    Oak Top Hill Horse Farm

    Oak Top Hill Horse Farm

I had my horse at this facility for less than a year. The owner makes a good first impression but…read morethings went down hill fast. I explained to the owner that my horse was recovering from Laminitis, a painful condition which attacks the hooves, and could not be let out to graze freely on grass. He also needs special supplements to build up his hooves and circulatory system. In our first conversation the owner admitted she had limited knowledge of horses and her only "training" had been in following the previous owner around for a week. These seemed like red flags but I was desperate to get him out of an unsafe situation. He was put in a dry lot with some smaller horses. The understanding was that he would be fed hay twice daily plus his supplements. When the weather was good, things seemed ok. However, one day I came in and someone had cut my horse's mane in a clumsy and definitely unwanted manner. The owner knew who had done it but apparently she allowed this teenage girl free run of the facility and did not supervise her at all. When the weather was nice, I had agreed with the owner that my horse could stay outside at night. I continued to pay for his stall to make sure he would have shelter when the weather turned bad. We began having rainstorms and I assumed he was being put inside, since that was the agreement. Two boarders called me to ask if I wanted my horse outside in the storms. When I checked the next morning, my horse was outside in the "dry lot" standing in manure, urine, and mud up to his hocks, no shelter, sopping wet and some other horse in his stall. I confronted the owner who insisted she had "planned" to tell me she'd needed his stall for another horse and was going to charge me a cheaper rate. Which was not at all the agreement. I told her I was concerned he could develop thrush, a bacterial infection of the hooves - she made no response. I also confronted her on my horse losing weight and she insisted she was feeding him twice daily. I showed her where I had marked the tubs the supplements came in. They were marked on the outside, dated, and the levels had not moved in a week. I asked her about his oats and she again insisted he was getting fed. The oats bag which had been sitting in a tub for a week had not even been cut open. Meanwhile, icy water was flowing into the barn and had stopped two feet short of my horse's stall. Shortly after being transported to another facility, my horse was diagnosed with thrush for which he is being treated.

I would not board your horse here. The owners only care about collecting board, what's promised is…read morenot delivered and they really could care less. It went from 2 feedings a day to 1 and hay dropped whenever they felt like it if the horses were out or not. The property is not maintained at all, the arena is so dusty you can't ride in it. They have an outdoor arena has so many rocks you can't ride in it. The place is just a mess. They now leave all the care up to the boarders but charge the same and there is no oversight at all. After a written warning I would need to leave if they were out of hay again for days in the winter and if they didn't have access to unfrozen water. The owner replied she understood. Within 2 weeks they were out again for days. I moved my horse and she will not return any of my messages or refund my half of board. More indication they do not care about this boarding facility. This is not the trusted, caring facility you want to keep your animal at.

These people are the new owners and do not measure up to Rose Miller's standards. Rose Miller being…read morethe previous owner sold to these people in 2013 . Do not board your horse here. These people starved our horses. They lost 200 pounds each. Not only do they put your horse in a dry lot and not feed it,owners horses are put out in the lush pasture. All the facebook photos are taken in this pasture,so don't let them fool you. She Threw the horses cattle hay when we complained they were not getting fed. We had to end up buying our own hay and keeping it in an empty stall. One of the other boarders had to feed our horses as, she wasn't making the effort. She would lie to you and claim she was feeding them. All the boarders ended up leaving. One of the horse had scaring injuries due to the barbed wire fencing. all the horses ,even ours were stretching over the barbed wire fence to eat. Our horses were even eating bark off the trees. We found our horse stuck in a barbed wire fence when we arrived to feed them. This place was a disaster on our horses and we had to move them!! We move them in an emergency one morning The law came down on this place and it should have shut it down. These people are the worst people to put your horses lives in. They are "SHAMELESS"." This new acre farm does not care for your horse or you for the matter. There are no friendly people here as you will see after signing there contract .
