When I went outside to go to work the next morning the skirting at one end of the house was completely gone, just lying on the ground. I posted an ad on yelp as I have in the past. Dirk responded and I asked for an estimate of the work to level the home and repair the skirting. Dirk showed up the next day prepared to work. He introduced himself and described his years of experience with mobile home leveling specifically but also home construction in general. I scheduled a total of 3 estimates. I'm sure that if you're reading this you know that it is not easy to find a professional for mobile home re-leveling. I selected him based on the conversation that we had and it seemed clear that he understood what was needed. He returned 2 days later at the scheduled time and started working. The first day I could not tell if the house was leveling or not. The house sits on a fairly steep incline and for the last year that I've been in this unit there was a line from the south end of the house that ran nearly the entire length of the house basically bisecting the bedroom and kitchen as well as part of the living room while the front half of the house (including the kitchen) sagged a bit. On the second day when I got home from work I immediately noticed that the bedroom and kitchen were no longer sagging. When I went to bed my bed felt perfectly level. I felt so much relief as I had gotten so used to the house being slanted slightly. I walked into the kitchen and saw the difference immediately. It was evening at that point so I text and let him know that I could feel the difference. He said that he'd come back to make some fine adjustments and he wanted to check again from inside to make sure he got it right. Not only that. A previous contractor that was hired prior to me moving in had removed some of the insulation around the pipes and did not replace it. Dirk was kind enough to point this out, explain why it was necessary and provide insulation and replace it. Apparently the owner was aware of this as well. He rebuilt and re-enforced the skirting by framing it with plywood and then somehow securing it to the concrete. He came back a final time to make adjustments to the leveling and skirting and I left for work that day while he worked. When I returned home I immediately saw that the door the was having trouble opened and closed perfectly. He had not even come inside that day. This man is a wizard with this type of work. He seems to genuinely be a great person and for the price that he quoted, both I and the landlord believe that it was worth every penny. My landlord has already rehired him for another job. He does what he says he's going to do and he clearly knows exactly what he is doing and that is what matters. If you need leveling, skirting or framing I can attest that I think you'd be wise to hire this guy.

Denver Decks just completed the work on our new deck. From the very start to the finish the…read moreproject has been great. The new deck replaced an old wooden deck that had seen it's better days. The understructure of the old deck was beginning to fail and the understructure supports the roof that covers most of the deck. Before hiring Denver Decks to do the job we used AI to recommend good deck companies in the Denver area. We contacted four companies, three responded and Denver Decks was one of those three. Our deck is 17' x 20' and the estimates to do the job were similar. We were promptly contacted and set up a meeting with Paul Koehn from Denver Decks. We met with Paul and quickly realized that he was much more that just a salesman for the company. He had built many decks before moving into sales so his knowledge of what is needed for a new deck was extensive, readily available, and we actually enjoyed discussing our project with him. Paul also indicated that Denver Decks always complies with the codes and permit process that exists for such projects in Denver. One of the companies that we contacted said that they do not pull permits for work in Denver and if something goes wrong during the process it would be our fault! Paul had lots of photos of other projects that Denver Decks had completed. The photo collection was extensive, well organized, and included pictures of stairs, railings, deck surfaces and lights that have been used in other projects. It really made it easier for us to decide what we wanted for our deck. After deciding on what we wanted for our deck the deconstruction of the old deck began and we got to meet/talk with Jay (project manager), Mike (site manager) and Jim, the craftsman for our deck. The communication throughout the project was great! The roof, that covered most of the 17'x20' deck, was supported by three 4"x4" posts that were set upon the deck surface that was supported by two 2"x8" boards on edge. I was very nervous that the aging understructure might fail and drop the roof onto the deck. Denver Decks installed 3 caissons to support the new 6"x6" posts that would now support the roof and 3 added caissons to support the outer edge of the deck. Each cement caisson was 19" in diameter and 36" deep. My worries about the roof falling ceased to exist! After the old deck was removed Jim began to build the new deck. I do not have words that can adequately express how impressed we were with the craftsmanship, construction knowledge and care that Jim displayed in building our deck. The skill that he displayed in all aspects of the construction were amazing and the best that I've ever witnessed in all of the projects that I've ever hired or been around. He built our deck the way that I would've built it if I had his knowledge, skill, equipment and his many years of construction experience! Thank you Jim! Such decks are not cheap and the price for Denver Decks to do the job was similar to that of the company that said they would not pull permits! Building a deck is one of those many situations in life where you truly do, "get what you paid for" and we didn't pay a cent until the job was finished to our satisfaction.
