My parents split the fish and chips, I got the chicken pot pie, and we split a side of colcannon. The sweet tea I had to drink was a little on the unsweet side for me, but I often find that's the case at restaurants on the gulf...further evidence that Florida/the gulf area is fundamentally different from the rest of the Deep South. Lol. My parents definitely enjoyed the fish and chips overall. I think my dad was hoping for a little more salt/seasoning in the fish breading but my mom was VERY pleased with hers. I'd never had colcannon before and thought what we got was just alright, figuring it wasn't really for me. My mom, who's tried it a few times different places, said she'd had a lot better. It had a pretty strong beer taste from the gravy on top. I'd be curious to try it again somewhere else and see how it compares. The shining star of the night was definitely my chicken pot pie. The crust was delightfully brown, the chicken was succulent and plentiful, and the sauce it swam in with the tender veggies was super flavorful and aromatic. It was perfect for a very slightly chilly evening. The brown bread served with it was absolutely delightful too, warm and rich and topped with delicious herb butter. I could easily eat a whole loaf.
