We have been bringing our dog Markay's Castle for almost ten years, and we have been delighted with…read morethe care our dog has received here on every occasion. Our dog is a rescue who had a lot of issues when we first adopted her, and a neighbor in our condo in Chicago recommended that we send her here for training, because she was very happy with the training her dog had received here. Kathy and Perry owned Markay back then, and we were so pleased with their work that we continued to send our dog there every time we needed to board her. My confidence in their professionalism grew over the years, so we were concerned when we heard that Perry and Kathy were selling their business, but we need not have worried. David and Joanna bought the business without an interruption in service, and the transition was seamless for us. They give our dog the same loving care, and she has come back to us safe, happy, and healthy every time. They pick her up and return her punctually, and comply with our requests assuringly. We have gone there to meet the staff on occasion, and have always left feeling confident that they hire assistant caregivers for the dogs very carefully, because the entire team has always seemed highly competent, kind, and conscientious. I can't say enough what a relief it is to be able to leave our cherished pet in such caring and scrupulous hands.

The training has stuck, and everyone in our house is now happier! Every time we leave town we also use the castle for boarding, I have personally taken a tour of the facility.......cleaner than my own house.....and I am a clean person. They also do pick up/drop off service in Chicago! Makes the responsibility of owning a dog easier on everyone...dog included!

They allowed some of our friends to visit the dogs while we were away. Our dogs stayed in the same pen. For two dogs in one pen it is $29 per day. If you do an extended stay they will give you a discount. The facility is clean and the staff is always friendly. They also provide grooming. It runs around $70 per dog. This includes bath, cut, and their nails trimmed. When our dogs get groomed they always look great. You must make sure that your dog(s) have their vaccinations. (Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella (Kennel Cough). You can have your vet call them with the information or bring in copies of your dogs' vaccine papers. Also I would recommend making sure to do flea/tick treatments to your dog(s) before boarding. You can also request for your dog(s) not to be fed the day you pick them up. Sometimes our dogs will get sick in the car if they have eaten anything. They have specific pick up and drop off times. Generally, the hours are from 8 AM-10 AM and 5 pm-6 pm. They are very clear that on your last day of your dog(s) stay that they are picked up at/before 10 am. If you do not pick up your dog (s) by 10 am on the "dismissal day" you will be charged for the entire day. They provide water bowls and food bowls. Bring your own dog's toys, blanket, treats, food. Your dog will be taken out a lot. They will let the dog(s) run around in a fenced in area. They have a good routine down during her visits, and I really love that she will send a couple pics and a text update of the visit when she's done. Highly recommend, and I'm pretty picky!
