Being a burger joint, we obviously ordered everything but the burgers lol. We had a long trip ahead and didn't wanna feel too greasy but looking over at other tables later, the burgers looked delicious. I got the peach salad that came with curried pumpkin seeds and shredded asiago and croutons. I added grilled chicken for $4. I wished there were some fresh peaches on it but the salad was tossed in a peach dressing instead. The croutons also tasted like fried pieces of sandwich bread. I will say, I was so pleasantly surprised by how delicious this salad was! Holy cow, after a few days of camping, having vegetables was one thing, having this salad changed my outlook on life. My fiancé was a little saddened by the fact that we will be no where near this place (from Connecticut) becuase he thoroughly enjoyed his brisket wrap. Maybe it's the Mid Western charm and hospitality, but our experience was so great. After getting the bill, our waiter (who had two colored socks on and my friend thought he only had one, but alas, one sock was just black while the other was a hot pink) offered us our drinks to go and brought us back a full cup of iced tea and Dr Pepper. Our table of four left with a $70 bill which was fantastic, given that the food also satiated us to the best degree. All the way from CT, I wanna say: thank you Michigan. And thank you to the Gnarly Heifer, even though we did not taste your Heif.

The waiter did a nice job with a table near us who were concerned about allergies and needed some special accommodations. Mushrooms burgers were loaded!! Overall a nice friendly experience

First of all, I'm not usually one to review food from my own hometown. Much like a sweet food made…read morefrom fruit and sugar boiled to thick constancy that doesn't belong to me, it's not my jam. But I'm beginning to think it's one thing to review a local eatery that isn't your typical franchise owned restaurant just might not be a bad idea. I saw this place open up late summer and logged it away in the Restaurants I Want to Try (But Will Probably Forget About) folder. Well guess what. I remembered. The real reason is partly because I was introduced to a real Chicago dog while on a food trip in the Windy City. So now was my opportunity to try a Chicago dog from somewhere NOT Chicago. Also, I saw they served Italian beefs. Or is it beeves? And we all know I'm an 18th century street walker for some Italian beeves. Its location is pretty spot on for a place like this. Lakeside, is what it's called. The area. Not the restaurant. Pay attention. Inside is spacious and clean. Plenty of booths (boofs? Booves?) for hotdog consumption. It's an order at the counter type of place. Classic restaurant. I ordered a Chi Dog with a side of chili cheese fries. Did you see the photos of that dog? It tastes exactly like it looked. Like magic. Dog, tomato slice, pickle spear, sports peppers, relish, mustard. I grew WAY up since just ketchup. But I still haven't grown out of eating cold hotdogs. Nothing beats a midnight snack of a cold dog. Anyways. This thing is a beast. Not for the faint of heart or tiny of mouth. This is one of those dogs that once you start eating, you can't put it down because it's just so messy. In a beautiful way. True story coming up, my first bite launched my pickle spear out the tail end of my dog. I might lie about a lot of things, but never the evacuation of a pickle from a hotdog. If you like Chicago or hotdogs or food or things in general, get this dog. My side order of chili cheese fries looked like something out of an art gallery. They used crinkle cut fries, which are god tier fries. They also loaded it up with chili, which I feel everybody else usually lacks what the "proper" amount of chili is. But I will sadly have to dock a point or two for Chili Flavor. It seemed to lack a little bit of...something. It tasted better than plain ground beef, but something a little under chili. It wasn't bad at all. It's meat and cheese on fries. They were more Chili Adjacent Cheese Fries. It was portioned correctly. It just was very bland compared to what else you can get in Grand Rapids. The chili cheese fries also were not horrible but I wanna say they were great. It is just gas station cheese and chili from a can. Again, not horrible just nothing special. Overall, I probably wouldn't recommend this place but I also want to steer someone away either especially if you are drunk and at the bar across the street. I'm sure it tastes much better. That being said, I think it's a perfect restaurant for its location. There is not a ton of competition directly next-door or across the street. And technically, the Bar across the street has food of a similar quality however it is a nice alternative It's up to you. There's much better places in town for hotdog however, I would give the spot another shot to try the Italian beef. I have heard it is not excellent, but I have not had it Personally.

Eureka!!! At last, perfect Chicago dog without the airport…read more One of my rituals when traveling through Chicago O'Hare airport was to always stop and get a hotdog a Chicago hotdog because you could only get them in Chicago or so I thought. we are living on a boat now and I was at West Marine. New area. Home Depot right next door. Right next to Home Depot Chicago hot dogs. Perfect. So I called Peggy to see if she had eaten lunch she hadn't I said how's the Chicago hot dog sound here She said OK. Keep in mind she's not a big fan of eating hotdogs. Must be something to do with being this South Dakota farm girl. So anyway I go in the car is loaded with groceries the last thing I should be doing I was stopping but I it's a Chicago style hotdog right down to the bun. I'm glancing over the menu and there's a lot of other options one of them was the onion rings but I was crunched on time so I didn't order any. Somebody else smarter than me did order the onion rings because I saw them come up later my God they looked awesome! Next time. So I get home with my bag of four hotdogs Peggy never eats two so I was just getting a spare to throw in the refrigerator for later. Again, I'll say this Peggy never eats two hotdogs never never never. Until today. She ate my spare hotdog. I was heartbroken I should've bought five. If you haven't figured this out by now let me spell it out to you if you're looking for a diner they have hamburgers and other stuff too but this place is worthy of checking out and the great thing is, it's a mile and a half from our boat not even as a crow flies. I still can't believe it as I'm wrapping this up Chicago dogs just a Stones Throw. Life is looking pretty good.

When we pulled into the parking lot some of us were hesitant based on the outside, however, I thought the outside was awesome! The murals are quirky and fun - my kid's loved the Yeti! The inside doesn't look big, but it fits a good amount of people - and they have a large bar, as well. It was fairly empty when we arrived at 1230, but by the time we left after 2pm it was busy! Lions were playing, too :) We had 10 of us and they quickly put tables together for us and were very accommodating. Jennifer was our server and she was AWESOME and handled our large group easily and with a sunny disposition. The menu is large, but not intimidating.. but makes for hard choices! They have some unique items on their menu that sounded SO good - like the peanut butter burger and walleye Ruben! Lots of apps, salads, daily soup, burgers, sandwiches, mains, and pizzas! Their kid's menu is large, as well with great side options instead of just fries. Our group started with the pizza rolls and the garlic bread balls - huge hits! Especially with the kids! Two people got the walleye Ruben and said it was great! One got the pot-roast meal and loved it. I had the smoked wings and thought they were awesome - especially the sauces - you can tell they are homemade! kids had pizza, mac n cheese, buttered noodles, chicken tenders, pulled pork, and probably some other items i am forgetting but the kids loved their food! We definitely had leftovers because portions are generous! We tried a porter they had on tap and 3 of us really enjoyed it - they have a nice rotating tap selection! All in all we enjoyed our meal and would recommend Oh Brother's for sure! We'll be back our next time in the area.
