First, their dogs while not full size are more substantial than others, giving you a satisfying satiety after you've downed just a few of them. Second, there's something extra in the sausage, a flavor complexity in addition to the usual juicy meaty satisfaction. Third, the meat sauce also has an extra twist thanks to cinnamon or another warm spice. I fed myself two dirty dogs (which have mustard, onions and meat sauce) at $1.80 each and an order of cole slaw for $3.00. I like to try cole slaw if it's on the menu and rate it on the size of the portion (often minuscule and a poor value for money) and the dressing. New Way scores with a generous portion which was garnished with a lettuce leaf and a tomato slice, but the slaw itself was not prepared in-house but rather out of a prepackaged tub. The location is very convenient, right off the main drag in downtown GF. You have your choice of counter seating, 50s style booths, a takeout window or (in good weather) a covered patio outside. They do have other food like Burgers. The service is great very friendly. The service is pretty quick even though it was busy today. Saturdays, I would say it was there busy days. A local gem! New Way is a no frills, retro-feeling place that was great for lunch. There are some booths or you can eat at the counter. My mom got hot dogs and I got the Philly cheese sandwich with chicken. My sandwich was a bit bland but with a bit of Mayo and a dash of hot sauce- delicious! Not sure why it took me so long but I recently ate lunch with awesome friends at "New Way Lunch" in Glensfalls NY. It's only 10 minutes from Lake George, NY and it was a step back in time and an absolutely delicious lunch. A simple menu of their famous hotdogs, sandwiches and desserts . New Way Lunch hot dogs are great in bread Walking up to a takeout window and ordering a late night snack hot dog with "the works" never crossed my mind when stepping out for a Friday night on the town in Glens Falls, but doggone it, I'm glad to have discovered a hot dog joint that gives new meaning to the phrase, "sun's out, buns out," because I went at night, and the buns were most definitely still out in all their glory. I grew up on hot dogs from Broadway Lunch, Newest Lunch, and Mike's in Schenectady, and have snacked my way through the Troy and Waterveilet hot dog scene, so I know a thing or two about Capital Region first prize frank tradition, but New Way Lunch blew me away and definitely stacks up against the other local legendary joints. A savvy couple I was with insisted on ordering four New Way Lunch dogs, and I'm glad they did. "World Famous since 1919," and served with mustard, diced onions and of course, their special meat sauce ($1.80/each), these guys are affectionately referred to as "dirt dogs" by locals and those in the know (now us, holla), but don't be fooled by the nickname; they're incredibly delicious, and I consider myself lucky to have had one all to myself. Now, I'm not sure if I'd recommend a pitstop here en route to a Tinder date, but I was out with friends, so more than okay with having onion breath for the rest of the night. It seemed the special meat sauce had a hint of something sweet; perhaps cinnamon or brown sugar? Whatever it was, it complemented the other secret sauce ingredients, raw onions and tangy mustard perfectly, so bravo for a recipe that transports the eater to another level of yum. Fun fact: There's a National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, a part of the American Meat Institute, and they have an official etiquette guide for hot dog-eating. (Who knew?!) Part of said etiquette takes a cue from the Tootsie Roll Pop owl, stating that you should take no more than five bites to finish your frank (although seven is acceptable for foot-longs). This also means eating every part of the hot dog, including any leftover parts of the bun. I can't say for sure how many bites it took me, but challenge accepted: I'm willing to return in the name of market research and hot dog eating etiquette. There's a great "Our Story" section on their website, beginning in 1916 when the original owner, John Floro, traveled from Greece to New York City to work a fruit stand in Brooklyn owned by his brothers. It took him three years to to eventually make it upstate to Glens Falls with his young family, and the shop has been open and continuously run as a family business since 1919! (Floro's grandson, Peter, runs New Way with his family today!) Bonus points for that; who doesn't appreciate a good American Dream story? So give this little place a visit if you're ever in the 'hood; there are two other North Country locations in Queensbury and Warrensburg, and while I haven't been, I hope to stop in for a dog or some breakfast one of the next times I'm adventuring in the ADK. And I really hope they have walk-up takeout windows, because *frankly* I think that was my favorite part of the entire experience! read more

New Way looks like your typical Upstate New York greasy spoon, but the food is what makes it amazing. The New Way hot dog, affectionately called a "dirt dog" by area residents, is a disgustingly good masterpiece composed of a special-blend Hatfield hot dog, onions, mustard, and a secret-recipe meat sauce similar to Cincinnati chili. New Way has been around for 100 years and there's a reason the locals keep coming back. Growing up in Glens Falls, we got takeout from New Way often. I am not from Glens Falls but was there on business. On my way to the car I decided I needed some food that wasn't from a rest stop on the highway home and New Ways sign claiming, "famous hot dogs" caught my eye. I was like, "challenge accepted sir". The outside of the shack reminded me of the movie "Up" where the old mans house stood defiantly amid a forest of modern buildings. When I entered it felt a little like walking into a Norman Rockwell painting. The clean interior had a retro fridge with soda in it. Some sodas in their classic glass bottles like Dr. Pepper and Pepsi stood along side their modern plastic counterparts within. There was a decent number of seat yourself booths and a line of stools with various pies and eclairs and other baked goods on display. The lady at the counter was very friendly. She politely informed me that there was a special 4oz burger and fries for around $6-$7 so I ordered that and of course a hotdog with the works. Apparently they are called, "dirty sticks" which is a local thing. I think the founder was named John back in 1919 and that this places actual nickname is, "Dirty John's" which, no judgments, as it clearly evokes local pride, but would not make me immediately think of a hot dog shack. I freshened up in the clean well maintained bathroom and then took my order to go. The hot dog didn't quite fill the bun, and the "dirty stick" nickname became apparent when I saw that the dog was covered in a brown sauce and sprinkled with onions. The dog itself didn't have too much flavor as most of the meaty slightly bitter mustard flavor with sweet slightly acidic tangs of onion crunch taste came from the sauce and mustard and bun. I guess the best way to put it is that the hot dog got out of the way of the sauce. It tasted nice. I can see why ordering a bunch to binge on would be appealing. I actually liked the burger more than I thought I would as it had a slightly charred flavor absent any burnt or charred meat. It wasn't overly greasy and the fries were a cut above average. Crispy and flavorful. This place is good at what it does. It is a hot dog burger joint that has stood the test of time. The only thing missing from it feeling like a slice of the fifties was they didn't appear to serve malts. My only real regret is that I didn't order any pie. Perhaps if I am in the area again I will try that and if it is also good, bump it a star. I recommend this place. I think that were I local and thus had years of nostalgia tied to this place, I would give it more stars but as I am not a local and as I haven't gone there multiple times, I'd say it is solidly above average and worth your patronage. From the outside, New Way looks like the biggest hot dog dive in the capital region. (Next to Gus' of Watervliet, of course. Nothing can touch a walk up hot dog joint). New Way serves up full size dogs cooked on the griddle, topped with meat sauce, onions and yellow mustard (lame, spicy brown will always remain dear to my heart). I ordered up two, with everything plus a side of onion rings. $1.30 for a hot dog is a steal. The dog itself had a decent snap, but felt rather slim in diameter. Portions seemed a bit off. A lot of bun, not enough meat sauce and hot dog. The onion rings were pretty damn good though. New Way's hot dog is solid, but nothing out of ordinary for the capital region.
