I had a wonderful experience getting my dress altered here at Doe's Alterations. A friend of mine got her dress altered here and recommended them. I'm so glad she did because I was very pleased with the care and service I had. Thao helped me and she was patient, helpful, and nice. They did a beautiful job altering my dress exactly how I wanted it. It was hemmed perfectly. I was able to pick up my dress on time and communication was great from start to end. I will be bringing my future alterations here. Their shop is clean and organized. I like how they have spacious changing rooms to try on before and after fitting. AVOID THIS BUSINESS IF POSSIBLE. My fiancé dropped her dress off two weeks in advance of pickup. Upon arrival of the scheduled completion the owner laughed and told her she forgot about the alteration. The owner then told my fiancé to come back the next day. When my fiancé told her she had a flight in the morning and needed the dress finished the owner then agreed to alter the dress in an hour. After she finished the dress, the owner yelled at my fiancé for being unhappy with the service. She said "stop wasting my time, give me my money and go." Zero accommodation was offered and when my fiancé finally got home the hem wasn't straight! Unbelievable! Terrible service and trashy establishment. Ridiculous. read more

I cannot give enough praise to this shop. I needed alterations done on a bridesmaid dress from my best friends wedding today. I came to the shop yesterday desperate and paniced the dress wasn't going to fit and I would have to tell this to my best friend. Not only did they get the alterations done in less than 24 hours. They came out PERFECT. The dress has a unique back piece and you cannot even tell it was taken out. I wish this shop was in Boston so I could visit them more often. I absolutely love this woman. I have taken countless pairs of jeans and dress pants to be hemmed, and she has never, ever altered them in a way that I didn't want them to be. For jeans (w/o orginal trim at the bottom), it's $8. To have the original trim at the bottom of the legs is $15. I've also taken in a bridesmaid's dress to have the seams let out. And the dress fit perfectly for the wedding. She charged me $75, whereas the other bridesmaids were charged about $110. If requested, she will have your garments ready as soon as possible. She'll usually have them done within the week if you go on a Monday, but she can work on your garments much faster if you request her to. read more

She is a very nice lady. I had a wedding to go to on Saturday and did not receive my suit until Thursday. Unfortuntely it did not fit, so I went to Yelp to find an alteration place. I contacted Doe's and she said she could turn it around in less than a day, so I went up there and dropped it off. The next morning I was able to pick it up and it was fabulous! The suit had lining in it so it was a little more expensive, but she tailored the sleeves and the pants in time for the wedding. read more

Furthermore, My Doe is very skillful and experienced in what she does as a seamstress. I enjoy doing business with Ms Doe because she gives great service and her work is awesome. I would strongly advise against coming here. I read the reviews and decided to give Doe's a chance based on the positive reviews, but my experience was very similar to the other negative reviews, and its just not worth the risk that you may also be one of the unlucky ones. I dropped a dress off to have it hemmed for a wedding, and she told me to pick it up on Thursday because I had to leave on Friday morning. This was a week and a half in advance. I show up on Thursday, and she says "uh oh" and walks to the back. She comes out laughing and tells me she got the days mixed up and hadn't started it yet...I didn't think it was funny. She says to come back tomorrow and she'll have it done. I told her I had to fly out on Friday morning before she opens, and she said to come back later that night. I live 30 minutes away, so I ask how long it'll take and she says an hour. I told her I would just wait because it wouldn't make sense to drive home. She told me to find something to do and come back. I told her I would wait; I didn't want to drive around in rush hour traffic for no reason. She said she didn't want me to wait because she would feel "pressured." Based on the blank stare I gave her in response, she decided to just get started on the dress and said it was my choice. She did get it done in an hour, and told me the price. I asked if that was the full price, and she said yes. I told her I didn't want to pay full price because it wasn't done on time and I had to wait for an hour. She said she would give me a $5 discount, I asked for 20%. She said she had just rushed to get it done for me, and I said that wasn't my fault because I was there on the agreed upon day. She asked me why I didn't call ahead of time, and I told her she never asked me to, and why does it matter if we agreed on Thursday? She then raised her voice and told me to stop wasting her time and give her the money. I reminded her that she had just wasted an hour of my time. She agreed to the discount but then again yelled at me to stop wasting her time and leave. I wish I had just taken the dress and left when she told me it wasn't ready. When I got home and tried it on, I noticed that the hem is crooked and looks awful. So now I spent time and money ruining a decently expensive dress. If she had at least done a good job, I would give her credit for that despite the terrible customer service, but it was just all around a very unfortunate experience. I would go back and ask for a refund, but she had such an irrational and unreasonable response to begin with, I know it wouldn't be worth it and I'd rather not go back there at all. read more

I have been going to Doe for years! Every time I have gone, it has been for a deadline, and she is truly amazing with deadlines. I came to her several years ago with a pageant dress that I needed done by the next day. She completed the dress without flaw, and was ready to go before the pageant. I've taken almost everything to her, including jeans, blouses, and other formal dresses. She's great! read more

I was looking around to find a place to bustle my wedding dress. David's bridal starts at $45, just to sew a button or two and some loops. My friend suggested Doe's bc that is where she went for her wedding dress alterations. I believe she got a good deal on her dress alterations. I just can't remember how much she charged my friend. I called and the lady said that bustles start at $15. I couldn't believe it! I took my dress to her and the day she told me to pick it up, it wasn't ready yet. She was out of town for a couple of days, so I thought maybe she forgot. She said that she was sorry and asked if I could wait for her to complete it. It took 15-20 minutes to do. I would of given her 5 stars, but took a star off bc it wasn't ready on the day she promised and I had to wait on it. Regardless, she is really good! It is quite a drive from where I live, so I won't be a regular, but it was worth going to her for my $15 bustle. read more

this lady may be really good at pants, I do not know. But she absolutely ruined my expensive bridesmaid dress. I could not have been more disappointed. She did a nice job on my White Coat. I brought my dress in, it was way to large, she snipped at me for ordering a dress so large (it wasn't my fault, i lost weight!!), she then told me to come back in a week and that she would have it finished, and she told me to bring my shoes so she could hem it, i went back in a week with my shoes, she said it would be totally finished in 1 more day. i went back the next day, and she said to come back in 30 minutes. i went back in 1 hour and the hem was horrible. she had rushed the hem and it was all over the place the most uneven hem you can imagine. If this dress was too difficult for her she should have told me from the get go. She said she would fix the hem, I told her I had to have it in 2 more days, I went back in 2 days and the bust was loose, there were snags, and there was fabric poofing out around my breast. I had to leave in 1 hour for the wedding. she said to come back in 30 minutes, i went back in 1 hour, and she couldnt zip the dress up. (mind you i hadn't eaten or anything after i tried it on earlier that same day) she blamed me for it not zipping and then told me that i wasn';t holding the dress correctly. she made me feel horrible, got her assistant to hold the dress closed and still couldn't zip it. after being so rude to me she says "OH YA I SEWED IT TO THE WRONG SEAM" she yanked and ripped two strings, and the dress zipped, she goes "my fault". I had to pay 100 dollars for the dress and my white coat, I will never return, and I will never let any of my friends go there. All of my friends think it is ridiculous that I paid her at all. obviously she is good with pants, but she ruined my dress absolutely. read more

I came here to bring in a bodice and skirts a few inches, raise the sleeves, and have it hemmed. The experience has been a nightmare. I had to come in several times. One time, she forgot to work on it and didn't offer an apology, explanation, etc. One time, the hem was incredibly uneven. She told me she would add a seam in the side. The seam she added was at an angle that changed the silhouette and bubbled oddly. She insisted it was the bra I was wearing and the silhouette I originally had was wrong. I asked her to take out the seam and discovered that, without discussing this with me, she had cut into the dress to add the seam and thus there would be a big line in the dress. I asked her to take in a skirt in the back. She just moved over a clasp. read more

The owner of this shop is so disorganized. I had to get my wedding dress altered. She said it would be ready in one week. I went in and the dress was not even ready. I had to wait while she fixed it as I was in the shop. For the tuxedos and suits for ring bearer... That was a nightmare. She said one price... Then it changed once it was time to pick up. She is very unclear in every aspect. I would not recommend her to anyone.. Save the headache and frustration. Price is good.. But not worth the added stress to your special occasion. read more
