to that it was for my son's high school football team state championship game in 2021 (it poured). Both were great and the organizers did a great job. I added photos from both events that show two different vantage points in the stadium.

We arrived 1.5 hours early, and we were very surprised to see hundreds of people already there. We got to our seats and then decided to grab some dinner. We had looked at the website ahead of time for our options. However, some of the options were not easy to find- for example, the hot dog place is actually inside where the seats and arena is, instead of around the concourse with all the other restaurants. The mac'n'cheese place was on the third floor and a bit confusing to find. However, the bratwurst was delicious, the nachos near section 103 were tasty (the chicken is a bit spicy), and the burnt ends mac'n'cheese is a very generous portion and stays warm all the way back to your seat. The entire arena was very clean, including the bathroom. The attendants everywhere were all nice and very helpful. Getting out was actually really easy as well. There are tons of parking attendants ensuring traffic flows well. We were quite impressed at how smooth the entire experience was.

On the other side of the concession stand, to the left of the entrance is an open rink (could be used for basketball, hockey or the like), where some very close friends of mine and I played rounds of "pro" dodgeball (in the style of pro-dodgeball) until we got to the tournament round and the best team won! Yes, that was the team I played on, mind you, I had about 4 pretty tough guys playing with the two of us ladies that were on the team. I managed to "dodge, dip, duck, dive & dodge" the ball as the pre-training from the movie "Dodgeball" emphasizes. It was a fun time with a great group of people, if you're so brave as schedule yourselves in there and play dodgeball or anything in a team atmosphere, go for it, its an awesome place.

There's ample parking, a snack shack, and courts to the right and left. When I've attended, pretty much every court is in play -- soccer, hockey, and volleyball. You can register a team for a fee and they organize the match-ups for a season's worth of games (a few months). But be warned that some of their games can be scheduled as late as 11pm.
