Interesting place. So I went in for a simple oil change a few days ago. Everything seemed fine. Anthony gave me a call when my truck was ready as recommended that I needed new tires and a corrosion cleaning on my battery. Besides that, he said the fluids were topped off, the battery looked good, and everything was fine. Great. I spent the extra $22 on the cleaning cause what the heck... it's $20 and preventative. I figured I'd hold on the tires and watch for better deals. The next day I'm driving my truck to pick up some food. As I get back in the car It doesn't start. At this point.. I was pretty freaked out. I don't really believe in sheer bad luck. As I try to pop open my hood, the latch is broken (weird). After many phone calls later, Anthony (the tech in Webster) gets another tech at the Brentwood location to help (my truck broke down closer to them). As we manually pop the hood open in the middle of a parking lot the first thing I notice is the corrosion on my battery..... not a good sign. After some basic diagnostic, the tech from Brentwood said that It was most likely a dead cell in the battery. Good thing I was next to a Menards.. so I dropped a few pretty pennies on. a Brand new battery. BAM started up no problem. Here's why this location gets three stars: They obviously did not conduct the corrosion service that I paid extra for. They most likely did not check the battery for life (as you could see a defective cell). I'm not sure if my latch was broken before or after my service was conducted... but I truly don't believe the only time I open my hood it broke. Nonetheless, you'd figure that they'd at least inform me. My fluids were not topped off (like they said they were - wiper fluid was completely out). The only reason they are not getting 2 stars is because of Anthony. He was kind enough to apologize about the corrosion and offered a $22 discount on my next oil change. Overall, I probably just needed a new battery and hood latch. These are all part of basic maintenance that I don't mind shelling out for as long as I know about the issue. However, I have do have an issue when someone says that they checked something when they didn't, when they didn't provide a service they said they did, or didn't fill something they didn't filled. If you do choose this Dobbs, throw your hood open to make sure everything looks okay before leaving.... I guess that's probably good practice anyways.. read more

I recently went to Dobbs as I have for the past 20 plus years but I noticed I had some money and gift cards missing from my glove box in my car I just bought the gift cards and I just shoved it my glove box and the person that worked on my car his name is Tommy I have course can't prove that he took my items though that's the only place I went after purchasing them and oddly I was talking to a neighbor who had the same thing happened to her a week prior we both called Dobbs and spoke to who I'm assuming was the manager with our complaints and it's just incredible that this happened to me after she called to complain about someone stealing out of her car prior to my incident. I will never go there again in fact another neighbor went afterwards and this person is still employed there I would like to know if their employees are bonded ,fingerprinted, if their records are checked upon hiring them ? they are going into people's personal property and if they have a thief there which they obviously do I do not understand why nothing is being done!!.Shame on them for not protecting their customers. Sadly they have some very good loyal employees there that I fully trust but as far as management not doing anything about a thief I don't know should Webster please get involved they would if this happen in any other business read more

HORRIBLE experience and service!! Took my vehicle in for a "battery" check, next thing I was being told I need new tires, when I refused I was told the next morning before I picked up my vehicle that I needed a new starter! I have 23k miles on my vehicle it's a 2020. I was completely ripped off, when I inquired as to why I needed a starter, etc. I was basically blown off. I will NEVER use them again, nor will I EVER recommend them. It's a long drawn story, but none the less I was totally ripped off 1k and will continue to deter anyone from using them. read more

Don't go here. Took my car for tire rotation and oil change. Took a photo of the tires before just to make sure since I'm going on a long trip. When I checked, the tires hadn't changed. I went back in and the guy told me to wait and they would 'work me back in' to 'fix it'. Waited - nothing - so I left and went somewhere else. The kicker is I bought my tires there so this is their 'free' service they use as a selling point. Now I wonder if they even changed my oil! I've had a lot of maintenance there as well and they ALWAYS try to upsell you in things you don't need. I'll never go back, and for your safety and care for your car I recommend you stay away too. read more

I went here for a simple oil fix and when I picked it up. The price was well above what they told me. Before I was able to drive it off the lot, multiple sensors on my wheels starting going off so I went back in and they said they'd take a look. It turns out they busted multiple sensors when they jacked it up yet blamed it on me. They charge me $2k to have it all fixed and about a week later my car broke down again on the highway. This time I went somewhere else and they told me that this dobbs essentially messed up not only my oil by not putting the cap back on but also put on the wrong tire sensors as well. The other shop thank god fixed it for about $1k. When I went back no accountability was taken. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. If your car breaks down by then, start watching YouTube videos, you'd have better luck than taking it to these people read more

I had a flat tire, dropped it off at Yorkshire dobbs. it wasn't fixable but John was able to get me an appointment the next day and got me into a couple of tires I could afford. As well as a front end alignment I had been desperately needing for months and a safety emissions inspection. I'm very pleased with the service i received at a value I was able to afford. I brought our Aveo in for free Alignment check on Saturday. We planned to pick the car up on Monday morning. I understood the check is free. Any work or adjustments would be cost. The Dobbs manager I delt with said to pre pay $70.00 incase the vehicle needed any adjustments. He also said the Alignment mechanic is off today, but the other mechanic can do it. I arrived Monday to pick up the car. (HEADQUARTERS Located in High Ridge) The same manager I delt with on Saturday was who I spoke to. He said my car ( I bought it new) had accident damage and couldn't be aligned!? Their mechanic didn't make ANY adjustments at all. The manager refused to refund my $70.00! The mechanic did NO ADJUSTMENTS to the Toe, Caster or Camber. We have owned the car since New! I took the home. Got my level and set the Camber myself. Took the car back to DOBBS HEADQUARTERS IN HIGH RIDGE. The same manager met me at the service counter. I asked for a COURTESY ALIGNMENT CHECK. He sent my car to the Alignment rack. The regular Alignment mechanic was on duty. He didn't have to adjust ANYTHING! The car was perfect! Had this mechanic been working when I brought my car in the first time, he would have known EXACTLY how to adjust it. I STILL DID NOT GET MY $70.00 BACK. EVEN THOUGH NO ADJUSTMENTS WERE MADE!!! I bought a new set of tires from a dealer, when I had a problem with one of the tires after only 10,000 miles, the dealer was no help at all to me. They could not even get a matching replacement. Dobbs-Yorkshire took care of it right away, got me a match and got Michelin to pay for some of the cost. Solved in one day. Learned a lesson to never by tires from an auto dealer, even if it seems to be a good deal. read more

Complete crooks. Had a screw in my tire, I told them the exact tire AND I marked the tire and where the screw was. I left after service was "done" and found they did not remove the screw. When I returned a couple hours later, the manager said they fixed something, must have been a second screw, and I could make another appointment to fix the original screw issue. I asked them to show me the second screw location, he refused to show me where they "fixed" the other screw in my tire. He was pretty ignorant about it all too. read more

crooks.. wanted me to replace my tires after 2 months.. came in with needing a headlight replaced and somehow all 4 of my tires we're worn and they needed to run a whole diagnostic for replacing light bulbs...estimate 750 dollars. I took it to a different mechanic, johnson and Johnson's autocare about a half mile away.. they replaced the bulbs said tires were in great shape, alignment was great, no need for diagnostic, replaced bulbs and was done in 15 minutes.. 37 dollars.. do not go here to Dobbs. read more

My sister went in for 2 tires but was talked into 4. The guy selling her the tires was her best friend. Told her all about the service and how Dobbs would make it right. Three days later she got a flat as she pulled into a gas station right across the street from the Dobbs she just bought the tires from. She was pregnant at the time and was having trouble putting the spare on, when out of the station walked the very person that sold her the tires. He had coffee for the guys and my sister saw him and asked him for help. He blew her off and said he couldn't help. She calls me and I take off work to go help her. I put on the spare and follow her across the street as she gets her flat fixed. When I asked why he couldn't help a pregnant woman put on a spare, he told me it wasn't covered by their insurance. When I called corporate and inquired about that policy, they said it wasn't against the rules and would take care of it. I never heard another word from them. No apology, no nothing. We brought our daughters car in yesterday to check shaking issues during highway driving. We had no idea what to expect. Dobbs looked very busy and we are out of town visitors for less than 24 hours. They were able to identify the problem, fix it before closing and Mike even stayed 15 minutes last closing time to allow us to finish site seeing and pick up the car. Shady place trying to squeeze every penny. Came back from a road trip from Chicago, wife's car was shaking and progressively got worse next day driving around town. Check engine light was on, but am aware because I've dealt w this light before because I took it to advance auto where they tell you what the light is on for for FREE! So I tell dobbs car is shaking. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know it's tire, suspension related causing it to shake. They plugged in their diagnostic machine and told me what I already knew from advanced auto parts and charge 134$. Said I needed a new catalytic converter. Quoted us $1600 about random stuff that had nothing to do with the shaking. Never had an answer for why car was shaking. I'm a pretty handy guy myself but just am too busy. I took a look myself and found one of the axle boot was torn and all the grease had came out. Ordered both passenger and driver side axles and had them replaced elsewhere and now my wife's car is solid. NO THANKS TO DOBBS. So if you want to get charged for every little thing that won't solve your initial problem, Dobbs it the place to go. read more

I went to this Dobbs to get a flat tire repaired and my car inspected. The tire was even off the car. They said the tire could not be repaired due to the amount of damage. I figure no problem, I will just get a new one. It turns out they didn't have any in stock in the area so they would have to order. This came to be a little bit of a problem as I take 44-70 to work. I was not about to go on the highway with my doughnut spare. I decide to have them order it for me anyway. Fot the inspection tried to fail me for my rotors not within spec and my spare being on the car. I knew the spare would fail, but the rotors on the car were exactly 1 week old. Once I told hte guy at the counter that I asked him to take me to the shop and show me the thickness measurement being preformed. He informed me that customers were not allowed in the shop(although he had called 2 customers into the shop while I was sitting there waiting). Fine, I figure no big deal when I come back for the tire they will retest and hopefully the guy will do it correctly. I get my car back and drive the ~1.5m home. As I get close to home my car gets an odd vibration. I make it home and check my wheels to find that my lug nuts are only hand tight. I call up the dobs irate, and all the guy says to me is you should really check your car before you pick it up from a shop. I ended up canceling my tire order and calling up their office only to get the blow off there too. In the end I saved about $100 by canceling my order from them and going with Discount Tire Direct with Walmart mounting/balancing. read more

This is the best Dobbs location I've dealt with by a mile, and I've lived in STL my entire life. Mike at the front counter has now provided me with new tires after flats in under 2 hours each, without a hitch. Mike also went out of his way during the 2nd replacement to apply Dobbs' roadside warranty on my prior tire set purchase, which I found professional and of splendid integrity. The front counter is quick as well, always a plus. I have never once had a poor experience, whether dropping off or waiting. The hours are great (open until 8 PM weekdays), as well. They do emissions tests too, quickly and efficiently. Those of us from STL know emissions can be somewhat of an adventure, so this service is an added bonus. I certainly recommend if you need tires or emissions work in the Webster Groves, Marlborough, or Shrewsbury neighborhoods. read more

If it were possible to give a zero star review I would. I took my truck in to be looked at because the AC was blowing hot. I waited about an hour while they ran the diagnostics on it ($29.99). The mechanic told me that it needed two new hoses that came into the top of the AC unit, because there were tears in them and when they filled it with Freon it just sprayed out everywhere, not to mention these were dealer parts only. He said it would take about 3 days to get and that with the parts (two hoses $450 before tax), labor and Freon I was looking at a little over $853 dollars. I had them back the truck out and I took it home. I had it looked at by someone else that evening only to find out that there was nothing wrong with the actual hoses, the O rings that seal the hoses to the top of the unit were bad, I had the O rings replaced and filled it with Freon (less than 100 dollars total) and the air blows cold! It has been blowing ice cold for over a week with no leaks! Is it because I am a female and they see an opportunity, is it because they do this to all customers, or is it because the mechanic clearly didn't know what he was doing? These questions may never be answered. However, to think that you go in on good faith in hopes they are honest with you, only to find out they were going to take you for things you never truly needed is absurd, not to mention upsetting. Long story short, my truck has been fixed for less than $100 dollars and I am appalled with a shop that should know better! I will never do business with any Dobbs again! read more

Took my father's car in for an inspection. They came back and said the power steering fluid had a leak. (My father has never had a problem with this. Not to mention / he took excellent care of his car.). They gave us a very expensive quote to fix it and we of course failed the inspection. Took the car to a small family owned auto shop in Webster Groves, with a VERY good reputation of being trustworthy, and guess what??? No power steering fluid leak!!! Needed the tires rotated and a front end alignment. When I called to make the appintment I was quoted a price of 29.95 for the rotation and 109.?? for the alignment. Before the alignment I was then told I would be charged $50.00 more for them to reset the steering angle. When I asked for a better explaination, I was told "What's to explain?" I refused the alignment and was then charged $39.95 for the rotation. By that time I was too mad to protest. This is a company wide poicy to charge $50.00 more to resent something that only needs to be reset because they aligned the tires. Crazy read more

I've been to this location in the past and have found the guys at the counter to be very nice and helpful. My recent experience had nothing to do with them. I needed a very simple service for my car - change out four safety lug-nuts on my tires with four new lug-nuts which I supplied for them from the dealer. Dobbs said they could do this, but there were no appointments available that day or the next so I should bring my car in and leave it and they'd get around to it. The guy on the phone also said to talk to anyone when I went in and they could help me. He gave me a quote for the cost. I took my car in the next day. I told the gentleman behind the counter what I needed. He said sure we can do that, and he wrote up a ticket for the service. The price he came up with was lower than the price the guy on the phone quoted the day before. At the time I didn't think anything of it and just assumed he understood what I needed and how much they should charge me. They did the work, I went back to get my car and was greeted by a very angry man who came out from the work area to harass me about the lower price I was charged. He actually came out on the floor, walked right up to me like he was purposely trying to intimidate me and kept saying "remember me, remember me, remember me?" over and over. He also kept repeating his name over and over, but I won't use it in this review. It's enough to say that bullying customers because they weren't charged enough is absurd. I'll never go back and neither will anyone in my family. read more

I recently took my vehicle in for a state safety inspection. Shortly after dropping it off I received a call from Mike who was one of the mechanics. He told me that my vehicle needed a new serpentine belt, as well essay right front bearing. He quoted me a price of $800 for the belt and the bearing. What mic failed to realize was that I had for new tires and an alignment at national tire and battery to days prior. During that tire installation national tire and battery did a 20 point plus inspection. There inspection did not find anything wrong with the wheel bearings or they would have tried to sell me a hub assembly. I went as far as to call national tire and battery and ask them to pull my paperwork. The manager pulled my paperwork and noted that nothing was wrong with my bearings. He admitted it that if anything was wrong with my bearings he would have tried to sell me new hubs. With this information I went to another reputable State inspections site, which past my vehicle. After the vehicle was passed I explained that Dobbs, and Mike the mechanic, claimed that I had a bad right front Bearing. The new mechanic said that he physically grabbed all the hubs on my vehicle in non-movement. He told me that Dobbs has a reputation for this honesty under the new management since the founder of the company has passed away. With Mike the mechanic at Dobbs does not realize is that not only do I take my personal vehicles to Dobbs, but I also take the fleet vehicles from my employer to Dobbs. After being blatantly lied to I will never take my personal vehicles or work vehicles to Dobbs again. On a sidenote a hub for my vehicle is $75, and a serpentine belt is $30. To remove the hub for my vehicle you simply remove the tire, Remove the caliber,loosen Two bolts, remove one hub, replace with new hub. It's about a 30 minute job and they quoted me $800. Dobbs has lost all my respect. read more
