I understand this facility is not capable of testing for a larger variety of issues, however they decided to prescribe him 2,000mg of Amoxicillin *per day*. His symptoms got worse, and when we continued to contact this facility they advised to stick with the dose. A week later we decided to take him into the ER, and it turned out to be Appendicitis-surgery immediately. Again, I understand that Urgent Care centers have limitations on their abilities. However, a transparent suggestion to seek further medical advice instead of feeding him antibiotics would have been a smart and transparent next step. Very upsetting.

The front desk told me that I had no insurance and paid a lump sum of $184.80. Then I told the doctor that I would be out in less than ten minutes. She also said that you don't need to see a doctor for this type of allergy, you can just go to a regular pharmacy and buy medicine yourself! No prescription medication and a month later they sent me another bill for $98.40! Said I chatted with the doctor for 35 minutes! It said that if it exceeds 30 minutes, it will be counted as 45 minutes!

I have had many struggles with my disease over the years, he has always been there to help. He even will work through a lunch so I can travel almost 3 hours for an appointment. I met with Dr Samec today who will now be my physician. He was familiar with my med history which put me at ease. He spent what I felt was a great deal of time talking to me and asking questions. He was so very patient with me as I shared issues about my med history I wanted him to be aware of. Dr Samec is experienced, thoughtful and caring. Working closely with Dr Samec is PA Laurie Hughell. If you are seeking treatment for osteoporosis or rheumatoid arthritis, I recommend Dr Samec and Laurie Hughell. I have trusted my care to this office for 18 years. I rarely write reviews but if you are new to the area or looking for a new provider, I highly recommend this team. Mutual trust must be the bedrock of a good doctor/patient relationship.

I must be doing something wrong (according to these reviewers) because I have zero complaints. I will never go anywhere else given a choice. I also went to the emergency there with a severe nosebleed several years ago at 3 AM and got great treatment that day, too. I had to wait a long time because my ENT Dr. Was performing an emergency surgery 100 miles away. I don't think it's coincidental that I've had such good treatment.

This was unplanned and at a great convenance as his family lives in a rural part of the state! -The downtown Mercy one was awful! I am literally scared if I ever end up there! The nurses were not compassionate or empathetic at all! He had horrible pain management and was talked down to by many of the nurses. There was yelling in the hall from a nurse to a patient as well. My Dad felt uncomfortable to ask questions and request care during his stay. We are from a way bigger city than Des Moines and did not expect such awful care! They just wanted to push him out despite his high pain. No thought or care for his condition or age! WE WILL AVOID THIS BRANCH OF HOSPITALS IN THE FUTURE! This hospital should study up on the organization UCHealth! This is the top tier care we are used to! What a awful culture and patient care model.
