The entry process into the venue was really straight forward and smooth - we arrived about 40 minutes ahead of the concert and were led very quickly to our seats at the bar. They were very well prepared for the event - there were alot of staff, bartenders, and waiters catering to guests needs. The food and drink options were really nice. I had the burger, which was GREAT, and my girlfriend had the brisket sandwich which she really enjoyed too. The fries might've been the highlight of the meal though; they were wonderfully seasoned and fresh. I kept it simple with a bottled beer and she had a reisling - no complaints at all on our drinks. Shoutout to our bartender; she was very attentive even though the space was completely sold out. I like that the majority of the seats in the venue have at least a partial view of the stage. For those seats that are out of stage view, there are plenty of TV screens scattered around and above the bar to give everyone a chance at viewing the stage. I do think that the sound quality could be improved - we sat a little ways away from stage and definitely fought through some distorted or unclear sound. Maybe a speaker or two in the back of the venue would help. Perhaps it was because Destin's show was very popular, but we had ALOT of trouble buying our tickets online. Their site stalled or crashed several times while we were trying to purchase tickets. Would've loved to have a smoother purchase experience. This place has alot of soul; it's a perfect date night spot. Would happily come back again to see other artists, musicans, and vocalists.

I love this spot for a night out with great live music, strong drinks, and a good time…read more I've been to a number of shows here and always have an amazing time. The music is LOUD, but they luckily have ear plugs at the host stand in case you need some extra hearing protection. I usually buy bar seats on the stage side because the view is great and pretty cheap. The service can be a tad slow but generally pretty good. There is a 2 item per person minimum if you're ordering from the menu, so beware! Usually I'm ordering at least a drink (or two) and a snack, but you can't get just one thing. They have events for everyone, I've seen tribute bands for Erykah Badu, Usher, and Michael Jackson. It does tend to be an older crowd though, I usually find myself to be the youngest in the room here.

The River Concert Series runs through the summer each year, typically on Friday evenings in June…read moreand July, with varying concerts set on the St. Mary's College townhouse green. Their rather spectacular stage features a variety of acts; classical concert music, jazz, and choral arrangements, with a few surprises each year. The musicians are a mix of college faculty from SMCM and other local institutions, alumni, and current students, as well as featured professional soloists. The venue on the river is always beautiful, and while it's a ways out, it's directly on Route 5 and not difficult to find by car, and you won't be bothered by traffic for most of the way. Definitely reachable from DC or Annapolis or various suburbs. Parking is ample. Seats are not provided, but the area is grassy; this is the sort of scenario where towels and lawn chairs might be advised. Being a summer event, it is subject to thunderstorms. More frequently, however, it is subject to gorgeous sunsets in the background. The crowd is always at least close to full and blends county locals and people connected with the college, though it will depend on weather and the program for the night. The college does very little in the way of summer school, and thus there aren't generally a lot of residents around (a good thing for them, given that the festival is on their lawn). Various food and art vendors congregate next to the townhouse green, and sometimes local political campaigns. The concert itself and the parking are free. This is a great opportunity to see the college and the area and to experience musical performances which are worthy of a major urban venue, but welcome in this remote but special setting.

The space feels so intimate, which makes the whole experience more personal and memorable compared to larger, more crowded venues. The atmosphere was great from start to finish, and everything felt well-organized. The service was also a highlight, our server was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made us feel really comfortable throughout the night. Even though the food was just alright, the overall experience more than made up for it. Between the vibe, the quality of the show, and the excellent service, it's definitely a place I'd come back to again and recommend to others looking for a unique night out/date night!

The cocktails were veteran made and solid. The dining room is intimate, adding to the connection of the artists and the show. Deborah Bond dropped her new album Amber Dust, a true R&B artist keeping the tradition of the music well and alive. She hosted a listening party show with a customized cocktail menu with drinks named after her latest album! The show was amazing and the sound was clear. Although the menu is a bit limited I enjoyed my crab cakes, which had no filler. Oh and be sure to save yourself time and park in the parking garage across from the alley. This is an amazing little space with big names. Every time I've come here I've always met with the artists after the show. So if you're a super fan and your favorite artist is performing here, GO!
