We started bringing our vehicles here a few years ago when my son needed a quick safety inspection to get his car relicensed while he was home on winter break. Benchmark was able to get him in and get the inspection completed within a few hours so we could get the plates renewed before he needed to go back to school. Went to have a muffler repair. Left thinking it was good but still had a lot of noise. Scheduled to have it looked at again but they didn't get to it until the day after. Didn't tell me they weren't doing it that day so they kept it overnight without letting me know. Next day found out they didn't install the flange gasket with the first repair. I've had good luck there getting an oil change and an inspection. That's where the good luck stops. You make appointments. They can't keep them. I brought the auto in for a noise it was making. They fixed something else to the amount of $3,700. The noise is still there. They assured me that the noise was not dangerous but now, I question if they know it's dangerous or not. Bad taste in my mouth... In response to the owner, This is the FOURTH TIME that I've been told to come by and your business has told me that they cannot work on the vehicle that day, as you promised. Somehow, it's MY fault that my family needs our car and offended you by picking it up? And since you've decided to make this personal, how about the three weeks it took to just get a part for my vehicle and then the repair being pushed off for another week? (This is part that didn't even fix the original issue.) How many times have I come by and had to go home again after being promised the work on that day. How about texting me the snarky response this afternoon just because I came by to pick up my car that I needed? I wrote a factual review. I was being genuine. But you decided to show everyone how irresponsible that you truly are by blaming your customer instead of owning the issue. And then using my mobile phone number to send me the snarky text, after hours. How mature of you. I owned a small business and wanted to support another small business. It certainly won't be yours any longer after your childish actions. read more

I took my truck there because it was going through antifreeze. They did a pressure test and said it was leaking by the turbos on the one side. They said they recommend replacing both lines. At a cost of $1800. He said we have to take the turbos to do it and was timely. I didn't have them do the work, but I took it to the dealership and they found that the top clamp was loose and was a 2 minute fix. So this being said means they were trying to steal from me, and no one should ever take their vehicle there. Makes me wonder how many people they rip off daily. read more

This place will scam you and the employees extremely rude. I made an appointment for an alignment and I was told if I could leave the car with them later in the week that they could get it done. I called to chaeck on my car and I was told they did not know if they could get to it. It does not take a long time for an alignment, so I was a little shocked that they could not get to it with 12 hours. At the end of the day, I was told they could not align the car and tried to tell me that I needed to replace parts. I picked up my care and took it to Firestone. Those employees were able to align my car and was extremly nice and helpful. Save yourself time and money and go somewhere else. read more

I came in because my battery light came on. I wanted a check up and to fix anything needed fixing. It was Saturday morning and everyone else was booked. The great reputations they have were met and exceeded. Great customer service, Eric personally showed me what was wrong with my engine and they fixed my vehicle even though they were clearly swamped with customers already. I had an appointment for an inspection. I arrived 10 minutes early and was told my car would be ready in 30 minutes. I left and came back 1 hour later and my car hadn't even been touched; it was still in the parking lot. So I left and got a call 45 minutes later saying it was ready. Almost 2 hours for an scheduled inspection. Also, there are no Coronavirus safeguards, when I arrived to pick up my car the employee was not wearing a mask, two customers were in the waiting area with no masks, no protection barrier when checking out and then the employee gives me a pen which someone else had already used. St Louis County requires mask. The employee Jeff had a terrible attitude as well. Will not be back. read more

So far, it's been 3 good experiences - reasonable prices and haven't recommended unneeded services (my husband knows what work needs to be done, just doesn't always have time to do it). Eric was particularly helpful and friendly. I went here for an oil change and had a good experience. There was only one mechanic working so I had to wait a bit, but that's my fault I didn't make an appointment. Considering the line in front of me, it was pretty speedy. The mechanic, I think his name was Gary, was very friendly. I used the Groupon promo going on, it went smoothly. Gary told me briefly what was wrong with my car, but he didn't push any issues or try to scare me. My car has a LOT of miles on it and maybe he just realized that I wasn't going to spend money fixing up minor issues or maybe he's not pushy in general. Extremely rude employees working here. I called a year ago to make an appointment for my boyfriend who needed to get his safety and emissions inspection. I had to call 3 different times over a period of 2 days before somewhere finally answered the phone. The guy who answered sounded annoyed to be on the phone. I told him I wanted to schedule an appointment for my boyfriend to get an inspection on his truck and he told me to call back later because he was extremely busy. My boyfriend decided to take his truck elsewhere. Now it is a year later and time for my vehicle to be inspected. I have called twice and even sent an email to get an appointment for my car. It's been 5 days and I haven't gotten a return call so I called Leach Service in Rock Hill who immediately answered and said they can get me in as early as today. read more

Overcharges on parts. Charged $32 for an air filter. $49.96 for 2 gallons of anti freeze. $71.88 for transmission fluid. $43.74 on transmission filter. Over $450 for transmission and coolant flush. I was told "we need to make money on parts." read more

We were staying at a hotel across the highway and a power steering hose sprung a major leak in the parking lot (lucky us, could have happened on the highway in the middle of nowhere). We showed up at Benchmark just after they opened the next morning with the normal trepidation of going to a mechanic you don't know. What a pleasant surprise! Service was top notch, prompt, and reasonably priced. Burt even went the extra mile to facilitate us to go get breakfast when we learned that there wasn't anything within walking distance. I have been bringing my cars to Benchmark for several years. The one thing that stands out each time is their "Honesty". Their prices have always been competitive. One time I compared auto tire on the Internet to their price ......Benchmark was even competitive with them. When water was coming into my car I was pretty sure I would need a heater core...The manager looked at it ...cleaned out a line while I was parked on their lot and it was fixed..He told me no charge! How often does that happen at an auto repair place. Just today I took my car in because it was making a noise that I just knew was the struts or ball joints gone bad after 90000 miles. Benchmark's mechanics took it for a ride....put it on the rack....told me it was a loose nut on top of one of the struts. He tightened it and the owner happened to be there and sent me on my way...The car was fixed. They could have charged me for a new strut or who knows what. They didn't. They were honest. The action by the owner today let me know where they got the honesty way of doing business from. My neighbor also goes there and told me she had similar experiences with them. read more
