When you're on vacation and get a kidney stone, you want to go somewhere where you'll be taken good…read morecare of. Ascension Sacred Heart does just that. My husband drove me to the ER, but I was getting sick so violently I couldn't get out of the care. ER personnel came out to our car with a wheelchair, waiting patiently in the warm sun till the spasms were over. From the moment I was wheeled in, everything was handled calmly and orderly and kindly. It was a weekday morning so it wasn't really busy and I was seen in just a few minutes. I was wheeled back to the ER where the real work began. Now, I'm in pain and there are things that have to be done before they can deal with the pain. I was patient through that. I understand. And what they had to do...take blood, set up an IV, hook me up to monitors, etc was conducted with efficiency and gentle care. Then came the pain meds. One had to be "pushed" through my IV. Having gone to nursing school (but not graduating), pushing a med via an IV is an important skill and my ER had it! She explained all that would happen as the drug entered my body. She kept reinforcing her explanation as the drug began to take effect. I appreciated that! A second pain med had to be administered and by the time I was rolled to get a CT scan, I was feeling much better. The PA in the ER knew exactly what to, popped in frequently to check on me and practically held my hand as the stone passed. The facility was SPOTLESS. All the staff were calm and kind and seemed to really like being in the medical field, helping people. I usually have more questions than the average patient, and each person I came in contact with STOPPED and took time to answer all my questions. You don't want to have a medical emergency when you're on vacation. But I am truly thankful that Ascension Sacred Heart was close by for my needs. Great place. Great people.

People and treatment was outstanding and my nurse was an Absolute pleasure in a bad time. But 14k for the "Surgical Procedure" (a colonoscopy) alone is absolutely atrocious and downright sickening. 0 Stars if possible.

They brought him upstairs to CVICU and was cared for in there until his death on July 1 2017. Myself and my family were met by Fernando and Hannah. Then Chey'ne which was pernounced like Shawn. Then there was Heather and Bryan and a few more my memory can't remember. But I want to say that these nurses made our stay there bearable with so much compassion. They were very attentive to our needs but to my husbands needs most of all. I will never forget the many tears I shed by my husbands bedside and a soft hand on my back and shoulder asking me if they could do something for me. Their hugs were so comforting esp Fernando and heather. We were also blesssed with great Dr's that did everything they could for my Jimmy when he got into the ICU. Though they didn't have answers they worked hard to help him. For 6 days the whole staff went above and beyond making us feel like our loved one had the best. Thank you from the Jimmy Page family. On the afternoon of July 3, 2025, l was experiencing pain, nausea, palpitation, and excessive…read moreswelling on my left arm which is indicative of a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) from an insect sting/bite and required immediate medical attention. As a result, I contacted the Veterans Administration Community Care line for prior authorization and was provided a referral number (which covered 100% of my visit) for a VA " In -Network" service provider ( American Family Care, Enterprise , AL. ) under the Veterans Administration Missions Act of 2018. After arriving and completing the required documents, I provided the receptionist a copy of my VA identification card and referral number as provided by VA. Approximately Ten (10) minutes later,. the receptionist called me up and requested a debit or credit number to be placed on file for my respective visit. I informed the receptionist that my visit was fully coveted by the VA, and that I only had in my possession my VA ID Card and the referral number from Community Care that guaranteed full coverage for my visit. As instructed by Community Care, I also informed the receptionist that I was seeking care under the Missions Care Act of 2018. The receptionist then stated, " Without a debit or credit card being placed on file, you cannot been seen." I immediately called Community Care regarding this issue, and was again instructed to tell the receptionist my visit was covered at 100%, and was instructed to give her their number (877-881-7618) for verification purposes. After being denied a second time, I requested to speak with a supervisor regarding the issue, and provided her with the same information as received by from Community Care. The supervisor stated the same, informing me ,"It is AFC's policy to deny patient care if the patient does not provide a debit or credit card to be placed on file." It was at this point, I left the establishment and called Community Care for an alternate In- Network service provider. I later received a new referral number for Ivy Creek of Enterprise, AL. I provided the receptionist at Ivy Creek my VA ID card and referral number(which she verified by calling the aforementioned phone number), and I was processed, treated, and released within Thirty (30) minutes after my arrival time. It is my opinion, that American Family Care fail to fulfill their service agreement as an In -Network Service Provider for the VA. Due to the fact that AFC's local policies conflict with how outside care is obtained under the VA Missions Act of 2018, and feel they should removed for the Veterans Administration list of In -Network providers. As a Veteran who has faithfully served this country for over Two Decades (Four Campaign Stars), I was denied care when I needed it the most. The allergic reaction I was experiencing could have easily turned deadly, but in lieu of being treated, I was repeatedly denied care (due to local policy) after completing the steps required by VA Community Care to be seen by an In Network provider. It was apparent that life, limb, or eyesight doesn't matter to this facility. As a result, I feel AFC should be removed from the VA''s Community Care list of In-Network providers and recommend that if you are a Veteran interested in being seen under the Missions Act of 2018, that you DO NOT USE this VA In-Network facility. She told me that I had to select "new patient" even if I had been here before, and to try again. It never asked me if I was a returning patient or a new patient, but I tried again, 2 more times before I took it back to her. Then she tried. Then she tried on a different iPad. Then she said, "You're right! OK. I'll enter you manually--no problem." Everyone was super nice other than that. There was only 1 parking spot open in the lot, so I suspect it has just been a really long day for her. They were keeping things moving smoothly other than the hiccup with my checkin.
