I took both of our dogs to Southside today for the first time and had such a great first time experience! I spoke with Brandi on the phone a few days ago to make a new appointment for my dog and new puppy and she was super helpful and kind. The front desk, vet techs (Jasmine was our vet tech for today) and Dr. Teboe are all friendly! Dr. Teboe was super informative, gentle with my dogs and did not rush during today's appointment. I will certainly continue taking my dogs here! Thank you for a wonderful first time experience :)

The expertise of the veterinarians and the administrative and clinical staff is outstanding. Their kindness to and empathy with the dear pets they care for is equally wonderful, and so deeply appreciated by us, and by the many others who entrust their little beloveds to the clinic. In particular, we want to thank several staff members personally for all of the care they have shown our two dogs. First, we are grateful to our friend Jasmin for introducing us to Southside Place and for always making our two dogs feel at home there! Thank you so much, Jas! We are equally grateful to the wonderful administrative staff, Brandi and Makala, who consistently help us navigate appointments, kennel reservations, billing, prescriptions, and much more for both of our pups whom they always welcome warmly (and hold when needed too!). We are also deeply grateful to the clinical staff who have taken superb care of the pups in every way! We're especially thankful for Cecilia and Heidi and the generosity of their care for Little Elvis, our 18-year-old Chihuahua whose health is very fragile. Thanks too to Ermes for being a gentle handler for our other Chihuahua/Terrier mix, Zoe, when she stays overnight. And we want to offer our deepest thanks to Dr. Topliff who has been so generously attentive to Elvis in the past year. Without her expert care and kindness, he would not have survived two different moments of life-threatening illness. Most of all, it is the love and commitment to healing all of these amazing professionals--Brandi, Jasmin, Makala, Cecilia, Heidi, Ermes, and Dr. Topliff--have shown Elvis that have allowed him to be with us today--all 4 pounds of him, alive and feisty as ever! We recommend this Houston clinic and their staff most highly and without reservation, and hope that this review helps other pet owners seeking a reliable veterinary clinic they can trust to steward their pets' health well and with kindness. Sending our warmest thanks to all at Southside Place Animal Hospital! Tony & Robin Davidson

As of 11/13/25, I stopped taking my dog here after I still have not heard back from the manager…read moreabout the incident that happened that day. Today is 11/25/25. Read below to find out more... I have been taking my dog to daycare for the last few months (just half days and a few times out of the week) to help socialize him and get his energy out. I only took him here because it's only a few minutes away from our house. I take my other dog to another daycare and now both of them attend the same daycare, NOT at Dogtopia. First off, I always request for HALF DAYS for my dog's daycare. I have several emailed receipts charging me for full days and I always have to call to let them know that they incorrectly charged me. After about the 5th time, I decided to just tell the front desk every time I pick up my dog to "please only charge for a half day." It was annoying but what's even more annoying is me having to call every single time I was incorrectly charged. Second, there's 2 workers in particular that are constantly crating my dog. I know this because I constantly check the cameras to see what my dog is up to. 9 times out of 10, depending on which worker is in charge of the room that he's in, he's crated. In my screenshot, you can see my timer at the top on exactly how long this worker kept my dog in the crate. 55 minutes is totally unacceptable and I still have not received any word from the manager about this. I was told that she was trying to keep my dog away from a senior dog that was vomiting several times that day. If my dog isn't the one vomiting and making a complete mess, then why are you crating MY dog?? When I came to pick up my dog, the worker told the girl in the room about the situation and I could tell she seemed annoyed having to unlock the door and uncrate my dog. It's as if she just wanted to keep him locked up for hours. Every time I've seen her on the cameras when my dog is with her, she has a bad attitude and always looks unhappy. Third, for over 1 month (not even exaggerating), their cameras weren't working so none of the owners had a way to check in on their dogs. Supposedly they said that it had something to do with the internet provider, however, they were all able to browse on their own work computer. Not going to lie, I was worried and tried avoiding taking my dog to daycare when the cameras weren't working because I had a feeling they were just crating my dog for who knows how long. I highly don't recommend this place whatsoever. I have been wanting to write this review for a long time and decided to wait to see if someone would reach out to me about the incident. It's been 12 days so I'm at the point where I'm convinced no one will reach out at this point. Please do not try to reach out to me to take down this review by bribing me with compensation. No amount of compensation for all the mishap will make me ever come back again!

I've been bringing my dogs here for years first my late dog, and now my current miniature schnauzer. If you look back at my previous review photos, you'll see the PERFECT schnauzer cut they used to do. Consistent. Professional. Distinguished little gentleman energy. Recently though, scheduling became nearly impossible. Every conversation sounded like: "Let me confirm if our groomer is actually working that day..." After weeks of trying to coordinate schedules, my schnauzer's hair got longer than ever. He loves wearing shirts, so yes, he had some matting. I paid extra for de-matting and gave very clear instructions: shave the skirt, but keep a full beard along with his chest and paws fluffy. Y'all... when I picked him up, I genuinely did not recognize my own dog. He walked in looking like a miniature schnauzer and walked out looking like a scrappy chihuahua named Peanut. They shaved EVERYTHING. His entire body, his face, even his whiskers. HIS WHISKERS. WTF. I know hair grows back and thankfully it's summer, but I honestly felt bad for him. As someone with longer hair myself, if somebody sat me down and buzzed me to the skin without warning, I'd probably need emotional support and a hoodie for a month. My dog still seems happy and unbothered, but I'm traumatized enough for both of us. After years of loyalty, this was incredibly disappointing and totally unacceptable. We will never come back..

From the first stay, I could tell they actually understand dogs, not just watch them. He came back relaxed, clean, and acting like himself, which says everything. I trust them with my dog, and that's not something I say lightly.
