I doubt there is a molecule of beef in any of these "hot dogs", zero flavor and what struck me immediately is that they weighed about half as much as regular store bought packaged hotdogs. I've been eating at Dog Shack since I was a little kid. Fast forward to 23 years and I'm back in New York, and near my child hood dog spot. Honestly, its the same. And that's the key. Mozz sticks are dank, dogs are great, and curly fries are the gorillas pajamas. The melted cheese taste like garbage, but they lace it with crack, because I order it every time and eat until I'm full, then I eat more. Then I hate my life, and eat more. I have to admit that i have not been to the dog shack in years (i think it was still a buck for 3 dogs with the works) but i highly recommend getting the horse radish sauce. I used to drive by this this place and scrape up the change on the floor of my car just to get some. It is a must have, but get um to go there is no place to sit inside so move along. read more

METAL DOGS !!! and I don't mean headbangin' huskies either. I've successfully enjoyed way too many hot dogs from here, but one day (the last time), I went with my girlfriend. While eating in our car in front of the no parking sign, my usual spot there...She found a sharp metal shard, in the hot dog. It was about one inch long and somehow shaped into a spiral. It looked like you could open a small bottle of wine with this thing. She was grossed out by the cleanliness of this place anyway, so after finding the tongue shank in her food she did didn't eat any more of her dogs. I finished my hot dogs that day but I STRONGLY recommend as always, LOOK AT YOUR FOOD when it is prepared by others. EVERY BITE. Especially in Hudson Falls. Spend the extra money, go someplace else. Stewart's has cheap hot dogs with all of the extras that you can portion and then the hot dogs are probably just as clean as you are. This is a great hot dog place. Located just down the street from me, it has become a staple in this house hold. The prices have gone up over the years, but so has everything else. The only place I know that locally offers minced onion rings, just ask for them, they are my favorite! Always busy and very little parking so be prepared. read more

Ever since the days of 3-for-99 and hanging out with uncle louie at OTB you gotta love this joint. Order yourself 3 with the works and get some fries or fried mushrooms on the side. Don't dare look behind the counter b/c you'll get scared and lose your appetite; not too mention you'll smell like your clothes were used to mop the floor at KFC. Regardless, the Dog Shack is an institution and I applaud the efforts of the owners through all these years. Recession resistant and still pleasing to the palate. The dude gives his seal of approval. I live in Greenville, South Carolina now and have for the past 16 years. When I get back to Schuylerville to visit, I always make a trip to the Shack with my parents to enjoy those tasty dogs. Can't say one bad thing about the place or its food, when you live in a place that has nothing to compare the Shacks dogs to, you understand just how awesome they really are. We return to the Glens Falls area each year for six months. The Dog Shack is one of our first outings. The sauce is sweeter than New Way's, the roll is not steamed but grilled and what I really appreciate is the New England style roll. It is great to sit in your car (with the windows open if possible) and watch the parade of regulars, some in suits, others in overalls. The service is prompt and courteous and 80% of the shack is food prep area; standing room only for customers. If you like fried food, try some of their other offerings as the menu is larger than you would expect from such a small building-after all- they call it the Dog Shack for a reason! read more

I attended ACC from 89-91 and worked as a security guard down the street at GE. This was my regular stop and back then, the dogs were 3 for a buck. I recently took my son to the Great Escape lodge and had to get off an exit for him to use the "potty" and fate took my back here. I hadn't given this place a though in nearly 2o years and could not believe it was still there!. Still the same and was expecting the dogs to be at least 5 bucks. Amazing, just amazing. I love this place, my husband has been going there for years although I'm a recent convert. Just ask for the works (about 5 toppings they put on for free) on 3 hot dogs for like less than $3. I think it's amazing. Oh and if you want a side try the fried califlower with the cheese dip. Doesn't sound that appetizing but Oh My God. Not much standing room inside since it's always packed (a good sign in any resturant), and all the locals go here. I have gone here for years! It was always a treat to know we were going to the Dog Shack! Louie's signautre sauce on the dogs make it worth driving a half an hour to get there ;) the buns are nice too, i believe grilled? Like no other. Pairs good with the hotdog. And i don't know anywhere else that had fried cauliflower. Yum! The price for 3 dogs is afforable and cheap! Always get the same thing everytime too lol. 3 dogs with the works, cheese fries and a fried cauliflower. It's like a little hole in the wall and would love to see it get reviewed from Diners, Drive-ins and Dives!!
