I have visited Vina's Jewellers several times in the last few months. The first visit was to see…read moreif they would be able to clean and adjust a Bulova watch that was at least 75 years old. I had approached several other Halifax companies over the last few years, all of whom had discouraged me, suggesting that the watch would never keep time properly, it would have to send it to Montreal for cleaning, and probably wasn't worth the cost or effort. The owner of VIna's eyes brightened when he saw the watch and indicated that he could certainly do the required watch. It was ready on precisely the day he promised and it looks and works perfectly, keeping excellent time. As a result of the success with this watch, I asked about another, quite fine watch, that had lost its watch crystal and, as a result, the hands which were unusually small. I had tried to have this favourite watch repaired various places in the city; one had contacted the company which had made the watch, and they reportedly responded that they no longer had parts for this watch. A company I contacted in Montreal gave a similar response. After several years, I'd given up trying to have the watch repaired, although I had resisted the suggestion from one local company that I just leave it with them for parts. Given the quality of the service Vina's had provided for the Bulova, I left the watch with them to see whether they might be able to do something to fix it. When I returned, the watch was completely restored. The owner had found among his extensive collection of parts both the crystal and the hands; he showed me the original paper work for their purchase dated in the 1980s! This is a truly remarkable shop. An extraordinarily knowledgeable craftsman with a deep love for all things related to watches and clocks. The work was done perfectly and was ready on precisely the day promised. The costs were considerable, but perfectly reasonable for what was done. I have since recommended VIna's to someone who wanted to have a vintage Rolex from the 1940s restored. They too were delighted with the quality of the work and the service. If you have a watch of some value on which you would like work to be done, this is certainly the place to go in Nova Scotia.

Sometimes I'm not sure what a business is selling as their primary product. Upon entering this…read morestark Quinpool shop, I may say "watch straps - Vina's is all about watch straps." However, I don't think one can sustain a shop on a relatively small assortment of timepiece holders. I spoke with the man behind the counter to ask about watch battery pricing. Only $5 and he can do it in a few minutes while you wait - great news! I perused a little further, discovering a wall with larger clocks as well as an assortment of trophies... The space is bright and dated, with inoffensive colors and a very bland overall atmosphere. Plus side: there are a bunch of lovely orchids blooming in the window! Vina's apparently buys scrap gold and jewellery materials, as well as sells some watches and pocket clocks. A strange little store. But thankfully, not I know where to go if I need a watch strap. Phew.

I will not be going back to this shop. And I would recommend you watch your dealing with them If you need work done on your watched I would go to the Watch Doc over this place

AVOID THIS PLACE!!! Brought a nice watch in for a simple battery change. The young tech ( if you…read morecan call them that) had a hard time removing the back of the watch and a really tough time putting it back on the watch ( after breaking the gasket and a very exerted effort he forced it on). Both my wife and I just looked at each other in disbelief. When I got home I went to reset the calibration of the watch ( time/date/month/year etc..) and the watch's stem comes right out of the watch into my hand! I couldn't believe it but wasn't surprised considering what I had witnessed at the store. I went back the next day to bring this to their attention and their salesperson Brody who was very rude and accused me of breaking it. They took no responsibility at all and in fact pretty much called me a liar. Brody displayed his rude and poor customer service skills in front of many customers this day...I was truly embarrassed. He finally said that he would send the watch to the service center for an estimate to see what we were up against repair wise .....350$ to fix it! When he called me with the news he was once again confrontational and refused to fix my watch at their expense. I even offered to meet them halfway and he refused again claiming that I broke the watch. I then escalated the matter to the owner/ operator Josh Ellner. I arranged to meet him at his Bedford location. When I arrived and asked to speak to him it was obvious to me that he had already been apprised of the watch and the situation beforehand by Brody and he was already defensive and had no intention of hearing me out. No matter what I said he was not going to take responsibility for his staff and the damage they had caused. Terrible business sense and horrific customer service. This turned out to be a very expensive battery replacement!! STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!!!!! THEY ARE WILLING TO TAKE YOUR MONEY AND TALK A GOOD SCHTICK BUT UNWILLING TO SUPPORT THEIR CUSTOMERS WHEN PUSH COMES TO SHOVE. THEY HAVE NO RESPECT FOR YOU OR YOUR PROPERTY!! Rating should be zero stars. (also, their batteries don't last as long as from other places...you get what you pay for I guess) I will never trust my precious watches to these incompetents again and I strongly encourage you to do the same.
