Took our Yorkie, who is a rescue there today for her 1st time along with a friends Maltese (who has been there before) and I should have known by the way the Maltese was acting, and was basically scraping the pavement and had to be dragged in ..something was wrong. Wanting to patronize the neighborhood black owned business I went ahead and dealt with the woman at the front desk who had horrible customer service, no rapport with the dogs, no questions or anything about my Yorkie, point at a poster and asked which cut I wanted. A guy came out from back and my dog was terrified to get in the cage and go for the 1st time and they just said stick her in there. No comforting the dog at all. I asked for the works including extra fee because some of her fur had some matts in it due to not having been bathed since she was spayed a few weeks prior. We asked for low shaved body/legs and trim around her head. When we picked her up she was basically bald, long hair left on her sides, her legs(which had not been combed thru) no hair on tail. Untrimmed hair on her head with tangles under her chin! And fleas! This was the $65 works! The dog came back a wreck. When I picked her up, the lady barely says hello. Nothing about the experience. Soon as the man opened cage dog jumped so fast onto me I didn't get a chance to really look until we left. I look to support black owned local businesses, but it's also important to have great friendly service. Im gonna have to say that I would not recommend you take your dog there if you want your dog to have a good experience. read more

Like some others, I rescued a dog (Golden Dox) a few months after my beloved Lab transitioned. This was the second groomer that I tried, even though I liked the first one on Western (close to the animal shelter) parking is very bad in that area, and I didn't feel safe parking around the corner and walking back to Western...to many stray Pit Bulls wandering in the area. Even though my son told me about a place in Culver City, it seemed that parking was going to be an issue there as well, so I remember passing Dog Lovers on Crenshaw and decided to give them a try. Parking was great! The place smelled clean and the woman in the front was very courteous and made me and my dog feel welcome. Because "my baby" is part Golden Retriever, he has curly hair...but when I picked him up, all the "curl" was gone. I wasn't expecting such a drastic change, to be honest, it took me a few minutes to recognize him... It's a good thing he recognized me - LOL. Although the cut cost more than I thought it would, I am satisfied. When I asked the woman at the counter about an area on my dog where he was scratching, she gave me some green gel to put on the "hot spot". It cleared up pretty quickly. I can't remember the cost including the tip..so I won't quote a price, but even though pricier than what I'd paid in the past - I will be a returning customer. When I took my dog - which is a Shih Tzu to have a haircut as usual for the past few years, I was very disappointed. When my mother of 94 years of age picked her up - yes she still drives our pet GG look like someone hacked her up. The person who normally cuts her hair a beautiful over worked African American women with great patience with GG was absent that day, they were understaffed and had Simone new do it. My mother lives in View Park and Dog Lovers has been convenient and in driving distance. So I usually take her dog there but I was leaving town so I had no time to inform the owner about the injustice done to GG. I called from my new residence this morning to reschedule an appointment for my dog and spoke with the owner - she was rude insensitive hard core and refused my mother's dog , she took no responsibility and accused GG of being unfriendly and said she thought GG was going to in danger her staff. She refused our services and told me to take our dog somewhere else!! Wow! Who could treat a senior citizen that way!! If it wasn't for people living in View Park a serrounded neighborhoods she wouldn't even be so successful!! Her proudly manner of stating how she's the owner was insulting. I asked her if we could start over with our conversation? She repeated how she wanted me to end this conversation and didn't want to hear anything I had to say and she would call the police if I didn't hang up!!! Stop taKing your animals there!! I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I'd been here before but this last time was it. I brought my dog Charles here for a bath and hair cut and received so much more, and not in a good way. Upon bringing him in I was not greeted at all. A very rude woman behind the counter was very cold and criticizing. When she asked me what length I wanted my dogs haircut she pointed to two numbers. I suggested the longer length which she proceeded to say " it's obvious that you guys don't brush his hair at all so I'd suggest shorter". Aside from her blatant rudeness I realize that this was an elder and I decided not to go into it. I left my dog and went home. Before leaving I asked the woman what time he will be ready she wrote on my paper 12 PM and then told me 1 PM when I asked her confused what time should I come she said it "around that time". I left with a bad feeling. After a couple hours around 1245 I caught the location to which a rude man answered. When I asked him about my dog he rudely answered "I don't know which dog you have" before letting me tell him. When I arrived back at the location they took a minute to go get my dog when they brought him out the rude man charged me $50. When the woman reappeared with Charles, she had mentioned that Charles was cut on his elbow because he wouldn't stop moving she then gave me a gel to put on the wound and gave me a five dollar coupon after letting me pay the full amount. Not thinking to check the cut before I left the location I drove home. When I did arrive home I realized that this was no cut, it was a very deep wound. If they knew that they had cut my dog so deeply why would they not tell me that information before letting me pay?! They didn't try to fix it , the just sent me off with a five dollar coupon. On top of my babies deep won't he also came back home with a bad case of fleas. I hadn't noticed until my cousin who also takes her dog to this location said that they gave her dog back to her in the same condition. I will never in a million years take him back. Be very careful! i brought my puppy in for bath and trim and when I got him home, I saw multiple cuts and burns. (On his head, chest, leg, butt and even a nick on a nipple) it looks as if a new groomer worked on him or a rush job was done. So I went in to show management, I was told that my dog did this to himself! Really?!? There is NO way that he could scratch his chest! And the wound on his head?? Looks like a clipper burn to me. Accidents happen, i know this. but instead of management acknowledging an accident and moving forward, I was given a cream and a gel in little containers and told to apply it 2 times a day. I had been reading the reviews on this place and it's sad that the owner isn't caring enough about it's reputation to correct the treatment of the animals or the owners of the animals. I'm reviewing because when I last used them for grooming, it was ok and my dog wasn't traumatized, but actually I called them recently to inquire about obedience training. 20 years ago, they were nicer, professional and I brought my puppy in to having on-campus training. I thought their prices were fair, and I wanted to keep my dollars in the community. Turns out that the woman who answered the phone would only tell they do not have training at this time, but couldn't tell me if they've discontinued the training there or when it resume, if ever. I took my dog there because I was here from out of town looking for a place to live. LOVED IT!!!! Once I moved here I took her back the second time.. OMG she had red areas on the top of her head, when I walked in all I heard was my dog crying and when they brought her out she must have urinated on herself in the kennel they had her placed in. I felt sooooo sorry for my baby. When I got home I noticed that they didnt even brush her teeth and I swear that was apart of "THE WORKS". Well I said I would NEVER take her back there but she needed a cut ASAP and I called to talk to them and the guy that answered the phone was so DAMN rude I was so glad he told me they were booked because the way he was talking to me made me change my mind about even considering this place ever again. There was no apology or anything just "Welp we're booked" poor customer service!! Now I have to find a new Grooming Place for my dog. I would like to say that I had the same wonderful experience with Dog Lovers that the other reviews did, I can not! I took my 10 week old Cocker Spaniel (China) for a full service grooming and it was a horrible experience for my puppy as well as myself. I thought it may have been too early because the young lady who greeted me was not kind nor was she friendly, later that afternoon my daughter went to pick up China and she received the same cold greeting. My daughter told the staff that she was coming to get China, the groomer who was stationed at the front referred to China as the cry baby and another groomer came out with China. I took my little dog in today for "the works" - bath, nails, etc. We arrived around 9:30, and waited about 5 minutes in line. The lady that signed her in was warm but very efficient. I filled out the information and she made sure that the tag matched my info. I got a phone call that my dog was ready; when she was brought out she had a little decorative collar. It was very cute. The lady even gave me hints on how to get the harness on a very wiggly dog. I am quite pleased with the experience. We used to have a bigger dog, and also brought him in for grooming. Honestly, I used to take my mini-schnauzer there regularly a couple of years ago until they began to overcharge me stating that they had been undercharging me. The prices are clearly posted and she is a small dog. They charged me the larger dog prices. The owners are not customer friendly (especially the husband). They feel as though the customers are the lucky ones to be receiving their services. The last straw was when they kept my dog's pricey collar and leash, could not find it and never offered to replace it :{ The husband talked very nasty to me. I was shocked and politely told him that I would just go back to my groomers in Culver City on Washington Blvd. He became submissive and asked me not to leave (it's all about the money to them). Cons: Rude, Bad Cuts, Unprofessional, Not customer friendly, Staff turn-over Pros: Open on Sat morn for walk-ins I tried them a couple of weeks ago because they were close by and I did not have an appt. Disappointed again ... the cut was really bad :( I think they have new people there again (awful). This is also a grooming school. Service is terrible. Took my baby here to get her monthly grooming. The man in the front is extremely rude. I am big on supporting small businesses in the urban community so I looked passed it and continued to give them a second chance. First her haircut was extremely uneven. Second this is the second time I have taken her there for the works and a flea dip and she has come home extremely bitten up by fleas. Will no longer be giving them my business. As an FYI the Petco on Sepulveda and Jefferson is great. My baby loves the staff and I am so happy and comfortable leaving her there. The extra money and longer drive are well worth it. read more

This Place is Horrible, I tried giving my people a chance by bringing my poodle mix on a couple occasions, Now when entering the business by the bell ringing at the door you would think the person behind the counter would say I will be right with you or even come out from the back when its the first thing in the morning. But No. The people are very rude and when explaining what you want done specifically with your dog I always get her back different than what I asked and paid for. I explained once that they made a mistake but the second time it was on me, They are not professional its almost as if they do not like what they do and if that is the case I can only imagine what they are doing to dogs here. She told me to go somewhere and print it out and she will aknowledge the discount...Really? Also......I love when i have a fresh smelling clean pup but my kid smelled the same as she did when i dropped her off! I do not recommend this place. Took my Yorkie Oliver to Dog Lovers today! Great job, Oliver is not the easiest dog to groom he can be jumpy but he seemed to have had a good experience. The prices are GREAT $43 for the works that includes a cut of your choice Petco and Petsmart does not include that! I also got a $5 off coupon which made it $38. The works includes nails, cut of choice, teeth, flea bath and a few other things (the yucky stuff lol) all standard! Another great thing is we wanted to cut Oliver's hair shorter and it wasn't as short as we wanted but it was close to closing time. They cut it more while I was there I also asked if I wanted it shorter than that is there a charge they said I can bring him back free of charge if we wanted it shorter. read more

My elderly indoor cat somehow got fleas, which infested our whole house. While we treated the house,I put the cat outside, planning to treat her the following weekend. After a few days of being outside, my cat was not herself - skinny, not much energy,etc. I thought I might have to euthanize her. I found Dog Lovers via online search. They said they could do a flea bath if I brought the cat in before noon. When I got there late at 1:30 they told me I'd need to come back the following day. I asked them about the euthenasia issue and started to cry. I think they felt sorry for me and agreed to do the flea bath. They also gave me some tips for getting rid of the fleas. The flea bath was done in an hour and my cat was happy and like a new woman. I found the staff to be professional and compassionate. I'd come here again. read more

Read all the negative reviews and be warned. Your dog is a member of your family. The owners are "Rude, uncaring and non-apologetic when they screw up. They not only severely cut my dog, but they did not tell me they dig this hack job on her. When I came back with pictures, she complained (co-owner) that I should have brought my dog and denied they did it. My dog Princess has been groomed by Dog Lovers since she was a puppy. She has aged quite a bit now and has large boils and tender areas on her body. After all these years, she is treated with tender loving care the same way she was treated when she was a puppy. I consider this an example of the groomer getting to know your dog as they age and know how to treat them. I will continue to have Princess groomed by them as long as she lives because they have shown me that they really appreciates my business. read more

BEWARE!!! BEWARE!!! If you love your dog do NOT use this groomer. I took my dog here for grooming and specifically asked that my dog NOT be shaved. They shaved my dog and gave him a "santi- cut" - which I also had not requested. This "santi-cut" involved shaving my dogs underbelly. After I got my dog home, I noticed that he was resisting my attempts to pick him up and that's when I examined him and saw his underbelly. They had CUT my dog in several places!!! I returned with my dog and voiced my complaints to the owner. She looked at the cuts and tried to convince me that the cuts were from my dog scratching after having been shaved. I pointed out that the marks on my dogs underbelly were clearly cuts not scratches. Moreover, I had specified that he not be shaved. She offered no apology for the shaving and the cuts that were staring her in the face. When it was clear that I wasn't going to be convinced that this was a natural consequence of grooming, she offered me a discount on a future grooming. Huh?!! As if I would ever take my dog back to these butchers!!! As an aside, I couldn't help but notice that the woman who groomed my dog exited the reception area when she saw me return and watched from behind a partially opened door as I spoke with the owner. Guilt was written all over her face. I can only imagine how she handled my dog during the "grooming" process. I took my dog to a vet right after I left Dog Lovers and the nurse confirmed that the cuts appeared to have been caused by a razor. No surprise. Dog Lovers? I beg to differ. read more
