Dr. Neimic came highly recommended by my vet. I completely see why. He is gentle with the animals, extremely knowledgable, kind, and compassionate. He did an amazing job with my dog Frankie. He needed extractions and some bone grafting. Dr. Neimic guided me through the entire process. He took me back while my dog was under the visually show me what needed to be done both by looking at my dog and xrays. His facilities are exceptional and I felt so good about my decision to take my dog to him. If I could give more stars I would. Every single person at the Kearny mesa and sorrento valley location was kind and obviously loved animals. The front desk supervisor Christine was especially wonderful. Thank you all from Frankie and I.

We are so fortunate to have Dr. Niemiec of Dog Beach Dentistry aka Southern Veterinary Dental Specialties here in Southern CA. During a routine tooth cleaning our local veterinarian spotted two chipped canine molars on our Shiba Inu Puku. He showed me a picture of the broken teeth and exposed nerves. He referred us to Dr. Niemiec in San Diego. Dr. Niemiec and Dr. Skinner are great as are the front desk and vet assistants. Puku needed 2 root canals. They explained everything to us in great detail and provided an estimate. We then scheduled the surgery and returned later that week. During surgery they discovered a bone abscess that showed up on the x-ray. They brought us into the exam room to see the issues. We gave the green light to proceed. The surgery went great and Puku has fully recovered. That you for your dedication to veterinary dental care!!!

I have nothing but the best things to say about this amazing group of specialists. My 12 year old cat was referred by the VCA Emergency Vets after sitting in the ER for several hours and diagnosed with an avulsed canine incisor. She was in pain. I called early the next morning and they were so compassionate and arranged to have my cat be seen that day. Seeing the urgency of the situation they immediately put together a team and my cat underwent surgery this afternoon. I am so grateful unappreciative of this wonderful group of people and specialists. You could not do any better if you need to bring your pet to this wonderful group of people.

Dr.Niemiec and his team took the best care of our dog, Cooper! Cooper has a multitude of issues (allergies, hx of IMHA, cardiac concerns) and Dr.Niemiec took all of this into account to keep him safe and healthy. Cooper recovered so quickly and without issues. Our family is so grateful for the care and treatment we received from Dr.Niemiec! Thank you!

Thank you Dr. Niemiec for pulling the bad teeth and saving my beautiful smile. I might be 17, but l'm looking and feeling like a babe now!

I was very pleased with Dr. Niemiec, his staff and offices. My 17-yr-old Ocicat girl was in need of multiple tooth extractions. I was very concerned about her age and underlying condition of pancreatitis. Dr. Niemiec is extremely knowledgable, kind and compassionate. Dr. Niemiec carefully reviewed her history, lab work and examined her. My girl even let him look at her teeth the first visit, which is unusual. Her strong heart made her a good candidate. The day of surgery, Dr. Neimic guided me through the entire process. He took me to the room where my girl was under anesthesia. We looked at x-rays and discussed all of her options. His facilities and equipment are exceptional. Dr. Niemiec, a vet assistant, and a 2nd vet assistant who's job was to monitor my girls vitals on a large monitor were in the room. I've been in a few veterinary operating rooms over my years, but never seen one that looks as efficient as an ER operating room. My girl went home with me the same day. Besides little chipmunk cheeks, which I expected, she is doing remarkably well. The next morning I sent pictures of my girls cheeks and got a call a couple hours later. I love the fact this is a digital office and I can communicate by email and get a quick response. I chose Dr. Niemiec for a number of reasons. Some vets generally recommend removal of all teeth. Because of his knowledge my girl still has many of her teeth left. She even has one composite filling. Because of the monitoring, she never received more anesthesia than she needed. It was worth every penny to have a dental specialist. There is a link on the office website for a Care Card and Wells Fargo financing. We used the Care Card. Dr. Niemiec's exceptional skill may give my girl another 5 years or more of life. She can be pain free and for that I am grateful.

    My happy old puppy post-surgery.

From my first phone call, the woman I spoke with was kind, compassionate, and professional. She helped schedule us at my preferred location within an hour, which meant so much during a stressful time. My 11-year-old cat had been refusing food for several days, so I was understandably worried. Dr. Camacho and veterinary technician Gabriela were wonderful. They completed a thorough examination, clearly explained the possible causes, and walked me through the recommended diagnostic testing and next steps. I especially appreciated how transparent they were about the options and costs. I found the pricing to be very reasonable. The most significant cost was the comprehensive senior cat blood panel, which I understand is an important and necessary step in identifying and treating an issue that cannot be seen during a physical exam. While we are still waiting to learn exactly what is going on with my cat, I already feel reassured that we found such a kind, knowledgeable, and caring veterinary clinic. I look forward to continuing my cat's care with their team. Excellent customer service truly goes a long way. As someone who works in healthcare, I can recognize the difference that compassionate, respectful communication makes--especially when someone is worried about a loved one. West Coast Animal Hospital's front- and back-office staff were exceptional, and I hope more healthcare settings follow their example. I will update this review once we have more information about my cat's health.

Why can't we just pay for the xray we both know he needs vs paying you to tell us that? This place just seems like it's going downhill so we are going to be looking into switching. My dog Petrie (Pug, 8 years old) was suddenly vomiting blood and also had it in his stool. I was panicked, because in the 8 years I've had him, I've never seen him sick like that. I rushed him to an emergency vet even though B street is his primary care vet. The emergency vet had us wait for two hours just to hand us a pamphlet of where else we should go (in all fairness I'm sure there was more emergent medical issues going on there that they had to tend to first, and I was going to be on a long list of waits) but B street was at capacity that day and after I told them the issue they squeezed us in. They even gave us a private waiting room where the air conditioning worked better to wait in because my pug is a brachycephalic breed which usually do not do well in hot environments. During the first visit Dr. Olsen was very helpful and comforting to Petrie. She went over all the issues she thought it could be, all while petting my dog and making us feel comfortable. After labs/tests came back she explained everything in detail and very thoroughly about probiotics/antibiotics. Unfortunately I had to bring him back a few days later because his itching got worse (I'd assume unrelated to the first visit, he's just always had allergies) but he had a scratched so much overnight he had a horrible hotspot the next day. They told me I could come in the next day without hesitation and no appointment. The Doctor that saw him that day was Dr. Elena. She was just as professional and compassionate. She gave me tips and tricks on how to treat the itching better, and put him on a few more antibiotics after they shaved and cleaned the hotspot. I received two follow up emails reiterating treatment and what we spoke about in person. Not automated, real person to person emails. I really appreciated that. Petrie is doing much better thanks to these amazing women! Of course along side their brilliant team of techs and receptionists. The whole operation is so dialed in and kind!! Can't sing their praises enough.

They stay pretty busy, and the waiting area is small, so I prefer waiting outside or in my car since it gets crowded inside. They also take your dog in the back without you well before the exam, vaccines, or procedure. Just a heads‑up if that's something you care about or prefer to be present for. The staff themselves were very friendly -- upbeat, bubbly, and kind -- which definitely helps the experience. I was referred here by the rescue, so I came in for two vaccines. Even though the wait was long, everything went smoothly, and I got a call a few hours later to pick up my pup. Overall, a busy walk‑in clinic with friendly staff and straightforward care, but plan ahead for the wait and the drop‑off style.

Sassy is a chunky snowshoe breed, 10+ years old. Her previous owner passed away from Covid, and she became part of my family in 2023. In 2025, I was devastated to learn that she has Stage 4 renal disease. Her liver is failing, and without proper treatment, her life would have been cut short. Dr. Karen Kurowski and her incredible team--Lindsey, Nate, Sunny, Hyda, and the other compassionate vet techs--have been a lifeline. They gave me a clear plan to follow, supported me with each step, and have truly helped sustain Sassy's life. She is now on the right medications, and I give her fluid injections every other day as her "second kidney." Because of their care, Sassy has been able to live not just longer--but better. What I love most about this hospital is that it feels less about money and more about what's right for the animal. Veterinary care can be expensive, especially when you have multiple cats like I do. But here, I have always felt they try to keep costs reasonable and make sure I'm not overwhelmed. They are honest, practical, and thoughtful--always focusing first on the well-being of my pets. That kind of integrity means the world to me. Today, Sassy is thriving in her "fourth quarter." She doesn't know she is ill. She lives with joy, gratitude, and happiness every single day. It is my honor to care for her, and it is thanks to Dr. Kurowski and her team that she is enjoying this chapter of her life so fully. For anyone looking for a veterinary office that combines expertise, compassion, and fairness, Scripps Ranch Veterinary Hospital is that rare place. I will always be grateful to them for the care and love they've shown Sassy--and me.

I took my dog here 11 years ago now for spay surgery. While recovery went well and no complications at the time occured I discovered 10 years later after she had an additional abdominal surgery for a tumor on her liver by another vet that surgical gauze had been left from a previous surgery- the only previous surgery she's ever had was her spay. Because of the left foreign matter in her abdomen her body -luckily- encapsuled the gauze which then adheared to multiple organs. To the extent that when we removed it during her recent liver tumor surgery a portion of her intestions and pancreas needed to be removed as well and everything sent for biopsy. While I'm thankful this is the "worst" that happened because of this negligence- the alternative was her going into sepsis and dying. So I guess pick your poison? When I contacted the office to report - essentially malpractice- initially I was left to feel ignored. My information was taken and I was told the owner of the practice (same owner as when the initial surgery was completed) would phone me back. After a couple follow up calls the office manager (not vet owner as requested) called me back to get my info and story. I eventually was put in contact with the owner Dr Dio. He listened and apologized and then informed me that vet was no longer there. But not why. Nor would he provide their license number so I could report this to the vet board. Ultimately after explaining the situation and asking for reimbursement of the additional 1600$ spent on the additional surgery and biopsy because the mass was unknown. He offered me free vet treatment at his office. (Y'all almost killed my dog? Why would I go back there for treatment??) When I expressed that wasn't satisfactory he then offered a refund for the initial surgery...$300. I again expressed this isn't what I good enough for the problem that occured. He left the phone call that he would discuss with his office manager and get back to me- surprise surprise- they never contacted me again. Once again- this is not a review on the current Dr pearson- I've worked with her at other vet offices in the past and she's wonderful. But this is reflection on how the owner Dr Dio handles situations that occur with vets under his practice.

I brought my dog in for an ear infection and somehow ended up paying almost $1,000 after they ran a bunch of tests. In the end, I walked out with a small bottle of medicine. The doctor even told me the problem could keep coming back, so I would probably have to come back again for more medicine. A few weeks later, I came back because the medicine was finished and my dog needed another prescription. That's when things got really bad. They took my dog to the back without me, which I found extremely strange and was not comfortable with at all. I wanted to be there with my own dog, but they took him away from me anyway. Then they started pushing more tests and more charges. I told them I did not want all these extra tests, but they kept trying to convince me. It felt like they were looking for every possible way to charge me more money. The staff was extremely rude and disrespectful. I did not feel listened to, respected, or like they actually cared about helping my dog. I felt like all they saw was a way to make more money. I already spent almost $1,000 the first time, and instead of simply helping with the same problem they already diagnosed, they immediately wanted to do more tests and charge me again. This place feels like a complete money grab. I would never trust them with my dog again, and I would never recommend them to anyone. I am taking this seriously and plan to report my experience to the California Veterinary Medical Board and BBB to make sure other pet owners know exactly what happened to me so they don't go through the same and do not get fooled by these money hungry profiteers.
