I chose to go to Doc Brown's because of his mission statement about not wanting to overcharge people who don't know much about cars, and for the awesome reviews in Yelp. I got better service than I've ever received anywhere! I had gotten stuck over night in Salem due to car issues and had found him in Yelp the next morning. I did have to call many times, but Doc is a husband and wife operation, so they are busy. However, he called me back and fit me into his schedule, problem solved my bent hood and pushed-in front of my car, and gave me super helpful advice on topping the oil in my very old car. My dad had followed me out to Doc's garage because I wasn't sure my car would make it, and we listened to what Doc was telling me. Dad said I had received such great service and was fortunate to have such an experienced mechanic take the time to explain what was going on with my car. I'm a little embarrassed to say, I didn't know that many old cars need to be topped with oil between the 3,000 miles mark. That explained the sound my car was making and how it felt driving. Though I was embarrassed, I never felt talked down to by Doc. (Ladies, take your car here!) The other problem with my car was that I had gotten into a fender bender on my way to Salem and was unable to unlatch my hood. We left Doc's for an hour and came back after receiving his call. Doc had somehow managed to smooth the hood and get it to unlatch and latch again. This was amazing because the problem wasn't just with my hood, but with the whole front of my car. It had been pushed in 3 or more inches pinching the radiator. What Doc charged for his work was so reasonable, I was dismayed. I would drive from Portland to Keizer to have Doc work on my car. I started taking my car (2017 Toyota Highlander) to Doc Brown's Auto about 6 months ago because I needed brakes. I was very pleased with the price and the service I received. I was able to take my car in, in the morning, and have it done in a few hours. My daughter recently needed brakes on her VW Rabbit, and I took her car to Doc Brown's and had her brakes replaced. Again, the brakes were done quickly, and at a very reasonable price. If you're looking for an honest, dependable, and knowledgeable auto tech, this is the place to go. Just be aware that this isn't like a regular garage or dealer's waiting room. There's nowhere to sit and wait for your car, so you'll have to have someone pick you up and then take you back for your car when it's finished. He saved my daughter from pouring her savings into a masked safety hazard lemon (w/many electrical and computer issues) that would've likely had its rear wheel(s) come off down the freeway ....and I'll let you fill in the horrible possibilities... As a woman who knows nothing about cars and fears getting fucked over by mechanics based on my ignorance I have never been so grateful to find Doc. He is the epitome of a family man and explains things to me in a way that I can understand so I'm not blindly accepting my fate. Doc has fixed my 1999 Toyota Camry twice now, once he got my heater working again which is essential in Oregon and now he has got my car running smooth again when it was previously violently shaking during acceleration. His prices are beyond fair and he is keeping my old ass car alive. He even refers to my car by his name (Fizz) and I would never go anywhere else for any mechanic services. Work truck (F-350) would start but would not accelerate. Initially, Doc was helpful over the phone, in suggesting possible causes of the problem. We had just moved back from the east coast, so most of my diagnostic equipment was in transition. I had the truck towed to the shop and within the day Doc identified the problem and offered a solution. Turned out to be a burnt throttle body sensor, replaced and works good. I was concerned about some other minor potential problems, Doc checked them out and indicated they did not need to be addressed at this time. We were on a road trip through Oregon and we suddenly got a check engine light. It was Sunday afternoon and we thought we were screwed, until we yelped and found Dr. Brown's garage. He was good enough to see us on short notice, and given that we were passing through, prioritized us by quickly diagnosing what the problem was, and got us back on the road with a minimal charge. He knows what he's doing, he's honest and his pricing is very reasonable. Most importantly, he does great quality work. I phoned Doc Brown's, got voice mail, left a message, and never heard back. I phoned again a few days later, he answered, and half an hour later I was there and he was diagnosing the problem. He sent me to O'Reilly Auto Parts in Salem to pick up the part. When I got back he installed it for a very reasonable price, and that solved the problem. My impression is that he's in business partly to have a chance to talk with people, so if you just want the work done with minimal chat-chat, this shop might not be the best match. read more

He even walked me through buying some of the parts online for a cheaper price and made sure I got the right ones. I checked around the Salem area, checked the reviews for Doc Brown and he was gave the best quote for a repair that some local shops had at $110 or more for the same repair. He actually did the repair faster then what was estimated, so the actual repair ended up being $150 vs original estimate of $240 vs $350 for local shops. Got the info off of FB and so many people recommended them. I gave them a try since they have free estimates. They are available evenings or weekends and come to you! Which is awesome when having kids compared to shops when waiting around to have you car checked is something i hated doing but I love tht they come to you. They were so nice and very professional and gave us a base quote. We booked with them in the next few days to fix our air conditioning and everything was done quick and we were able to pay with our card since they have a portable machine. I don't even know where to start I was devastated in an underground parking garage I got ready to leave the ABC fluid in my car had drained out and I could not or did not want to start it for fear of causing more damage after much deliberation and contemplation finally had it towed to my house. Because none of the shops that I had called sounded like a place I wanted to take my car so frustrating I did not want to have to tow it all over the place to find a shop to diagnose and get the work done. Absolutely wonderful. Had trouble with 1995 Ford F150 pickup. Wouldn't start off and on, Had a tune up but It evidently wasn't the problem. It decided decided to quit working parked in the Salem hospital parking lot, Called AAA they tried to jump start, didn't work and they did not have any diagnostic equipment and it couldn't be towed due to the 6ft9in ceiling. I found Doc on yelp the next day when I looked for a mobile mechanic. i called and he was able to come by in the evening which worked out well because the parking lot wasn't as crowded so he was able to park beside the truck. He came with a smile and ready to help with the frustrating problem. He was very familiar with the older Ford and it was exciting to see how he new what to check in order to isolate the problem.
