Took our vehicle in to check out our lights,..burning out. While in the waiting room..I became very impressed with our chosen repair shop. On the phone, our mechanic is honestly explaining to a customer that investing money into the repair is not a good mechanical choice. Better that he seek out another vehicle to purchase. Isn't this the type of mechanic one needs to have, instead of not saying anything? Other mechanics would just take the money, do the repair, and the customer would end up paying in the future for additional costly repairs. We're sticking with these mechanics. Outstanding service. Had car towed last second of thurs. Next business day, diagnosed. Fixed in 1/2 of a day. Picked car up with out paying. Shop said to try it out over weekend and bring back if any issues. Pay on Monday if no issues. Had same initial problem 10 min after leaving shop. Took back Friday night. Left over weekend. Prob totally fixed by shop Monday by afternoon. No issues since. Very dependable shop, willing to extend final payment until things were totally fixed. Fast, friendly and reliable. AVOID BROTHERS AUTOMOTIVE! I took my dodge van in to get a new alternator. They charged me $500. When I went to pick it up, the manager informed me that, as a favor, they also had installed a new belt. I thanked them and left. Immediately, I started having problems with my van overheating. I couldn't even make it to work or the store without stopping to let the van cool down. I had NEVER had a problem with that before. In all of my research online, problems with the belt can cause overheating. When I went in and complained, they said that the pipe was half clogged and they would fix it for $1500! But if that was true, I would have had problems before. They were obviously trying to take advantage of me since I'm a young, single woman. AVOID Brothers Automotive!! read more

I had my car fixed there, and thought they were great. Then I encountered one of their workers out on the road. Huge road bully getting within inches of my bumper (because I wasnt going fast enough). I recorded everything. He tried to intimidate me and I wasnt having it. It looked like he was driving a new truck or a customer truck. I wouldnt trust any of them with my car anymore. My son ended up at Brothers with a blown engine in his truck. They were compassionate and tolerated storage of the vehicle for longer than they should have. Eventually, we decided to have them repair it by putting a new engine into the truck. That process did not go entirely to plan, but Phil backed his work. Even though he was in Oregon, and the truck needed to pass a smog inspection in California, he took the vehicle back and tweaked it until the computer stopped complaining and it could pass. I can only give my highest recommendation to Brothers Automotive. The combination of competence, compassion, and honesty are so difficult to find. By far the best experience that I have had at a mechanic. They were able to diagnose my issue quickly and as they were installing the part, discovered that I only had a quart of oil left in my car due to a faulty oil filter that didn't allow a tight seal so they threw in a oil change for free! My car has had a slew of problems appear almost simultaneously in the last couple of months. They have replaced a bad wheel bearing, a bad catalytic converter, and recharged the AC system in my car. All at prices that are very reasonable and FAR less than at a dealership. I went to Brothers Automotive to get my 2006 Chevy Impala diagnosed just to find out that my head gasket blew, which ended up bending an engine rod or two. This meant that I had to get my entire engine replaced (expensive, I know). Throughout the process of getting my car fixed, I was provided with a reasonable quote for repairs, consistent updates on progress and timely service. They even have a warranty on their labor (1 year or 12,000 miles), so that was definitely an added bonus! Most importantly, you can tell that the employees in this shop are really good people who take pride in their work. One of the workers that I spoke with consistently over the phone named, Phil, was extremely friendly and took the time to explain everything that was happening with my car. He was also very sympathetic towards my situation, which isn't something you see everyday from a mechanic. This shop cares about their customers. Car problems are not fun, and rarely are they ever, "affordable," but my overall experience with this shop was a 10/10. The most important factor in selecting an automotive repair shop is trust. Sure it might be easier or more convenient to just hop over to the chain drive-through oil change places and have them do whatever it is they do, but how much do you actually trust them with your vehicle - the complex machine that is like a member of the family with whom you entrust your life daily? I've dealt with some smarmy people at the chain shops, but I trust Brothers. I brought in my car for an annual general inspection. It wasn't acting up or anything. I just bought the vehicle used and it didn't come with a maintenance schedule, and at 124k miles, I wanted to know what was coming around the pike in terms of repairs or maintenance. The folks at Brothers provided me a list of things that needed to be fixed, changed out, or monitored, and helped me identify the highest priority item - my timing belt was due to be changed. I made an appointment for for just that ONE repair. Well, there was a miscommunication, and they actually did EVERYTHING on the list - $500 more work than I had wanted. When I went to settle up, I saw the invoice and brought the error to their attention. The service writer (with whom I've worked before and who has always provided exceptional customer service) IMMEDIATELY took full responsibility, only charged me for the timing belt, and said he would essentially apologize to his boss later. Let me tell you story first before telling you about this company. So my car had overheated but my wife kept driving it. Took it to a shop and they were quick to say that my engine is broken and need a new one. $8,000 to get a new engine. Mind you I bought the car for $6,000 and was considering to just get rid of it. The shop offered to get rid of it for me for $100. For me to pay them to get rid of it. I kept the car and it sad for 2 years just because I thought it was not worth fixing it. Then a friend of mine suggested this shop. Took my car in and was hoping to only spend less than $2,000. It cost $750 to fix it. Took a few days and car was up and running. The car that I was about to get rid off is running until now. It's been 4 years now and this is the only shop I go to here in Salem, OR. Definitely recommend! Thank you Brother's Automotive! These guys are honest. I brought my Corvette due to a coolant leak. Oleg looked at it and found where the problem was. I went and picked up my car and wanting to know how much do I owe them. Phil said "nothing"! Bring your car back when you're ready and we'll fix it for you. It was the water pump leaking and he gave me an estimate. I moved here from out of state 6 years ago, a single mom with a teenage (now adult) daughter, and we needed to find a new mechanic. We have taken several cars in for checks prior to purchasing, and they have steered us away from a few lemons (SO grateful for that!) before helping us choose the right vehicle for us. I was on my way to Salem when that recommendation was made, so when I got to Salem I saw the reviews for this place and decided it would be the best place to try. When I got to Brothers, I talked to (I'm guessing) Oleg. He personally went over to my car and inspected it, then took it for a spin. Sure enough, he couldn't find a thing wrong with it, neither on inspection nor by the way it felt driving it. Let me start by saying I'm not mechanically inclined, whatsoever. I live in Eugene, but was looking for a car in Salem. I could tell there was a noise that didn't sound good from the rear of the car, so I thought I better take it to a mechanic to see what was wrong. I Yelp'd mechanics and Brother's Automotive had great reviews. I showed up without an appointment and they were very busy so I thought I might be out of luck. I explained to owner my issue and he jumped in the car and took it for a quick test drive. When he got back he popped the hood and ran some additional tests. He then explained to me the noise was the rear differential was going out. I asked him what I owed him and he said, "nothing".
