The seasonal tune-up was very cheap in Maine, but each year they actually made my mower worse. So when I brought the replacement mower to PA in 2019, I used it to mow my lawn throughout 2020. Toward the end of the season, the blade had begun literally tearing up the lawn rather than cutting it. I decided to get a tune up ahead of the 2021 spring season, and I compared prices - Although all of the locations asked for more than I was used to paying, South Hills Mower had the best price, the quickest turnaround, and the most confidence of anyone I spoke to. So, I brought it in. They gave it a tune up and replaced one of the filters. I don't know how long it had been since the filter had been replaced, but it clearly needed it. They also sharpened the blade and did all the other spring tune-up stuff that needed to be done. Not only did they not make it worse like the idiots who did my tune-ups in Maine, but it operates so much more efficiently now. It doesn't tear up the lawn - it cuts. Before the tune-up, I could mow roughly 2/3 of the lawn before it would run out of gas and I had to fill the tank back up. Now I mow the entire lawn on one fill up and still have enough to mow an additional 1/3 of the lawn next week! They essentially doubled my fuel economy with their amazing tune-up. In general, I find the costs of these tune-ups to be prohibitive. I can get a new 21 in cut deck walk behind mower with a Briggs & Stratton engine from Home Depot for around $200, so paying $75-$90 for a tune-up seems a little excessive. But the work that South Hills Mower does is worth the price if you don't want to buy a new mower every 2-3 years (I don't.) You won't likely find workmanship this good at this price anywhere else in the South Hills. I recommend this business highly.

The 'warranty' repair shop that Greenworks first referred me to told me it'd be three weeks before they could even look at the mower. Well, that's not going to work when the lawn is already starting to look like some kind of a wild nature diorama. Enter Steel City Mower & Plow. These guys knew right away what my mower's problem was, they got me in right away, fixed it right away, and were even able to take care of all of the repairs as covered under warranty. They're friendly and easy to talk to. Very happy! Pro tip: When you come in from Library Road, go down the driveway in between the buildings; they're in the back on the lower level.

I was told Brian would call me back. A week later I call back, they tell me they "just" received my part and they could fix it. No apologies, and no reasons why no one ever contacted me. Told them I would just pick up my item and take it elsewhere, Bill tells me "but I just told you we have your part". Also tells me when I tell him it's ridiculous I didn't hear from anyone in over a month "I agree to disagree". They look like you do plenty of business, so taking my business elsewhere won't really affect them, but I just couldn't give them my business. There's a ton of competition out there, I'd suggest finding elsewhere to go.

When I came to pick up here's the excuses "we are backed up with mowers" "we tend to give priority to equipment purchased here". I have purchased a snowblower and mower from them Annnd a chainsaw and it was like they could care less about a customer. A customer for YEARS! Gah. And lady of the store was happy to give me a "have a nice day". 3 months no phone call "well we can't call everyone we'd be on the phone for hours" ok i came in to check over a month ago... nothing. This is the second time they've done this to me I should've learned but they are nice people. The "lady"?of the store seemed to think this was completely reasonable to take equipment and never communicate with the owner. This is a bad business and i recommend going anywhere else that has any level of courtesy and professionalism. They made it very clear they didn't care that they had my equipment for so long or that i had been a customer for years, they just defended being bad at their gig.

STAY AWAY! about a month ago my riding mower wasn't…read morestarting right. it would smoke and rumble heavy for about 30 seconds and shut off. I explained this problem to the men I spoke with dropping it off (on a Wednesday ). they said they were busy and would call me the beginning of the following week with an estimate on cost. There was also a $40 non refundable deposit just to have it looked at. So not only did I not receive a call back from the at the beginning of the following week, he didn't call until the following week. That is 2 weeks just for a diagnosis. They then proceed to tell me that there is so much work that needs done to my tractor that it isn't worth fixing. So I was frustrated to say the least. I decide to look for a new place t take my tractor, considering it ran fine not 2 days before I took it to them. I find an older guy that works on tractors. he explains that I just have too much gas in my oil, and told me. how to fix it myself in 10 minutes...these guys are just looking to hit you over the head or at least hit you for $40. oh and if you don't want to waste your time with your apparently now worthless (but most likely completely okay) machine they are kind enough to just take it to the scrap yard for you...and make more money ..these guys give tradesmen a bad name.

This company can do better. They seem to have more employees than they actually need. This review would have been much better if not for ONE FACTOR: most people at the parts desk are INCAPABLE of SMILING or adequately acknowledging and thanking you. Stopping in is a de-energizing experience all around. Perhaps they think they're the only game in town. They're not. This is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. They don't respond to emails or phone…read morecalls. I ordered from them on November 14th, and they haven't sent me anything since. I have no idea what's happening with my order or when it will arrive. I tried calling and emailing them on November 29th, but received no response until December 1st. I emailed them again, and they told me there was a delay from the company and the product would be available in nine days. I told them I wanted to cancel my order, but received no reply. The next day, December 2nd, they replied saying my order had been canceled and the money would be refunded to my account within two days. To this day, they haven't refunded the money. I emailed them yesterday and today, and still no response. I have never dealt with such terrible customer service in my life. They are the worst, without a doubt.
