My daughter wished to get into vinyl so I took in my NAD Power Envelope Amp and Preamp that I purchased back in 1988. Good service and an incredible, economic repair later and the workhorse of my youth is ready for another generation.

The only downside is the death-by-paperwork that you experience in setting up your account. It seemed a little silly to have to provide three references with mailing addresses for a $5 rental but at least you only have to do it once! Good to know since I'll definitely be back!

(so no guarantee the job will get done?) Then when I said I would get someone else because he clearly didn't want to do the job they left my stuff in the parking lot and all over the stairs well! The knowledgeable owner didn't know of anywhere locally that would have one. He suggested replating the item and went through old business cards and found a local electroplating company that may be able to replate it. He then remembered that he had a box of used brass plates. I dug through them and bought a few - $4.00 each; they worked perfectly on my door. Then I went back for a new door knob set to fit the new back plate. The service was cheerful professional and helpful. I'd certainly recommend them for any locksmith issues.

Upon searching for model shops while spending a weekend in Windsor, NS, I happened upon this one,…read moreadvertised interestingly as "the only hobby store in the valley". (Uh, okay, then. Way to save me some time, I guess). I checked for a website, and while giving me location info, does, according to Google, suggest that there may be a virus on their host page's end. Fortunately, I didn't take that as a reason to avoid the place altogether, which in the end, was a good decision. (Note to self: tell the owner about it next time through Windsor). I don't know what I expected when coming into the small town store, but found myself pleasantly surprised by the selection available. In addition to the run-of -the-mill kits available by the big names (Revell, etc) there were a few more exotic labels to be seen as well. There was also more of a kit variety available too, including some harder to find items and vehicles of several sorts. There were also a few interesting assembly pieces in stock that I haven't routinely seen on shelf in some of the other stores I frequent, such as an air compressor converter piece and a handy model glue dispensing pen I was happy to exchange some coin for. There are also some additional items for sale in-store, as I suspect, as many mom&pop (but mostly pop) stores do, which included an R/C section, and a respectable section dedicated to sport fishing. Upon purchase of my finds (plus a really swell model of a Ford 427 engine), I engaged the owner in a bit of a chat, and found him quite knowledgeable about his work. Being a serious modeler himself, he seemed quite interested in keeping quality materials in stock when available, and seemed quite knowledgeable of "the scene", recommending that I check out at least one or 2 upcoming model shows in the province. Today I eyed a marvelous brass and crystal candelabra, wearing a $495 price tag as well as a few rich and gorgeous bureaus. There are pieces dating back to the 1920s, perfectly restored with care, precision and expertise. The store proprietor, Jim McLellan has been working in the restoration business for some 25 years now, so brings much experience to the art of refurbishing antique goods.
