When i go to the dog shack I ca smell th holy aroma of fried food waiting to come into my mouth and into the stomach. All the times that I ate there it was like eating at the Krusty Krab from spongebob. The cheassy fries smack with that cheese and the fries taste crisp and fresh. Also the fried clams were really good too with the tarter sauce. But can't forget the reason this shack got its name, the grail event of them all, the hot dogs. Those dogs make my mouth turn into the Hudson river when ever talk about it, smell it, and/or touch it. When my family goes to order there, we usaly get the hot dogs with the works. And man that works. The chilli, the onions and the mustard are such a good combination with the hot dogs. And lets not forget those toaste buns too. I'm amused (and vaguely traumatized) by the complaints about the prices going up here--my goodness, could the food be any cheaper without putting these nice people out of business? (We live near a place in Brooklyn where the hot dogs taste half as good and cost $5 apiece!) After finding the competition down the road closed, we used our nifty Yelp app to navigate our way to this place, and are so glad we found it. The folks behind the counter were super-friendly, the dogs rocked (we went "old-school" with sauerkraut and mustard instead of the more "advanced" options like chili dogs, etc.), and the onion rings were the best I've had. The buns were lightly toasted--and sublime. Old standby for quick service. Hot dogs! Can't be beat for price and the service is always good (and often entertaining).

I would love to be able to give this place 5 stars, but I'll explain why I don't below. Overall, this is a great little place to get some dogs and fries. Currently, three dogs will set you back $1.89, and you can get curly fries and a 20oz soda with it for about $5.50 total. One of the perks of this place is that they grill the buns. This adds a while me dimension to the dogs, and sets them above the rest. My one complaint is the quality of the hot dogs used. They're kinda cheapy. This could be countered by slicing the dogs lengthwise and grilling them also, but as is, I can't recommend the hot dog itself. If you don't like buns and only want the dog, skip it. Other than that, the fries are great, the prices right, and it's an overall great place to get a bite. read more

I used to come here all the time with my uncle when I was a kid. It was around 8:30 and my boyfriend and I were trying to decide where to eat but everything in Saratoga was closed so I suggested the dog shack. We checked the website and it said that they closed at 10:30. So we drove, 35 minutes to the dog shack only to get there and have the lady tell us that they were closed just after 9:00. I said "oh the website said you closed at 10:30." And instead of saying something like "oh I'm sorry the website is wrong." Or "we actually just changed our closing time" or literally anything else she flat out said "I don't care what the website says. We're closed." If she had been nicer about it I would have understood but she was so unbelievably rude to use and the other woman who was standing in the lobby with us. I will likely not be returning there because she was so rude to us. read more

Not sure why this place has a 4.5 star review total but totally not impressed. You can get 5 full sized hot dogs and 2 drinks for $10 but you get what you pay for which is the budget dogs. The toasted roll is a nice touch but even that is tasteless. If you're looking for a few hot dogs to split amongst friends, you can't go wrong with the Dog Shack's 3 hot dogs for $1.79 special (the price went up a little bit) This is a small establishment with limited parking. Their main specialty is the hot dog, with some complimentary toppings such as ketchup or mustard. Some toppings do cost a little extra, but the price is certainly reasonable. While I wasn't a huge fan of the taste of their hot dogs, I certainly won't discourage others from going here, especially when the Dog Shack offers excellent value (and was the deciding factor to give 4 stars instead of 3). read more

They've also got great cheese fries and other side dishes. It's a small (literally and figuratively) local business and they're usually busy, so be prepared to wait a few minutes, but you're still in and out in 10-15 minutes, which is pretty quick in my opinion. The only reason I have it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I've been there a few times when the employees let their personal problems get in the way way of business, and they argue loudly in front of customers. One time a old woman working went as far as to try to ask me my opinion on an argument that I had no idea about! Only 2 stars because SOME of the food is good. Service sucks and the help is miserable. 2 weeks they've been out of chicken tenders and I've tried to order chicken sandwiches. Today a woman cooking offers to do chicken nuggets on the sandwich because there were no tenders I said sure sounds good meanwhile the cashier and the other woman cooking are spazzing out on this other cook yelling "how are you going to put all the nuggets on the roll and what do I charge now" and it went on.
