The doctors offer the best care I have ever received. They listen and are willing to help both with foundational health and acute issues. They keep up with medical research and developments that are both traditional and naturopathic. You are given the choice to address your issues with traditional approaches or with naturopathic approaches or both. They do a great job of offering me care covered by my insurance and adding on the naturopathic care I want as self pay. I am grateful because I could never afford concierge holistic care and I do want traditional medical care but want awareness and availability of holistic options for the things traditional medicine is failing me at. A great example of the naturopathic was a recent toxic mold exposure. I am severely sensitive to toxins in mold and was blasted with moldy attic dust and my physical reaction was swift followed by a systemic inflammatory response that was destroying me, and there really is nothing I've found that helps that in regular medicine. They offered me an ozone therapy IV that has helped other mold-sensitive patients and I recovered so quickly I couldn't believe it! It sounded wacky and I was skeptical but desperate -- but my God, it worked! Now I know what to do instead of suffering for days or weeks with the aftermath of my body kicking into overdrive, I can get relief. For run of the mill things I am willing to see the ARNPs but for critical or foundational items I make appointments with the doctor if I can wait. I trust the docs to help me advocate for care too. My gastro wouldn't test for parasites. He wouldn't even consider parasites a potential cause of gastrointestinal issues and just diagnosed me with IBS (a generic diagnosis of exclusion). The docs encouraged me to ask again because parasites can be a factor. I went to another gastro and he ran PCR stool tests and uncovered INVASIVE AMOEBAS and C-dif. My first gastro would have left me with amoebas that attack your gut and then go to your liver and lungs and brain and slapped me with a B.S. "IBS" diagnosis that was just his medical negligence. Thank God for the primary care doctors of this clinic who care and are knowledgeable and give me confidence to ask questions. You HAVE to choose knowledgeable doctors and primary care and this is a great one. read more

They tried to charge me $124 for wellness visits. The first girl who answered the phone, placed me on hold without saying anything, then she answered the phone sounding like she hated her life. She told me i owed $124 and then when i said these are wellness visits, she said i had to talk to billing (why??). Then, billing called me back, said the appointments were scheduled incorrectly and that I didn't owe anything, and that she would fix the appointments. Then, the woman who checked me in tried to collect $124, I explained to her that both appointments were annual appointments. 5 minutes later I got a text advising me to pay my balance. They called me back up to pay $124. Then, one of them said that one appointment would be covered and the second appointment applied to my deductible. I told her I've met my deductible and billing said it wouldn't cost anything because they are wellness visits. She then tried to collect 20% coinsurance. It's truly disappointing that they can't get it right. The nurses and doctors were great but this is not the first time we've had issues with the front office staff. They do not know what's going on and they will try to overcharge you. They just charged me $50 for not going to the appointment. What a joke. read more

I have taken my 3 sons to this incredible clinic periodically over the past 10 years. It is confounding if it's Yelp only showing negative or unusual folks posting. This practice is phenomenal. It has been a long and bending road to help my son and many other children. But I can't do it alone and this practice has the most wonderful knowledgeable practitioners to come alongside anyone's desire and need to improve health. I actually hosted a WAPF table at their grand opening for pediatric care and asked to be a part of their practice. Docs Outside the Box is a clinic that opened their doors wide during 2020/ Covid pandemic when many shut their doors and sick folks had nowhere to go. Folks come to this insurance and holistic practice with desires to lose weight, recover autism, ADHD, cancer, urgent care, PCOS, long Covid, fatty livers, sick of being sick, and much more. Each patient is given choices of allopathic medications, holistic food supplements, or a blend. This allows a patient to comfortably choose whether they want to change lifestyle habits or just get help to move through conditions. This is a busy, heart-filled, smart, and pioneering practice that I'm grateful to join. These are amazing providers, and it is sad when they move with family or leave to have babies, but good providers always come back in because healing happens here under Dr TT and Dr G. From their website, this clinic is supposed to be a patient empowered medical clinic with a comprehensive, educational, and patient empowered approach to your care. They go on to say that patient empowered means that YOU ARE IN CHARGE. What it fails to mention is that YOU will need to advocate hard to get them to do their job correctly, the first time. Things like sending over a valid prescription to your pharmacy and with the proper dosing schedule, not sending over duplicate prescriptions, receiving and acting upon facsimiles that are sent over from the pharmacy when the prescription is deemed invalid, and not scheduling appointments that have absolutely nothing to do with you. And if that's not enough maybe not denying any wrongdoing, and not taking any accountability whatsoever. Not everything about this clinic is bad. Hence the two stars. It would've been only one star had it not been for the providers (Binsey and Shea) that are in fact compassionate and do take the time with you to discuss your goals and medical intervention. That all seems to end from the moment you exit their building. The back-office staff that is responsible for ensuring that next steps are completed is where it all falls apart. Don't think for a minute that you're entitled to write or call them and ask for help to get them to correct their mistakes. Leaving voice messages for Denise (the clinical supervisor) will get no response. You'll eventually get an email response from Dr. Lana Garner with statements like: "Shae has written the prescription correctly," "we have not received any fax from your pharmacy," "There is a logical progression for the process of proscriptions. It is not possible to jump a head of the line," "Many of these steps have nothing to do with this practice," "We will make no more phones calls on your behalf. We have done more than our job," and "It appears you would do better in a concierge practice where you pay the extra fees for the level of attention you appear to require." Yes, these are all actual quotes from Dr. Garner that she wrote in various email responses. I simply copied/pasted.. While she could use a spell/grammar check utility, she is quite well versed at rebuttals, and I'm sure she will have one for this review as well. She always does, as is evidenced from all the rebuttals of other reviews. Never admittance nor accountability of any wrongdoing though. They just don't make mistakes. It has to be me then. I should seek out a practice that offers a concierge service for an annual fee. Great answer! The true definition of "compassion" is "to suffer together. A feeling that arises when you are confronted with another's suffering and feel motivated to relieve that suffering." That is not the same thing as one that contributes to the suffering. They found my information online and are sending me collection bills for a no show appointment that I never had. I'm getting emails and collection statements from a company called Cardiothoracic Surgery of Hyde Park. No where does it say anything about Docs Outside the Box. I had a $50 "no show" bill and now I'm getting a $100 one??? Lana, I know you will give me some sort of unprofessional rebuttal as you have on every negative review. Called the billing company and it is outsourced to AdvancedMD. Some basically billing app. They don't even have a billing department, so you have to speak to someone in another country in order to discuss your bill. Big Red Flag!! I made the mistake of using cash and later got bills in the mail from them and their affiliates saying they had not received payment--had to pay up again to make sure my credit score didn't get trashed. I never saw the same person, and NO ONE bothered to read my chart before any consultation--I'd be asked questions that could have been answered by looking at the chart. They also misdiagnosed me with kidney cysts that were actually kidney stones and then went on to push a bunch of their overpriced nutrition products. Why 5 stars? I feel like these folks care about their patients, was welcome upon entering the door and I spent a long time speaking to the medical professionals about my symptoms and received testing, etc immediately. I've been looking for a new primary Doc for a while. Upon entering the office I handed all the paperwork I had filled out, and was put in the patient room within ~5 min of my scheduled time. Doctor came in and sat with me for over an hour going through my history with Covid, what remaining symptoms I have, etc. I also had some concerns about overall wellbeing and was given the option of starting on a program for that which included various supplements, etc. I realize some of these things could be bought elsewhere but I did like how they have their own stuff in-house. I was a little weary of the location when first driving in and the parking, but once you do find the place, everything was clean inside and a different color scheme than a typical doctor's office. I feel that in the coming days and weeks I hope to see some improvement not only on my overall health but the ongoing issues I've been having with Covid for the several past months. As to other reviews, I'm not sure what to say. I had a great experience here, the pricing is all up front to see and I did have them also run my insurance for things that it covered. I was a patient for about two years for BHRT. I first saw Binsey Babu and started with troches (oral lozenge). I wasn't asked to return for lab work to assess levels and finally asked myself six months after starting. The follow up nearly turned argumentative when I was told I must be doing something in my diet causing Estrone to skyrocket when in reality it was caused by oral testosterone converting to Estrone. This is a common phenomenon and should have been known by the practice. I switched delivery methods as well as providers within the practice due to issues with her medical assistant and the argumentative nature of the visit. Since then, each provider has left as well as several medical assistants. Had I stayed, I would be on provider #5. That in and of itself is disconcerting to a patient but along the way it was just painful getting prescriptions sent to the pharmacy or written for me to pick up. Multiple times it took them 1 1/2 - 2 weeks to get the correct drug sent to the pharmacy. After speaking with the medical assistant (different one than previously mentioned) about delays with prescription sent to pharmacy, she alleged never having heard back from the pharmacy regarding any issues. I called the pharmacy who read to me every interaction they had through their electronic prescription system. It would seem the medical assistant was lying about the delays. After finally receiving the prescription, I lowered the prescribed dosage and increased frequency knowing it was written far too high and too infrequent. Each of the PAs has to consult with the doctors because they themselves don't know about BHRT. I asked for injectable testosterone at the beginning since I was converting it with the delivery method I was taking and you would have thought I had asked for crack. Really! I couldn't get an answer from Ms Babu's medical assistant, Heather, for the longest time as to how to proceed if they didn't want to prescribe injectable - only that they wouldn't do it which wasn't helpful. I, the patient, finally came up with a solution by suggesting topical testosterone but that's not working out for me either. This was where we left things when I left the practice. It's not just the Physician Assistants and medical assistants, the front desk staff is a revolving door of different faces. They need to attract employees who will stay and that's either better management or better salaries or both. A revolving door of employees is noticed by patients. I'm saddened because their holistic approach is desperately needed these days and I want to be a patient, but they're just too disorganized. read more

Not helpful at all.. said the same thing as a regular Dr. about my acne. Be clean, eat clean, here's some medicine without doing any tests. I felt so frustrated to hear the same things over and over knowing I'm already doing everything I can. You don't even see a Dr. your first visit. I was with an assistant who wasn't very knowledgeable and was kind of rude when I started to get upset. I cried when they left the room, to hear not a single new recommendation is bewildering. I could've just read any old article on acne online. Blood work was $800+... I would rate them better if it felt at all compassionate. I've worked with holistic care providers back home in NY. I did poke my head out the door, and mentioned that we had been waiting for 45 minutes. I was met by an obviously annoyed woman who informed me that we were next. Great, thanks! Update- We waited 70 minutes, the provider did not acknowledge that she had made us wait, but did comment that she had 3 patients waiting, as she was clearly frustrated with us. I was referred to Docs on the idea that they treated holistically. In my first visit, before any blood tests had been completed, both of the doctors pushed me to purchase expensive supplements that resulted in headaches and stomachaches. I eventually sought care from a different physician and requested my medical paperwork & blood test results but was ignored and advised someone would be "reaching out to me" but no one ever did. I will not make any assumptions on the legitimacy of the care they provide, but based on my experience I do not feel as if adequate care was provided. This felt more profit oriented rather than addressing any issues I was experiencing at the time. Edit: I was a patient in 2018 when I lived in St. Pete. Didn't receive a call back until 5 pm because the Dr. didn't pass on the phone number to the on call person until then. We ended up taking her to the ER instead which will cost significantly more. I love Docs outside the box! All of the providers we have seen are very compassionate, empathetic and caring! They look at your body as a whole and are committed to getting to the root cause. I have referred countless Friends and family here and will continue to do so! Everyone has been happy! It's such a rarity to find a more holistic practice that takes insurance. Plus, having a holistic urgent care too! We have been very happy with their peds department as well! The only thing I would say could use room for improvement is their receptionist systems. We have had some hiccups in regards to their communication. I understand they are a new practice and rapidly growing and these types things things take time to work out the kinks. Probably one of the best Cardiologist/Surgeons in the State of Florida period I am not saying that either. My father had a triple bypass heart surgery with Laser back in May 2010 and Dr. Taylor and her cardiac team who did the surgery took really great care of my father while he was in surgery. I am happy to say this she's really great in what she does as a Cardiologist and a Surgeon. She won't treat you as a number, money or in the door and out the door type of person she will get to know you and help you in any way she can to the best she can. She goes to Tampa General Hospital for her surgeries and care and her husband works Tampa General Hospital as well! She is a very nice lady and very informative when it comes to patient care and what to look for and how to take care of it. She made sure my father was doing alright checking the procedure/surgery sites to make sure they are healing and no problems exist. I recommend her to anyone who needs a Cardiologist and a Surgeon all in one she's very amazing as I said above! read more

To intentionally hurt someones feelings and also refuse care is never what I expected from a doctors office. I left a public review explaining my experiences with my newborn as well as myself, and was then tricked into a doctors appointment where I was cornered by the owner. I still cant believe it. She said there is something we need to talk about and then thickly told me to not speak, that I didn't know what I was talking about, and even said to shut up. I thought we were going to talk about my experiences, and I was 100% open to seeing if things can get better. I understand you cant control all your employees. Instead she scolded, told me to shut up, that I didn't know what I was talking about (my experiences didn't happen). It was intense and scary. She simply could have cancelled my appointment rather than strung me through an arguably traumatizing experience, with my newborn in tow. ` This all came to be when I went in for my second urgent care appointment following an initial one, due to a medical emergency my doctor told me to come back for asap if it gets worse in 1 week. I promptly went back because the supplements did not help - I needed antibiotics asap. After checking in, waiting with my newborn, and having the nurse look me over I was told the doctor was going to come in quick so I could move forwar dwith carer. The owner came in and said we needed to talk, and then strongly told me again and again I wasnt allowed to talk, afterall I didnt know what I was talking about anyways. She asked me questions that she didnt want answers for. She aggressively handed rhetoric my way. And then, she asked if this is an emergency that I can receive care. She asked if it was emergency and I said yes, thats why I am back. After she stated I can receive care if it is indeed an emergency, and I can get care for the next 30 days, she told me to leave. I was kicked out for leaving a review of my experiences and was put through an entire appointment process just to be cornered, yelled, at, kicked out, and not given help. I was planning to revise my review, because as a business owner my self, every experience changes something. And, you cant control your employees but you can learn & grow. Instead she chose to take off her professional hat and negatively impact a patient. She was so proud of herself, and for why? She was irate about a review and then chose to leave me with an experience that feels litigation worthy, on top of a new review. All we should have done was actually talk about it. read more

Horrible communication. Tried for three days to get a script for an ultrasound and still Moffitt has not received. I'm having to cancel my appointment because the script was incomplete and no one responds to calls. Spent hours trying to chase down so I could keep my appointment. sked to be copied so I could avoid this fiasco. Was not copied for corrected script as requested. When you call the office it says the office hours are 10-5 on Saturday. NOT!!! I went there t hopefully get the script and not open. Nice people but poorly run practice. I went to Docs Outside the Box as I needed to get a physician to prescribe BHRT for me. They didn't take my insurance but I needed the prescription. I was told it would cost anywhere from $128-$225. Well it cost $223. A week or so after my appointment, I looked at my patient portal and I saw a $53 credit. I had labs done and had scheduled a telemedicine appointment with Docs to go over my lab. So, I was ready for my appointment and no one showed virtually up. I called and got one scheduled the next day and waited past the appointment time. The doctor or her assistant finally came on and went over my labs with me and transf me to the front desk for payment. They charged me $128 for a ten minute phone call to go over my labs. I was shocked at this exorbitant cost just to go over labs. The front desk person said that I got a cash paying patient discount as they bill insurance $256 for a 10 minute call to go over labs. I called billing and asked about the $53 dollar credit on my portal and she said it as a coding error and went to my original payment. I will never go back or refer my family or friends to them. They are money driven and not responsible to our broken healthcare system. read more

OMG. So grateful I found this place on Yelp. I suffered an entire year of pain, lack of energy, and reduced quality of life before finding these "docs out of the box". Dr. TT and Lana are like health detectives, searching out the ROOT CAUSES of illness and finding nutritional and other lifestyle changes to eliminate it and achieve health. STANDARD PROCESS supplements are used here. But I also appreciate I can receive primary care, and manage prescription medication here as well. With patience over time, and sticking to their plan, (yes, there is effort and commitment required on your part), my energy and well being is returning. I still have much to do to reach my health goals, but I am optimistic with the progress I've made. I feel as if I'm finally getting my life back. The staff is very helpful and RETURNS PHONE CALLS. I have had nothing but positive experiences with everyone--admin, billing, nurses, etc. This is what health care should be. I currently live in Orlando and drive to st. Dear Lana, I don't normally respond in kind but since you chose to get personal with inaccurate information, so be it. It took your office more than two months to produce an ultrasound report that was supposed to be ready for my original appointment in February. How the doctor was going to go over it with me if they didn't have it in the office I'm not quite sure. Also I believe that may be a violation of my HIPAA rights to have to wait that long for my records. Although I not entirely sure. The device looked like voodoo to me for the simple fact that while I was being scanned at least half of the images were of a female figure. Now I'm no fancy schmancy new age doctor person but if you actually are scanning a male I would assume that ALL of the images in real time would be of a male. Of course I could be mistaken about that. And as to my credit card being declined. I don't recall that actually happening but perhaps it did. Someone got ahold of my credit card number around that time and I had to cancel that card. Is that a coincidence? I dont know, probably. You say you dont take fees but I paid in person for all of my appointment fees and supplements. And I've never known another medical practioner to be unsure of what is and is not covered by fairly mainstream insurance policies. I don't know but it doesn't scream legit to me. read more

Early in December 2021, I called Doctors Outside the Box to inquire if they had the GI Map Plus Assay stool test that tests for a multitude of pathogens and parasites (their DNA / RNA in stool) that may be infecting the intestines causing illnesses like GERD, intestinal, and stomach issues, etc. I had previously called Diagnostic Solutions Lab to find out if their lab bills Medicare for this test. I was informed Yes, that a Medicare approved MD, DO, or doctor assistant has to sign up with Diagnostic Solutions lab to order the test kit for the patient and they will also bill Medicare for the test, as this lab and test has been approved for billing by Medicare. When I called Doctors Outside the Box and asked them if they had the GI Map test kit and will bill Medicare for me, they said yes to set up an appointment. I received via email from Doctors Outside the Box a first new patient appointment confirmation for 12/27/21 with Sheri Lundblad, APRN, which I saw. I arrived at my initial appointment on 12/27/21 and they took my credit card to have it on file to charge any amount Medicare does not pay on my office visits or procedures. They will charge my credit card automatically for my 20% co payment and for any portion not paid by Medicare after they receive the EOMB (explanation of benefits from Medicare) and pay ahead of appointments made with Doctor Garner DOM (Doctor of Oriental Medicine) not covered by Medicare. I saw Ms Sheri Lundblad APRN at my 12/27/21 appointment who then mentioned to me that a GI Map Plus stool test costs $300.00 with another lab their practice uses and is NOT billed to Medicare, and I will have to pay for the whole test. I said that was too much money for me. But, she will bring the situation to Dr. Lana Garner (DOM) and Dr. Teekell (MD and Medicare approved) to see if Dr. Teekell will sign up with Diagnostic Solutions Lab who does bill directly to Medicare and therefore help elderly patients of the practice. After various messages to the office for status, I was informed that Doctors Outside the Box practitioners will NOT sign up with Diagnostic Solutions. So, I informed them that the only reason I had the initial appointment on 12/27/21 was to to have a GI Map Plus test billed to Medicare. Now knowing that Doctors Outside the Box would not bill Medicare for the GI Map plus test that the practice wants $300.00 for, I called and CANCELED my subsequent appointment with both Dr. Garner and Dr. Teekell for 1/31/22, and I asked the clerks by phone to email me a confirmation that my 1/31/22 appointment is CANCELED. They gave me the excuse that because of HIPPA and office policy, they can not send me an appointment CANCELATION email. What I say is...... they can send email confirmation of upcoming appointment dates to patients, but NOT email appointment cancelations? So, I went to their office and got a signed cancelation for the prepaid 1/31/22 appointment in which both Dr. Teekell (MD and approved by Medicare) and Dr. Garner (Doctor of Oriental Medicine) see the patient at the same time. But, Dr. Garner DOM is NOT covered by Medicare so you have to pay ahead of your appointment. In late January 2022, I received by mail the $200.00 refund that I prepaid for the canceled 1/31/22 appointment. Doctors Outside the Box patients have to pay $200.00 ahead of your appointment for the holistic doctor. The MD doctor at Doctors Outside the Box which you see at the same appointment will not sign up with Diagnostic Solutions lab and want patients to pay $300.00 for the GI Map test. I wish I could leave a better review, but I can't. Docs outside the box is the only non western medicine provider I have found that takes Tricare so I decided to give them a shot. First visit was fine back in Late Feb., after reviewing my lab work and seeing my fasting glucose was over 250 I was a little nervous and disappointed no one had called me from the provider's office to discuss next steps, retest, etc. when I finally called them I was told I would need to wait until the PA returned from vacation to discuss. (So no one else is reviewing labs for any concerning values and outreaching patients when provider is on vacation? ) I asked for a reorder for glucose and got that done. Then when my follow up telemedicine appt came up on 4/2, I was called and told the PA was out and I needed to reschedule. Fast forward to today, I had my telemedicine appt this morning. I logged into the portal on time per the instructions, 15 mins after my appt time I received a phone call saying the telemedicine portal is down (even though I logged in without issues) and the apt would be over the phone instead and was asked if I could be put on a brief hold. 15 mins after holding, I hung up. They seemed so GREAT when I first went to them and they had best price in town, but it goes back to YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Only this time I paid for services I didn't get from them. My appointment was on July 8th, paid them the $99, but they are saying the state's system is down and they can't update my info. Which means I can NOT get my medicine. I have called a couple of other MM Dr's, and they tell me they are having no trouble with the State's system. So why is Docs Outside the box saying they can't get in? I don't know but I can't imagine the state has one system for each MM drs office. I really feel that I deserve a refund of my $99. as I paid for a service I didn't get. Today in July 12th.
