I boarded my dog, Xena, here for 31 days and paid nearly $3,000. When I picked her up, I found a fresh wound on the side of her neck that was not there when I dropped her off. This is the second time my dog has come home injured after staying at this facility. I contacted the business immediately. They acknowledged my concerns and told me they would issue a refund, but since then they have stopped responding to my calls and messages. I still have not received the promised refund or any explanation for how my dog was injured. I trusted this facility to care for my dog while I was out of the country, and I am extremely disappointed with how this was handled. This place is like doggie heaven for my pups! My dogs loove this place!!! Both have been coming here for about a year and a half and they just can't get enough! As soon as I pull up to the place and they recognize the building their tails start wagging and they jump out of the car and run to the door, practically knocking me over half the time. All dogs are screened to make sure this place is the right fit for your dog and this is usually a one time full day evaluation where they slowly introduce your dog to other pups so they don't get freaked out. Make sure to have all your vaccines up to date and bring a copy of those records with you! My first dog Bella started coming here when she was about 5 months old and we had reviewed and visited other places around town and this was the only welcoming place that we were able to walk straight into and was given an immediate impromptu tour. The place is definitely not huge but big enough for my pups to play in and small enough that they're constantly under human supervision. They have a small outdoor area and a few rooms indoors as well as a sleepover area on the 2nd floor for boarded dogs. My 2nd dog started coming here after we rescued him and it definitely was a great place for him to socialize with other dogs as he was very shy and antisocial when we first got him. I'm so glad both pups really enjoy this place and I always feel better going to work knowing they're safe, happy, and tired out when we all come home at night. Although this place is definitely on the pricier side I would definitely recommend Dogs R Dogs. They're open 12 hours a day on the weekdays and you don't even need a reservation or to give notice of your dogs coming in. I love just popping in whenever I need to- this place has helped me out so many times in the past with last minute work shifts! To top it all off, the staff here is fantastic! They are super friendly, kind, and very accommodating. They always remember both of my dogs' name (even when we had not been there for 4 straight months when my dog had broken her leg and was on bedrest) and they all seem to genuinely love what they do (to the point that I actually wish I worked there). This place is awful. Forget being the highest priced in the area, they are. Forget the fact they false advertise pickup times, then charge you, they do. I can handle those things for convenience. I cannot handle carelessness for watching my animal. My dog came out of here with an actual wound and I immediately took her to the vet to treat, she was shaking. The owner keeps updating her response to make it look like our certified therapy dog (who has had extensive training) is the issue. They put our 28 pound goldendoodle with dogs that were not only twice but three times his size after we were told on the phone and during drop off that he will be with small dogs. This is a safety concern to say the least. Upon picking him up today we were shocked to find out that he was placed with the large dogs! Most dogs were three times his size! The woman didn't know why he was with the large dogs and couldn't provide a reasonable explanation and started saying that some dogs do better with larger dogs and she wasn't the one that put him there because she wasn't working the morning shift. Our usually happy and and social puppy was going from corner to corner and looked terrified. When we received him he was shaking and hours later still looks visibly upset and frightened. It breaks my heart. The woman working also said that he may be nervous because it was a new environment. We've boarded our puppy at other places that take better precautions on separating dogs by size and he always comes out tail wagging whether it was his first or fiftieth time. I was told he was in the room where dogs over 30 pounds stay and I told the woman he isn't over 30 pounds, to which she didn't have a response. We have not been contacting by Michelle asking how our dog is doing or to discuss what happened but she has updated her response more than once on yelp so from personal experience I don't feel like my dog is in good hands here. Also, we have found a great dog daycare in the heights which ironically ONLY take small dogs, of which Rambo (being a small dog) will be attending. The owner there was shocked and appalled to find out Rambo was placed with large dogs. read more

*UPDATE* When I went to go pick up my pups, the manager/owner(m/o) explained that the guy I wrote about in my post was actually their groomer, Todd. Todd is their night person who stays with the dogs -- hence they do have someone on site 24 hours a day. In explaining why Todd would say that he "wasn't an employee" and that he, "was called in 5 minutes before 7," the m/o said that Todd is mentally challenged and so he sometimes gets flustered and says things that he shouldn't say. The m/o also said that Todd was not good in social situations, which is why he comes off as rude. Todd is not trained as front desk staff, which is why he couldn't take the intake forms and in fact, he does not even use the computer (whether this is due to inability or lack of training on DrD's part, I don't know.). Okay, I can understand that -- I commend DrD for employing someone like Todd, since it can be difficult for people with his condition to find employment. I can appreciate the fact that the night person (Todd) is not good with people and that interacting with a customer flustered him, forcing him to present incorrect information from which I drew certain inferences. To their credit, DrD did refund my 10-day pass and did comp my last visit -- and like I said in my earlier review, other than this unpleasant business, my experience with DrD has been great, hence the 2 star rating, and not a 1 star. What I cannot understand is DrD asking and pressuring me to remove my initial review (5 times and counting) -- on grounds that it is slander. 1. IF it was defamatory, it would be libel, not slander. And nothing I posted in my review was false. Todd did say to me that he was not an employee and that he was called 5 minutes before 7 to come open the store. I don't jump to conclusions that someone is mentally challenged -- so when someone tells me a piece of information, as long as it's plausible, I will take it as truth. Why would this person lie to me? 2. I've contacted them 3 times about getting my pup's original copy medical records back -- and I still don't have them. The last time I spoke to someone (Ashley) she asked me twice to remove my review because "it was rough" -- and it almost seemed like she was holding the records in exchange for me taking down the review. I know, it's quite a jump, but here are the facts: I called/emailed to get the records back 3x, Ashley says that she will email them to me "right away" (that was 5+ hours ago), during that same phone conversation she asks me to take down the review twice, still have not received the records. 3. The m/o even asked one of the customers who had walked in during our conversation whether or not Todd "was weird." The m/o asked her how long she'd been coming here and if she thought Todd was weird. She (the customer) seemed really uncomfortable being put on the spot like that -- what kind of m/o does that? If you hire someone like Todd, then you need to take responsibility for his actions, not justify his behavior with a condition, then ask others to corroborate your statements. I'm not delusional -- I know that maybe if I'm lucky, 7 people will read this review -- and so my efforts to present the most honest, detailed review at the expense of making DrD unhappy is probably futile. But if I were a pet owner considering sending my babies to DrD, this is all information that I would like to know. They are very aggressive about maintaining a stellar rating and reputation. They have falsely (and mistakenly) accused me of slander. They have withheld original copies of my pup's medical records. They justify their staff's behavior by saying that he has "mental issues" (literally the language used by the m/o). To me, the fact that they have a top-notch facility doesn't excuse their bad behavior. No doubt they'll pressure me to take this update down as well, but I stand by my review. read more

Most people wrote reviews on Dogs R Dogs on behalf of their pet. I can appreciate that because most dogs aren't able to articulate things the way their owners can. I, on the other hand, requested that Duncan, my Chocolate Lab (120lbs), write up a review on his experience at Dogs R Dogs. The following is Duncan's review: I wasn't really expecting to go to a daycare at the age of 7. I mean, I practically take care of myself in my old age. So I don't know about anyone else, but I reviewed doggy daycare places like crazy when I moved to Houston. My puppy is my baby and I was so worried about him! This is the third doggy daycare place he has been to, and this is our last doggy daycare place that we will be going to. The first place's owners played very aggressively with my dog and he was aggressive back, and I did not want him to learn this behavior. The second place, which was recommended to me by a friend, and had webcams which I was super excited about. Turns out when I watched him on webcam, all the dogs just sat at the door and watched the staff members walk by all day. They barely played and I got super depressed watching it. So finally I was recommended dogs r dogs by another friend and realized we found a doggy daycare home. Yes, it is expensive. Yes, it is worth it. There are so many dog places in Houston, but honestly most of them have spotty reviews. Me and my fiance work totally different areas in Houston, and live in another, so we had quite a wide area to pick from. I just couldn't take him to some of the places because of the reviews. Dogs R Dogs is wonderful. And worth the price. The staff is super friendly to begin with and you can tell they love the dogs. When my puppy realizes he is here, he drags me inside, literally drags me. Then drags the workers until they take him to the play room. He starts wagging his butt as soon as he gets in he is so happy. He absolutely loves it. And the dogs here actually play, because I have seen them myself when I drop him off or pick him up :). It cracks me up when he gets in there and they take him off the leash and he goes charging to the playroom. When my puppy went to the other doggy daycares, he looked like he was going to the vet when I dropped him off. Seriously. He didn't get excited. Yes, they watched my dog and made sure he got outside. But did he have a great time and did it wear him out? No. Dogs r Dogs will wear your dog out and not make you feel guilty that sometimes you don't have as much time to play with your dog as you'd like to. From one dog owner to another, I wouldn't trust my baby anywhere else. Rest assured that your dog will have a great time here. Also, know the lot looks small but I have never had a problem getting in or out at different times during the day. And traffic is never so bad that you can't enter or exit the lot. Boo - we heard really positive things about this place, but they refuse to take my pure breed English bull terrier that wouldn't hurt a fly (you know, the Target-dog, Spuds MacKenzie or the 2008 Westminster Kennel Club Best in Show). I understand concern over some monster pitt bull or other fighting breed, but a 35 pound beautiful little sweetheart? In addition - no where on the website does it mention their policy of English bull terriers, or any other breeds, not being welcome? As a matter of fact - another Yelp review by James B., below, clearly states: "No breed restrictions". I am going to try and give the receptionist somewhat of the benefit, and hope she is just ignorant of the breeds, but even that would be uncalled for at a doggie overnight place! We'll, not only here on Yelp, but we are spreading the word about this poor customer service around the neighborhood with similar breeds (English Bulldogs, Mastiffs, Airedales, French Bulldogs, shepherds, etc.). I've always boarded my two pups at my veterinary clinic because I trusted they would take the best care of them. Unfortunately, their last stay was complicated by one of them getting a urinary tract infection. No one told me about it, but upon taking them home it was immediately evident. Every 5 minutes he would stop to try to urinate, nothing would come out, and he would yelp. It was a horrible experience and left me wondering exactly how much he was being taken out and how much water he was being given. I digress... Earlier this month I was leaving on a cruise and would need to board my dogs for at least 8 days. I had seen the Dogs R Dogs ad on television and had driven by the place a number of times, so on a last minute whim decided to check it out. I was so very impressed! The facility is clean and beautiful, and the workers are so wonderful and caring (especially Ashley!). They worked with my financial concerns and offered me a deal I could not resist. They took the BEST care of my pups and uploaded photos of them on facebook, which were so cute! I know they received the attention they deserved and it was a very reassuring experience. I will always board my pups here when I go out of town. I almost forgot, even when I was running late on the day to pick them up the gentleman I spoke with was so considerate and offered to stay late. 5* for Dogs R Dogs! read more

Whenever I get excited after a good service or disappointed after a bad one, I want to write a review. If I do not do it right away, I do not do it at all. Maybe it is the right time to start since I just moved to a new city and am already relying a lot on other people's reviews when looking for different services. That is how I ended up going to Dogs R Dogs for grooming. The place had the best ratings (4.5 starts) out of the closest grooming places to zip code 77006, and the prices on their website seamed relatively cheep comparing to what I experienced before (small dogs grooming and bathing starts at $25). When I called on Thursday (1/17) to schedule an appointment, they told me that the price for maltipoo is $45 and I did not have a problem with it. They were not able to schedule the appointment for Saturday (1/19) but they had available appointments for Friday and Monday but these days just did not work out for me so I scheduled for Friday, January 25. When I came there, the groomer opened the door and his first question was "What are we doing today?". I told him I have an appointment for grooming and bathing for my maltipoo Ari and he said something like he knows but how do I want his cut done. I showed him one of the pictures of Ari and said that I do not want his hair to be shorter than in that picture. Then he started talking about mats on Ari's legs which I did not brush out. He would get mats and I, as a nonprofessional groomer, was able to brush out. I wish I have done that with mats on his front legs too. He told me that he will not be able to brush it out and that Ari's front legs will have to be shaved, and that the rest of his hair is fine. What really bothered me is his attitude. I do not like when someone talks about me in third person when I am present. I was talking to him, and he would talk back to the girl at the reception, who was really pleasant by the way, like I am not there. I would tell him something, and he will turn to her and say "I do not know how she wants me to unmat his hair..." Hello, I am right here!!! Anyway, he might be the best groomer to anyone else but two of us definitely did not click. When the groomer left with Ari, the girl at the reception told me that he is really good and will try to demat dog's hair so that his haircut does look weird. The other thing is that I was told that Ari will be ready in an hour and a half, or two hours the most if the groomer needs to work longer to demat hair, and that they will call me when he gets ready. Three hours and 15 minutes later I called them to see how much longer it will take. They told me Ari will be ready in 15 minutes. When I came to pick him up, the third person brought me Ari. That was unusual for me because whenever are I took Ari for grooming in Virginia/DC area, the groomer would give me the dog back and tell me how he was and what was done. Ari's front legs were shaved of course so I do not understand why it took two hours longer then estimated. I do not appreciate when someone does not value my time. I might have other plans and expect that service will be done in estimated time. They also asked you about the tip, which is normal and I usually leave it even when I am not satisfied with the service. Ari's haircut was not bad (picture attached) but the groomer's attitude was to me. Even if he was the best groomer in the city, I am definitely not going back again. There is Gizzie's right next to Dogs R Dogs and they have great reviews too, so I might give them a try next time. I highly recommend Dogs R Dogs! The staff is amazing and the place very clean and super cute!!! My Maltese Ari Gold comes home from daycare completely exhausted from playing all day. He is well supervised and treated like part of their family!!! It's hard to describe just how cute this place is without stopping in to look around. The lofts where the dogs sleep have an open welcome feeling with a huge window and a lot of sunshine. There is a doggie ballroom and a doggie movie theater. The staff post pictures of the dogs on Facebook, it's so wonderful to see that my baby is healthy, safe and happy. They have Sunday pick up options and someone stays on-site overnight. We used to take our dogs here for weekly daycare and occasional boarding, but after becoming frustrated with the no Sunday pickup and difficult holiday hours (no drop off the day before Thanksgiving!) we decided to shop around. I started taking my dog Maggie here 3 1/2 years ago, and I can honestly say it is one of the best things I've ever done for her. My dog is shy and anxious, but you would never know when she's at Dogs r Dogs. It's been great for her to socialize and be taken care of while I'm at work or away. The staff members are incredibly caring and knowledgeable, and they take great care of all the pups. Maggie has never met a staff member she doesn't like! My husband and I have been taking our fur baby, Piper, to Dogs R Dogs for the past 6-7 months. Piper absolutely loves it and so do we! Piper gets so excited to go to daycare that she goes to sit by the door whenever I start putting items in my work bag (which she never does except for when I pack the one workbag - she knows she'll get to go to doggy daycare). The staff are always very friendly, and often show us pictures of our pup that they took throughout the day. We toured a lot of doggy daycares before visiting Dogs R Dogs, and immediately knew that they were the right one for us to trust our puppy with. They separate dogs by size, which is great for our smaller dogs safety. All the dogs were playing in the various rooms and were always supervised by at least one or more staffers. The outdoor patio is covered, and has a good amount of space for the dogs to run around. Also, Dogs R Dogs is very clean! Some of the places we toured had a lot of odor, but it was obvious to us that the staff prioritizes cleanliness. The "kid" and I absolutely love the staff at DrD. Temple is way more happy to see her friends and the employees during daycare days (she bolts out of the car and heads straight to the entrance)...so what does that say about this place?? It's grrrreat! 4 paws up! The staff know each dog's name, parents, and temperament. The humans really care about their furry customers. Plus, they're really good at stopping rough play, so that fights don't occur and so dogs don't bring home bad behavior (guilty for my pups being the annoying crazy one). At the end of the day, towards pick up time, the dogs are usually resting in the main room, tired from running around outside when weather permits. Water bowls are provided everywhere and there are plenty of bathroom breaks throughout the day, but Temple still drinks water and pees/poops when she gets home but that's because she's so distracted with her friends at doggy school. I think the prices are competitive for the area. DrD is worth the cost for many reasons: staff, attention to details and cleanliness!! I take my two very active dogs here about once a week. I have a Husky and a Lab that absolutely love going to Dogs R Dogs. Forest, Michelle, and their team are amazing!! They know every dog by name and who their humans are. They care for your pet as if they were their own family! They are always first to notify me if they see anything different with my pups and the follow up whenever they've been sick to see how they are coming along. Every staff member has your dog's best interest at heart and when I want to talk about my dog, I never feel anyone's rushing me to leave. Don't be turned away by the price; it's worth it and very few daycares offer drop off service. I took Captain there for doggy day care and my dog absolutely loved it. He knew when I put his car harness on, he was going to daycare. He was so excited. I think that spoke volumes about how he was treated at daycare. I met the staff, ones in particular Tina and Dominique, were awesome. They were very professional and informative. I completely trusted them taking care of my fur-baby. Captain is my first animal that I have owned as an adult and was apprehensive leaving my dog for the first time. I even called everyday to check on him. Quickly I realized captain was in great hands. I was very impressed by the cleanliness of the facility and the open layout, divided by glass rooms, being able to see where all the dogs are at all times .
