I wasn't supposed to visit MinuteClinic as this wasn't my first choice. You see, my sister was trying to have me visit the clinic at the hospital where she works. But after 2 failed attempts to schedule an appointment, my sister referred me to MinuteClinic. I've had a rash irritation for about a month now and the over-the-counter cortisone cream just wasn't doing the job. When my sister, who is a registered nurse by profession, saw my rash she advised me to see a doctor to get a prescription for something stronger. My sister made all of the arrangements where she scheduled my appointment online to this MinuteClinic. She texted me the confirmation number and I drove to this location. This MinuteClinic is located deep inside Moili'ili Longs. As I walked up there was a kiosk where you check in by typing your confirmation number for the appointment and other personal information. At that time one of the staff came to check up on me but she realized I didn't require further assistance, I completed the check in with breeze. During the check in process, I was a little hesitant with the system requesting my credit card information for future balances due, after my insurance coverage. Call me old school as I'm used to waiting for the bill to come in and you write a physical check. I had to trust the system so I eventually agreed. Once all completed, Dr. Ivrys Dukes came to greet me and escorted me into a private office. At that time I presented my insurance card and DL as identification. She inquired on my visit and as what a physician would ask, she questioned me thoroughly to get a better understanding of my rash irritation. My blood pressure and temperature were taken with no signs of illness. She then advised me the use of cortisone with some steroids (mid-level) and at that time I mentioned previously using it for an allergy when I worked in the floral industry. When I advised her I picked up my prescription at Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center Long's, she called to confirm and indeed I was previously prescribed triamcinolone. She made arrangements for me to pick my prescription up at the same Long's as I was to report to work later in the day. Overall, I had a surprisingly very pleasant experience at this MinuteClinic and wouldn't hesitate coming back again. I was very nervous when reading all of the low ratings prior to my appointment here as this was my very first time with this minute clinic. However, with the staff that was on call, they were just the opposite of what the reviews were claiming. Not sure who the reviews were referring to but the two women that were at the clinic were very respectful and informative when I came in. Their kiosk was having issues so although I had checked in on there, it didn't show on their system which led to me waiting for about 5 minutes or so before someone came out. However, the lady was able to get my information and manually check me in - I ended up getting seen before my actual appointment time. The woman taking care of me for my TB test was very kind and asked questions regarding my vaccination history. I have to come back in the next few days but I'm hopeful that the clinic will be just as respectful when I come back the second time. I would recommend this minute clinic to anyone getting any vaccines or check ups done. Zero stars. Saw the reviews and went anyway as I was not feeling well. Got there and the door to office was open. NP was telling person in front that they could not be seen until Tuesday and helped her make an appointment on kiosk. Mind you, it says walk ins if available and No ONE else was there. They do not close until 5:30 and it was more than an hour before closing time. Area totally empty. She then turns to me and I ask if I could be seen today. Her answer. No more appointments for today. Next appointment is on Tuesday. Not even enough consideration to ask what do I need or what was wrong. In other words, you don't care, so get out of my face. If I could give zero stars I would. I sat outside of the exam room with my nauseous daughter for about an hour before we were seen. I told the LPN that my daughter needed to use the restroom.. to vomit, and she proceeded to see 2 other patients who arrived only minutes before we were supposed to be seen. I came in here around 8:45am Tuesday and met the rudest nurse ever, as I was entering my information on the screen, she was already pre screening me as to why I was coming here. I told her I'm not going to discuss this out here in the public as there was other people waiting to make an appointment. I honestly don't think she should be in a profession that involves in dealing with people, Her manners would suit her to work in a online format. After her trying to interrogate me, I told her to forget it, I'm just going to see my primary care physician and in saying that the other people in line behind me left too, which I believe was her intention in the first place. So it really depends how many people and what kind of illnesses those people have ahead of you. What I mean is I went in in the morning, there were two people ahead of me and after an hour of waiting, I decided to come back after work. When I came back in the afternoon, there was absolutely no line and I was seen right away. The whole process was a breeze! I liked that the electronic sign in remembers all your information. Super plus. The doctor (is she a doctor? I'm not sure, but she prescribed me medication, so I'm thinking she is) I saw was so friendly and made me feel so comfortable. I want her to be my primary cafe physician. Orrrr maybe I can just keep coming here when I have a problem. :) It was so easy to get my prescription filled right at the longs pharmacy (open 24 hrs) and the cashiers at the pharmacy were nice enough. I am NOT surprised to see how many bad reviews this place has. It's not the CVS standard employees that is terrible, it's the Minute clinic employees at this location that are rude and condescending. I have been early two out of the three times, to this specific minute clinic. The times I showed up early, I had to wait for a long time with no ETA. To add further, the nurses and staff at this clinic are never pleasant nor are they nice. Well I was late today, 15 minutes and they cancelled my appointment and said I have to sit there and wait without a time estimation until all of their patients are seen since I was "very late" as she states. So bottom line is if you want to be treated rudely, wait if you are early, and be cancelled if you show up 15 minutes late, this is the place for you! read more

I waited over 1hr to be seen for a sinus infection and to get a z-pac. The pharmacy pointed me to the minute clinic. The gentleman at the medical clinic was away for lunch for one hour. When he returned he made me wait for 30 minutes because my appointment was for 30 minutes later. When I finally was seen he said have you been tested for COVID? I replied no I have been vaccinated and my systems are not consistent with COVID. He said I need to rule out COVID we will need to run a test on you and it will cost you $200. I said I only need a Z pac. He said I do not do business this way... he then open the door and showed me the way out! I don't understand how going in for a sinus infection and not being treated at all qualifies as customer care. read more

So right off our first landing in Waikiki, my wife had an issue with her foot, so we ended up having to swing by the Minute Clinic to get it checked out before we could start enjoying our vacation. She was really upset that she might have ruined the vacation, but I wasn't too worried because it just seemed like a bad case of athlete's foot. We were still filling out the little computer check in information when the nurse popped right out and took my wife in with no wait. I think she had her checked out, a prescription put in to the pharmacy, and the bill squared all within about a half hour. Best of all, she had good bedside (tableside?) manner, which by the end of the visit had my wife calm and aware that nothing serious was wrong, which in her mind saved the vacation. read more

I had a good experience here . I waited one hour , but that was because I did not know I could make an appointment ahead of time . The wait was pleasant , as I got some shopping done inside Longs. I went in with an infected cut , and it was handled quickly and easily. They did try to charge me , but when I told them my deductible and out of pocket max had been reached for the year, it was resolved very quickly. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the scope of services is unclear. I was a little worried because of all the negative reviews about the service but our Nurse practitioner was very friendly and made my daughter feel at ease. Definitely make an appointment online. Wow! In and out in 25 minutes! We came because our regular doctor's office was closed for the day. My daughter thought she had an ear infection but it turned out she just had some fluid trapped behind her tympanum. Instead of prescribing the now useless antibiotics, the NP suggested a Zyrtec and some steroid nasal spray like Flonase, which we already had. She said it was more likely that my daughter's eustachian tubes were clogged, and participating in activities like swimmer were just exacerbating the condition with increased pressure, making it feel like an infection. She also recommended taking the Flonase at night, giving the medicine a chance to settle in and really work. She also said those types of meds are preventative and would take about 3 days to be really effective. She further recommended that my daughter use it more regularly to increase effectiveness. So far it's working exactly as described! Check in is via computer that you do yourself so no having to spell your name 10 times or hope someone else can read your handwriting. Just have your ID and insurance card ready to verify! See what a fantastic visit?! So much information and so useful! After we were done she printed out some paperwork with a summary of the visit. And they took our insurance so no copay! We will absolutely return here! read more

Last week my ear was aching from what I thought might be an ear infection. Unfortunately, my PCP was unable to see me until a week after. I tried my best to wait it out, but as my symptoms became worse I sought alternatives. A friend recommended Minute Clinic. I was skeptical at first, but now I'm so grateful I utilized their services. In a state of panic, I arrived 45 minutes early because I was due for another commitment in the later morning. I read some other Yelp review that mentioned a long wait time and I wasn't about to take a chance. I waited in the back area of CVS next to the Sunbeam hot water pots until they opened at 9 AM. At 9 AM, the electronic patient intake kiosk was ready to go. Basic questions regarding contact information and a very brief survey of your current state of health. Insurance information and ID verification is done once you're being seen by the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Unlike a traditional Registered Nurse, APRNs are able to prescribe medication. Anne, APRN, was so wonderful and patient. She confirmed that I had an ear infection and even went through some options for treatment. It was an additional bonus that my prescriptions were already on file at this location. This perk also saved me an extra trip to pick up my medication. Overall, this was an excellent alternative to suffering through another week until I got to see my PCP. Thanks Anne! read more

I thought maybe it was a customer, but one of the occupants walked out and back in to the employee area. The lady came out to call my name. She asked "So , where are you coming from?" I just finished work at a construction site, so my jeans were dirty and I had dust all over my face. I already got the feeling that she didn't want to take care of me. I may have also gotten the same NP others have and with similar rude treatment. Although I was checked for flu, I don't think she did a check of my nasal or ear passages. I was concerned about still not feeling OK enough to go back to work, and she said she "couldn't give everyone a free vacation for time off." I was prescribed medications that might make driving hazardous and have a history of being hospitalized for asthma- so I don't think it was out of line to be cautious about going back to work if I didn't feel good. I would recommend going here for a flu vaccination if you are having trouble seeing your primary care doctor, but it's like what someone else said earlier- at least you know what you'll expect with your regular doctor. read more

Worse Minute Clinic ever! The NP was very rude. Arrived for my daughter's appointment and checked in. The check in screen showed her and another individual present. The NP was currently servicing a family. Waited 30 minutes, a child comes out and calls the other child in. At that point, it was way past our appointment time. When the child went in all of a sudden the screen cleared and deleted my daughter's name and another patient's name. When the NP was done with the second child, she came out and acted like we never checked in. She said the "system" automatically cancelled our appointments because we were late even though we were already checked in. She was the one that was running behind, and we had to pay for it. We were forced to reschedule our appointment because our appointment was "cancelled." Never using this Minute Clinic again. I recommend finding other locations. read more

I tried calling for over 25 minutes and was unable to reach a live body. When I pressed "5" to get transferred to their call center, I reached a fax instead. It was very irritating. After driving around for 15 minutes looking for parking and finally finding one, I went to register. Just imagine my surprise when they were no longer taking patients at 6:40. Even more irritating. I usually have no problems here with previous NP's but today's one was just so condescending and RUDE. I highly regret not getting her name. Reading other recent reviews it seems like the same rude and arrogant provider is to blame for the negative feedback. Hopefully someone with authority can resolve this problem because I've never had any complaints until today. Waiting a long time as a walk-in is not fun but understandable given that you are a walk-in but being rude is unnecessary. After being sick for a few days I had to go and see a doctor. Unfortunately it was a weekend so my primary care physician was not available. I googled for a bit to find a place close by to go to and found this place inside the Longs Drugs. I arrived 15 minuted before they opened and I was first in line. They have a small computer to enter your information to. Unfortunately if their computer do not automatically take your insurance card you will have to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed. (which i had to do). Quick, knowledgeable and nice staff. Easy to just get the prescription just 10 feet from the clinic For a new patient visit and a strep test it cost me $130. Today they even called to follow up and see how I was feeling - AMAZING service. I will definitely go back if ever needed to. read more

Starting a new job, TB test required, decided to opt for the "convenience" of the Minute Clinic instead of going through Kaiser. Big mistake. Minute Clinic accepts some insurance, but not Kaiser. OK, I can live with that, if everything else is cool. But it's not. On Friday morning, I paid $35 up front to have the test administered by NP Jaime, who tells me to come back Sunday morning for the read. Led me to believe the read would be free and convenient. It was neither. Steven charged me another $29 and asked preliminary screening questions (travel outside the country etc.). My wife's been a physician for 15+ years, says I shouldn't have been charged for the read (inappropriate if not illegal) AND I shouldn't have been asked any questions at that point. A read is just a read with a sign-off on the form. My son had a TB read last week at Kaiser and it was MUCH faster, with no screening questions and no charge. Perhaps even more irritating, I was only the third person in line at 10 AM start of business on Sunday but had to wait over an hour (estimated wait time at check in was 18 minutes). First guy grumbled about how much time it took him to complete the touch screen check-in, but during his consultation he spent NEARLY AN HOUR in the MINUTE CLINIC. Dude surely knew there were lots of people waiting behind him. I can't fathom having that much disrespect for other people's time. When it was finally my turn, Steven's comment to me was "that first guy talked too much." Really? Who let him do all that talking? If you want the aggravation of waiting behind patients with total disregard for your time, plus the possibility of being subject to inappropriate charges, then by all means, head on down to CVS Minute Clinic. read more

I checked in as a walk in and it said I would be the first after their lunch break which the screen indicated that 2:00 they would return. I waited since 12 and by the time 3:30 rolled around, im still waiting for my appointment. I signed in today as a walk-in at around 2:30-2:45, and waited over 2 hours to be seen. I got the reminder text message once my wait time dropped under 30 minutes and waited patiently to be seen. As soon as my name jumped to the top of the list, it disappeared. Another patient who was watching the board noticed it before I did and let me know that my name and another patient's name had disappeared. I figured I'd ask the lady what happened to my name once she came out. She called out for the patient after me, and upon asking her what happened, she impatiently waved me off saying that she had no control over the kiosk and the best thing to do was to sign in again and deal with the wait time. Now I understand that there was a long queue, I was just a walk-in, and she is a busy person, but the way she waved me off really aggravated me. Instead of offering a viable solution or a sincere apology, she just told me she can't "guarantee the wait time" and waved me off. I made no comment about the wait time, I was simply asking her why my name was gone when it was at the top of the list. I had waited there for 2 hours and made eye contact with her multiple times. I received very prompt and professional care from the Nurse Practitioner, Melissa Fletcher, on Christmas Eve. Melissa has a wonderful "bedside manner" and is very thorough and good at what she does. I will definitely go back to the Minute Clinic to see her for my healthcare needs in the future. The location is also very convenient. I went here to get a flu shot and it was fast and easy! They have an electronic check-in system to sign up for an appointment when you're there that's easy to figure out. Just don't come during lunch hour because you will have a longer wait time. It's nice that it was all electronic because everyone hates paperwork at the doctor's! I'll definitely be back if anything else should come up, it's so convenient! They take most insurance and if you don't have any, they have the price list online or you can inquire by calling. They are pretty low prices compared to urgent care or ER. Definitely check it out if it's too inconvenient to go in and see your regular doc. Wasted my afternoon at this clown act. I needed to renew my commercial drivers license medical clearance. I used Minute Clinic in Moiliili last year and it went pretty well, so I thought I'd use them again. Before I went, I got on-line and entered all my information in the clinic's website. The Minute Clinic website doesn't actually give you an appointment; instead they expect you to race over there and wait. The on-line registration, I guess, takes the place of the kiosk inside the store and that's all. As part of the registration, I selected "DOT Physical". Since it was the lunch hour, I waited until after 1:00 before I drove over. At 1:05, I arrived and saw that the sign on the door said "Will return at 2:00". (My fault, it actually lists their lunch hour on the website.) So, I killed an hour and came back after 2:00. When I signed in on their kiosk, I was informed that my appointment had expired. Again, when you register on-line, you are never told that you actually have an appointment. I re-entered all my information, including the purpose of my visit, the DOT physical. After about 20 minutes, the nurse came out and told me that she wasn't certified to conduct the DOT physical. She suggested that I come back on Saturday, or I could go to the Aiea or Waikiki stores today. I asked her to confirm that the nurse at the Waikiki Minute Clinic was certified. While speaking with the nurse at Waikiki, she started asking me about my prescription meds and my primary care physician. After she got off the phone, she told me that I would need a letter from my physician stating that my meds were stabilized. Seriously? For statin drugs? What's the point of going to this clinic if they need permission from another doctor to do their job. They want my doctor to write a letter-for free-so they can make money giving me a clearance. That's nonsense to put it politely. I packed up my stuff and headed over to Island Urgent Care in Kahala. Should have gone there to begin with. Very nice and helpful people. I recommend you only use the minute clinic if you can't wait until you can meet with your primary care physician (PCP) or don't have one. The clinic is convenient but I still think think you're better off seeing your PCP. KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GETTING. I knew I wanted a typhoid vaccination for travel. I went to the clinic and they told me the vaccination is never covered by any insurance. I left without it and called my insurance and they confirmed that the vaccination and administration of it is fully covered by my plan. I went back to the clinic and told them what my insurance told me, the physician at the clinic told me I just needed to pay upfront and work with my insurance for the reimbursement so I got it. Later I called my insurance and my insurance said the clinic is supposed to have filed a claim to them and I didn't need to pay (fyi they also said the clinic is associated with them so they should know). My insurance tried calling the clinic, but guess what, the clinic doesnt take calls. So I had to go back to the clinic and call my insurance to have them talk to each other. The take away: KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING AND IF IT'S COVERED. They lied to me and told me to pay upfront even though they didnt know for sure. In addition: I knew exactly what I wanted and asked for my vaccine on the spot. But they charged me a "travel consultation" charge. When asked what this was, they explained that it is a fee they charge patients when they have to explain to them what they need to get when traveling. But they didn't consult me anything. I went in and asked for the vaccination because I already knew what I needed from my own research and they just said okay and gave it to me. No additional advice and they still charged me a $60 consultation fee. Keep in mind I have insurance and if I went to my PCP my copay wouldve been $15. And the physicians there can't deal with payments. That's all taken care of by their mainland offices. Now I need to call their mainland billing office to be reimbursed. Most likely your PCP would have admins that know how to take care of claims and resolve payment issues on the spot. Headaches could've been avoided if I just stayed smart and went to my PCP. This clinic is here to make money (in the worst way possible). It's convenient but if you are not aware, they will over charge you in a heartbeat. If you are paying good money for insurance and have a PCP then go to your PCP! Get one if you dont have one! Keep the money local and don't put it in CVS' greedy pocket. Go here only if you can't wait til your appointment date. Update: I called the minute clinic billing department and was able to dispute the counseling charge. They informed me that HMSA also called them on my behalf to dispute my vaccination charges. Shout out to HMSA, what a company, putting money back into my pocket where it belongs. read more

I drove a rider to longs and she had the flu as I am an uber. It was very full of people who are not sick in the store and she may have infected many with her virus. I go to urgent care and stay away from pharmacies with clinics for the safety and health concerns. I see a doctor within minutes and they can have meds called in. This idea of shopping in a petri dish type environment is not smart. Go to a doctor and not a pharmacy for care. Yes you go to pick up your meds but car drive through windows are for you. read more

Terrible waste of my time and money! Will be complaining to management and trying to get my money back. First of all, the appointments are so impersonal. As soon as you walk in the clinic office, they sit down with you and ask you a bunch of questions and they are typing on the computer the whole time not even looking at you. I'm talking 20 minutes of computer time.. The computer provides the nurse with a flow chart of what to do. Furthermore, the nurse looked up in a binder full of guidelines what to do in my situation. She kept on saying but your condition doesn't meet my guidelines. I find it alarming about how unsure she was about things and that she needed to constantly be looking at flow charts to treat me! I work with nurses on a daily basis who have a better bedside manner and have the medical knowledge enough so to not have to read from a manual. I told her basically so you're refusing to prescribe me anti-biotics for either my skin condition or suspected infection then what's the point of this visit? (I'm also without a spleen so I am immunocompromised, had large swollen lymphe nodes, and a fever). Now, I have to pay you almost $100 for doing absolutely nothing. I had to go back to my GP who did what they were supposed to do and prescribed me the needed anti-biotics and other medication. Basically, these APRNs have no power at these minute clinics. This is major false advertisement as they say that they can prescribe medications and treat you for conditions like acne. You are much better off going to your REAL DOCTOR who actually has the power and authority to make some real medical decisions about your case . read more

Without telling me, the clinic sent their strep tests to the Mainland. As an HMO member, you're not allowed to see out of state providers without an administrative approval and they should be honest about sending labs out and use local labs. A year later, QUEST diagnostics bills me $260 for the full price of the labs. Also, this year my son had a very high fever twice and tested positive for the flu. The second visit was with Christina Wong at this clinic. I was charged $150 for Tamiflu from the pharmacist at Longs, since HMSA doesn't allow this drug more than once every 6 months. The Minute Clinic just had to do a simple drug retro precertification call or form for me to be reimbursed by Longs. But again they refuse, Longs employee was very snide and said the "clinic doesn't do forms and has no fax." :( read more
