Since both Drs Adams left this facility it has gone terribly downhill. Are there even any doctors left at the Honokowai location?

We have used this clinic during past trips to Maui. This clinic must hire for attitude as well as competence because in the three times we have been here the care has been amazing. Very competent, thorough (xray machine on site), and able to handle a difficult diagnosis. Dr. Kari Adams treated me on this trip and I was particularly impressed. She was very a very good clinician but what stood out with her however was her smile, her upbeat and enthusiastic outlook. Just being with her cheered me up. Our 16 y.o. daughter had been in the ER for a weird virus 2 days before our Maui vacation. The ER gave us permission to fly since they got her temperature under control. Flash forward to Monday and we fly and arrive and she is tired but they said to expect that. Saturday early am she comes into our room saying she feels terrible. Took one look, got out our thermometer (yes I packed one) and it was 104.5. I knew she needed to be seen asap and our hotel referred us to Doctors on Call. We arrived and were immediately put into a room a she was evaluated and we told them the story of our ER visit. They started an IV and begin doing test after test trying to also figure out what it might be. She had 2 bags of fluids, a strep test, a flu test and all were negative. Her fever went down and they said let's try a Zpack it might work. It did!! The next day she was almost back to normal but had an itchy rash all over, we call and they prescribe her something to fix that and she was a snorkel queen the rest of vacation. 3 days later my hubby had to go have his ear flushed after a night of pain after a day of beach fun. 5 star star service! read more

Getting sick on vacation is never fun but Doctors on Call is an excellent place to get top notch treatment. I went in for bronchitis and a sinus infection and quickly got in after filling out the normal paperwork. Front and back office staff are superior to any urgent care I have ever used. Happy faces with smiles, professional but still friendly. Dr. David Adams quickly and professionally diagnosed my condition and I was impressed with his caliber of care. He was friendly and pleasant like the staff. If I ever get ill in Maui again there is no doubt where I will go for treatment. I wish my regular doctor and his staff were as good. They gladly accepted my Medicare and United Healthcare supplemental coverage after being turned down at another place in Lahaina when I called in to get an appointment. read more

We had a great experience here. They were thorough, friendly, and efficient. Our son had an ear infection and was in a lot of pain. It was a Sunday evening, so all of the pharmacies were closed. They gave him his first dose of antibiotics and numbing drops in the office so he would have a good night. The doctor and nurse were both very kind and sweet with him. The bill came to about $200, and they don't directly bill insurance. But they did provide an itemized receipt for us to submit to insurance. read more

We came in over our vacation because it was right around the corner from our hotel, and had decent reviews on yelp. We waited a LONG time, but that was because there was only one doctor in the office and he really did take his time with each patient. So I can't complain about that. Everyone in the office was very friendly, hopefully I am remembering the names right: Sarah the nurse, Christine at the front desk, and Dr Estin were all great. Great bedside manner and overall friendly and professional. Urgent care on vacation can be a hit or miss but this was a great experience. Thank you!! read more

Great service. We were on vacation and a cut on my leg got infected. They cleaned it out, dressed it, gave me a tetanus shot and got my prescription down the block within 45 minutes. Quick, courteous, professional service. An added bonus most of the staff were Seahawk fans! read more

We needed to have my nine-year-old daughter checked by a doctor the day after she suffered a concussion while we were on vacation. I brought all of our paperwork from the hospital, but it took the receptionist AN HOUR to realize that the doctor would only see her if he had the hospital's own records. At that point, without apology or explanation, I was asked to fill out another form to release her hospital records via fax (a process that can involve a great deal of waiting). Although claiming to see patients based on their need for triage care, they saw several extremely minor cases in the hour we were there. Everyone who was there when we walked in--in addition to five people that came in after--were seen before they even asked for the release. I cannot speak to the quality of the doctors because we walked out well before we ever were able to see one. However, I can speak to the incompetence of their office staff. A so-called urgent care facility should employ staff that are aware of its own policies and are able to offer patients care in a relatively timely manner. read more

Loved my short experience at this urgent care facility. My wife and I are on vacation and long story short, after a boogie boarding wipe-out, I needed assistance. I waited only about 15min (it was about 5pm), the facility was very clean, and between the nurse and Dr. Chun, I was treated with excellent care and kindness. Albeit staffed by extremely competent and professional doctors and medical staff, A BIG FAIL for Kaleka at the reception desk. In spite of being in the DOC system, since she has been a client since 1992, when stating that she did not have her wallet but did have her HMAA number, my daughter was admonished by Kaleka that she would not be allowed back to see the Doctor without an ID! Kaleka had not asked and had no idea what the urgency was. Nor did she waiver when told that both Dr.Estin and Dr. Adams were familiar with our family. Kaleka needs to learn how to be the concerned compassionate face of an URGENT CARE center not the the id seeking bank teller that has to work on a weekend looking for ways to deny service and care to those in need. read more

Thought I would try DOC after not being able to get an appointment with my primary care doctor and was glad I visited this clinic in the Times Market shopping center in Honokawai. I walked in early Monday morning and after filling out some forms I was able to be quickly seen by Dr David Adams. He put me at ease, did a thorough interview and exam. He never made it feel like he was rushing through things although I'm sure they strive to see as many people as possible. I felt I was in very competent and knowledgeable hands. I had been to Minit Medical (I think that was the name of the urgent care clinic in Lahaina Gateway) a couple of times and DOC is far superior. The DOC receptionist was personable and patient (even though I forgot to respond to the most important question on the intake form..."reason for my visit"...auwhee). The nurses were great and the billing clerk polite and efficient. We're lucky to have this clinic on the West side. read more

I was experiencing extreme pain in my arm. Doctors on call was on our insurance plan. We decided to go to this office based on their great yelp reviews. It was worth the extra drive time. Dr. David Adams was wonderful. They took extra x-rays to assure nothing was unusual. Turns out it was my shoulder rotator cup. Got a prescription for the pain and picked it up at the next door. My husband and I came down with an upper respiratory infection while staying at our condo in Maui. We used the clinic on Lower Honoapiilani Road. We were very impressed with their service. The employees were very nice and efficient. We were in to see the doctor within 30 minutes and he called in our prescription to the Times Market which is in the same shopping center. Landed in Maui yesterday and already had a cold brewing. Woke up today and felt like full blown bronchitis. Went across the street to this urgent care and was in and out in less than an hour! What a life saver this place was! And I hardly had any wait! The entire staff was super friendly and helpful. Got antibiotics and a prescription faxed over to the pharmacy to pick up! The receptionist was especially nice and friendly! So thankful for this place and it being right across the street from where we are staying!! read more

If you have to take a trip to urgent care this is the place to go! I got a cold the day we flew in to Maui and after a few days my ears were still plugged and causing a lot of pain. I walked in with no appointment and was checked in, seen by a very nice Dr, and checked out in less than 30 mins. I did pay out of pocket but it was worth every penny and they gave me an itemized bill to submit to my insurance company for reimbursement. Another plus was that the pharmacy was only a couple of doors down and the prescription was ready in about 10 mins! read more

The facility was clean with very friendly staff, great service. The doctor was very nice and personable, she listened and gave me excellent advice. She called in a script for ear drops and said for me to tell them to call back for a "generic" brand if the pricing was too expensive. In and out in less than 40 minutes. I had the unfortunate need of requiring 3 visits here throughout my 3 week vacation. Fortunately, Doctors on Call was near our stay! They first treated me for a poison ivy rash, which healed up quickly thanks to them! A week later, they were so considerate and professional helping me with a severe ear infection, ensuring that it would be safe for me to fly home. They took my concerns and pain seriously and truly were compassionate. They had me feeling better that day! Dr. Lindsey and many of the nurses and practitioners were so kind, understanding, and helpful. Great professionals for helping me out in such a crappy time during my vacay. On the flight over to Maui I came down with a horrible sore throat, body aches and cough. After two full days of feeling like this I went to Doctors on Call. I showed up at 8am when they opened and was seen fairly quickly, there were a few people in front of me. I was seen by Dr. Blank. She was friendly, efficient and very helpful. She set me up with meds and I was on my way. I started feeling better by the next day and was able to enjoy the rest of my vacation. I am usually one that reads reviews on yelp and doesn't always leave a review, only for a select few. But I have to say, my husband was ill on our stay in Maui in November. We were hesitant to stop by to what i would call a doc in the box. But how wrong I was. It was professional from the moment we walked in, to the end of the appointment. And it was nicer inside than most doctors offices. We first got there, and a basketball player from U of A there with his athletic trainers, etc who injured himself during the basketball tournament. It met their high standards. But the real test was my husband. He was so ill, we were convinced he had the flu. He saw Dr Kari Adams, she asked us a bunch of questions and sure enough it wasn't the flu it was something completely different. But seriously, I know most doctors would hear the symptoms and give him tamiflu and send us on our way. But she actually talked to us, asked many questions to dissect his symptoms and then did a flu to test confirm it was definitely not the flu. I wish I could give them more than five stars. I am one that reads reviews on yelp, so it was only right that i shared this experience because it meant so much to us that she diagnosed him correctly. Thank you so much Dr Kari Adams. read more

During our vacation on Maui I got a bacterial infection. I walked in to this establishment because it was close to our condo. I was greeted with a very friendly receptionist. After sitting for a few minutes I was called back and the nurse took my information. She took me to a room and I figured I would be waiting forever to see the Dr. To my surprise he came in quickly and diagnosed what I had. He was very friendly and professional. I was in and out in 20 minutes. It's not very often that you encounter an entire office staff that is happy and friendly. read more

Fast and efficient. The nurse fixed my wife's ear blockage with humor and expertise so there was little to no stress at all. Dr. Norm handled everything (including prescriptions) with "alacrity" and even gave us the inside scoop to great dining and shows! We had a client who had a seizure ran next door told the nurse/receptionist we need help our client passed out the nurse ask what the problem was and told her she passed out and never came to see what the situation was after our client regain conscious went back to the doctors on call office and told them thanks for coming and check on our client if she is ok or not then the receptionist told me that they can't come out of their office to help that we needed to call the ambulance after the fact. The person could have died never recommend this place. So what happen if someone needed help outside their door they won't help the person till they get them in their office? read more

Felt like my Bronchitis was coming on due to windy humid conditions. Woke up this a.m. not able to swallow and swollen throats glands, knew I was in trouble. Looked up Urgent Care Clinics near Kapalua and found Doctors on Call with good reviews so decided to try them. From start to finish this was an outstanding experience. Great staff from check-in to check-out and the nurse who attended me was friendly, detailed in explanations on what she was doing and what to expect and extremely professional, as bad as I felt, this ladies made me feel so much better! Dr. Bennett was exceptional. Great listening skills, empathy and wonderful "bed side manner". Turns out I have Strep, not Bronchitis, but some bronchitis symptoms as well, so cough pills, an albuterol inhaler as well as antibiotics were prescribed and a steroid shot administered. I hope you are not ill in Maui, but if you are, this is your go to place. Aloha. I know I will be better soon, meds in hand now, and confident I will be feeling better soon. read more

Not a fan of urgent cares at all. Always a long wait. Not sure if that's a California thing or not but this place was amazing! Extremely fast and the care was over the top! By the time we brought our daughter in for an ear infection all of the local pharmacies were closed so they gave our daughter a shot of antibiotics to hold her over until we could make it to the pharmacy the next morning. Five star service to say the least. And the staff is the icing on the cake! Everyone was professional and caring. read more

After almost two days of my sons severe ear ache and low temperature we took our 9 year old here to get checked out. He did have an ear infection, had his ear cleaned out so the drops would work better. We had a great experience from the receptionist, RN and Dr. Estin was awesome! He was patient with my son whose ear was very sensitive . A couple hours later my son was feeling significantly better. They called in the meds we needed to the pharmacy right next door. read more

I'm visiting this beautiful island and ran out of pain medication. I gave them my bottle from last prescription and all my doctors information so they could call my doctor cause the prescription he wrote me, they can't fill in Hawaii cause he's not a Hawaii certified doctor. They looked at my incision to make sure it was healing okay and that there was no infection since I was battling one the antibiotics took away. The people here are so sweet, very nice. I will come back here if we need to. I highly recommend the doctor on call and staff. read more
