Always excellent service with courteous staff. They usually have what I need for a fair price.

Dodge's Agway is a fascinating place geared towards farmers, gardeners, backyard bird watchers and pet owners. I can't speak about the livestock feeds offered, but there's usually some farmer's truck backed into the loading dock picking up supplies. They have a variety of pet foods. Decent selection of toys, leashes, etc. Prices are reasonable. Today I was looking for a new hoe to tackle weeds that, of course, are doing better than my perennials after this brutal winter. They didn't have the stirrup hoe I was wanting, but found something that will do just as well. Saw some lovely pansies and violas and couldn't resist the uplifting colors. Nearly picked out some herbs from the greenhouse (locally grown in New England) but with a lingering risk of frost, I'll hold off a bit longer. The checkout counter has been relocated since my last visit awhile back. It's moved from the right side back wall to more in the center of the store, allowing for more than one customer to be cashed out at a time speeding things up a bit, but the store is crammed full, so still a tight squeeze at busy times. I'm so all done with this place. The lady that runs the store is ruuuuuuude and clueless. I have my own reasons for wanting to buy grass seed late in the year. I didn't ask for your opinion about it, I also did not need to hear someone muttering "do what you want" under their breath. The previous time I came in here (the 2nd to the the last time) I was looking for an herbicide that would kill violets which were aggressively taking over my lawn. I made the mistake of asking her where it was located in the store she appears to be responsible for - she had no idea, but instead, I got her views on protecting the bees. Yes, we are all "pro-bee" I have access to the internet, newspapers, other media, I'm aware of the situation, again, didn't ask her, just wanted to know where to find a particular product. Instead, a fellow customer pointed it out behind some other bottles. I would recommend not only some customer service training for the staff here, but maybe also some classes on basic landscaping techniques. Maybe they could also bring them over to the Hampton Falls location so they could see first hand what the store should look like. (clean, organized, etc.) read more

Poor customer service! Poor inventory management. Out of stock or low inventory regularly. If you need a reliable source for farm animal provisions we do not recommend this business. My husband and i have a small farm. We spend almost $7000.00 a year at this establishment. We've been buying here for about 2 years. Some trips they would be out of stock on items we regularly purchased. We would have to make an extra trip back a day or 2 later in order to have what we needed. There were also situations with a very nasty employee. The man had zero customer service skills. We witnessed him being nasty to other customers as well. I'm sure we weren't the only ones who reported him as i don't think he's there anymore. Our most recent problem with this business arose last Monday. We needed hay and grain in order to be ready for the up and coming storm. We needed at least 10 bales of hay to get us through. When we got there they were almost out of hay only 18 bales in stock? So, not only were they almost out of hay they made thier lack of preparedness our problem by telling us they would only sell us 2 of the 18 bales??? Crazy! I was in disbelief! They have 3 store, why not have hay?? We travel almost an hour to this location. We have been regular customers for 2 years! They had 18, we needed 10. It wasn't like we were asking for all 18? I explained to the clerk that 2 bales is not going to help us especially since there was a storm coming. She kept insisting 2 bales per person. I requested the clerk call a manager at one of the other stores as we were told thier manager was off. The clerk said the manager at the other store was on vacation. The clerk then offered to call thier manager at home. She left came back and said thier manager ok'd for them to sell us the ten bales. Before leaving i thanked them and asked them to thank the manager. You would think that would have been the end of it. Well it wasn't. Today, my husband went to pick up some grain, during his visit he was told by the clerk he had to see the manager before he (the clerk) "could sell him anything"? My husband said he felt like he was being sent to the principles office. Hes a 70 year old man, he was embarrassed and humiliated. He was told by the manager (Donna) that they will no longer sell to us as a result of the clerk's calling her on her day off and telling her that we yelled at them (i guess it is easier to embarrass a 70 year old man than to actually be accountable for not ordering correctly, Shame on you.) about the hay situation. So to be clear i did not yell at the clerk's. Was i upset over the situation, yes! Did voice that, yes! I find it disgusting the lack of accountability of this business and it's employees. To make an inventory issue a customer's problem, then blame and embarrass the customer by telling them they are not welcome. Very poor customer service from these people. Very disappointed in the manger as well as the owner whom my husband was told gave his blessing to embarrass a 70 year old man. read more

Went in to buy 1 lb of grass seed. Service was awful. The woman working wasn't too excited to weigh it out, and then she did not tie the bag properly. I ended up with grass seed all over the front seats of my car! Took me 45min to vacuum it out. read more

Do not get a Christmas tree here! It was $35 but you get what you pay for. They do not cut the bottom for you so we did it ourselves and put it in water as soon as we got home. The tree was clearly not fresh, it only lasted about 10 days before it stopped taking up water and started turning brown and brittle. Never had that happen before in 35 years of buying Christmas trees. read more
