This place is horrible they have too many dogs in one room do not keep overly aggressive dogs under control and place known aggressive dogs in their rooms . Run away they abuse animals by dragging them across the room by their neck collars they allow dogs to jump each other and say it is about setting relationships among dogs. My dog was bit by an aggressive dog they knew had issues but was in a room with over 20 dogs. She has a whole in her side now. Did not offer to pay for her bills much less the trauma. Then decided to try to find a reason to blame my dog for getting bit. It's just simply sad that they are so incapable of doing their job effectively and putting peoples pets in harms way. When I got to Dogtopia, I had to fill out paperwork, so the employee (older woman) started to pet my dog and asked if she could take him to meet another dog. I said sure and continued to fill out paperwork. Not moments later I hear my dog crying. The lady is now walking around the lobby. She took my dog and put him in a crate in the back, near grooming. Why? I was only filling out paperwork there were no rules saying that my dog couldn't be with me while I did so. I asked her to give my dog back immediately. She did, and I explained his history. I previously told her over the phone when making the appointment that I didn't want him being stuck in a kennel like they were going to do at another establishment for hours on end. She told me that he would be able to be in daycare while he waited for his haircut. The haircut was just fine. Nothing special about it. I'm ok with it. Not happy I can't watch to see what's happening and how he is being handled. They did however overcharge me for it, after we spoke on the phone and I received a quote. When I asked why I was being overcharged they said that's how much the haircut was. Then I get a call half an hour later saying they made a mistake and they were refunding me the difference. Please get it together. I watched my pup on the webcam while he did nothing in "daycare". That room was so boring I was falling asleep. I watched all three rooms, employees are standing around doing nothing with the dogs. Just simply a warm body, I'm not sure what your practices are, maybe they don't play with the dogs and they're just a referee to make sure nothing happens but I could not justify paying daycare in the future for literally no actual "care" provided or fun at all. Zero fun. I did watch another dog stress my dog out with constant jumping. The daycare attendant intervened twice out of the six times I watch that dog harassed my pup. Not impressed with services here, I'm not sorry to say I will not be back. Maybe this works for you but I expect more. read more

Been working in the area for a couple of years and passed by this place almost every single day. Never really thought about it much, but decided to try it out for grooming since my dog's groomer moved away recently. I was very nervous because my Yorkie is a rescue senior and has severe separation anxiety (probably due to her past). The staff was welcoming, kind, and so helpful. There was an error on my paperwork (my fault) and the staff was flexible and accommodating instead of just canceling my appointment. They were also very warm and patient with my Yorkie assuring me she would be okay. The grooming was excellent and done in a timely fashion. She looked amazing and she was not anxious, or avoidant, when I picked her up which let's me know they were very loving and gave her breaks during grooming. This is the Best Dog Daycare Facility in the Loop! I did alot of research before enrolling my dog anywhere and this was the best one. They have Live Webcams broadcasting all day- you can tune in and check on your pet. The staff has a genuine love of dogs, and it really shows. Also, they clean up within 2 mins of dogs peeing or pooing, the dogs get nap time, outdoor play and get fed. they have great hours, so if you work and have a puppy it is optimal. They also have someone in the room at ALL times, monitoring the dogs playing and cleaning up. It gives me great peace of mind to know that my dog is having fun, and being well taken care of while I am at work. in the mornings he gets so excited to be dropeed off- it really shows and When I pick him up, he is tired and happy. I will not be returning to Dogtopia for doggy daycare. This is difficult, because dogs cannot talk, so I don't know what happened. I brought my (large) dog on two days during working hours. I watched him on the camera, and he seemed fine. He didn't play much, but the room is not very big, so it is not conducive to much running around. "Nap time" is supposed to be 12-2, but they shut the cameras off well before 12, and on the two days my dog was there, they didn't turn the cameras back on until well after 2. That was very weird to me. At my dog's previous daycare, the cameras are always on. Its not so much a camera so you can see your dog play, but a camera so that you can see if they are being treated properly. I don't know why this place ever turns their camera off. On the third day (I went back since I assumed everything was OK) my dog absolutely refused to go inside the daycare. He completely flipped out so hard that he tore out of his collar and tried to run away. I ended up having to take him home, where he finally relaxed. I went back to the daycare the next day to get a refund on the 5 day pass I bought and they gave me a refund, no questions asked, which I appreciated. Now that my dog is home, he is acting extremely strange. He refuses to go for a morning walk. He will even hide in bed and act like its a VERY big deal when I put the leash on him. He has never done that. He has never acted so crazy. When I can finally get him on the leash to walk (which he normally loves) he becomes so startled by any noise that he freezes, puts his ears back, and his tail between his legs....like...like I'm going to hit him. I have never hit him. So this is very angering. My pup is pretty easy going, very sweet, and loves others dogs as playmates. His recent behavior change happened directly after I brought him to Dogtopia. I cannot possibly know what happened because they shut the camera off. :( Some other things that bothered me, and should have tipped me off right away: 1.) The large dog play area is very small, and during "nap time" the dogs are put into crates so the staff can clean. But they don't have enough large sized crates and I could see many of the large dogs were uncomfortable in their crate. I should have left when I saw that. 2.) The don't have a good system for checking in and out. They don't have a computer system. The write the dogs name on a piece of paper and then scratch it off when they get picked up. During pick up time they had to ask everyone a lot of questions to clarify who was who. That can be easily solved with some organization. 3.) When I first arrived, the had lost my paperwork, but said they would give me a call when my dog was finished with his evaluation. How are they going to call me if they can't find my paperwork? I had to ask the guy three times if I could leave my number just in case he ended up not finding my paperwork. My daycare in Lafayette, LA (which I would argue is a less sophisticated town) even had a computer system for the dogs, a large running area, and cameras on 24/7. 4.) The evaluation was extremely short. Evaluations normally last a full day, so I was surprised that two employees told me it would take only about 30 minutes. What can you evaluate in 30 min? You don't get to see how the dog plays, eats, sleeps, reacts to different stimuli. In fact, you don't get to see if a dog has any quirks. So maybe the dog has a quirk where he doesn't like being pulled on his leash and you yank his leash....well he is going to flip out and hate you. Sounds like maybe what happened to my dog. Pros: The staff were nice people. They were friendly, smiled, and returned my money quickly. I'm sure as individuals, they are great. read more

They are all very sweet and nice, seem to really care about our pups, we've only groomed with them and they always come out clean smelling and beautiful. The one that gets trimmed/cut is our Australian Shepard/Collie mix with long fur and they do a very good job giving her the correct cut, which is not easy to do! I take both of my Westies to Happy Tails and I have always been pleased with their service. They truly do care about dogs...the receptionist and the groomer let my puppy lick their faces, I do not even do that! It's pricier than some other places, but I never have to worry about my dogs. I typically have to leave them for half the day or more on their appointment dates, and they are happy and cheerful when I finally do pick them up. Another thing I really love about Happy Tails is that they hold several events per year/month that assist local animal related charities like Rescues. The events range from car washes, to movie nights, to galas so it is very easy to get involved in their mission if you'd like. We've never used their boarding services, my review relates only to grooming services. read more

Yep, I have turned into one of those people. You know the ones... The ones who buy bows and "outfits" for their dogs. The ones who squeal in delight at a pink rhinestoned, blinged out collar, or little pink tutu, thinking how "adorable" it would be on their puppy. The kind who wondered how all these years, I managed to make it without a dog, and why oh why I didn't get one years back. I had my first trip planned, AD (after dog) and started thinking about where I was going to leave her for the Memorial Day weekend. She had finally received all her shots, and I called Dogtopia to see if I could get more information on their daycare and boarding. The person that answered the phone, Suzanne was super sweet, and explained the paperwork needed, prices, and what to expect prior. She had also mentioned that I would need to bring the dog in prior for an assessment to see if she would be accepted for boarding. I made it through round one, and agreed to drop Lucy off the Friday before Memorial day, until the following Tuesday. The really cool thing is, you can watch your dog on your computer webcam while out of town to make sure they are okay. They even have an ipad and iphone app. It's more for peace of mind, and allowed me to breathe a little easier knowing it was the first time away. When I picked up my pup, she was having the time of her life, they had also groomed her, which I had requested. They have a puppy package for starters for $25. She came away smelling like jellybeans! You can tell the people who work there REALLY care about animals, and I felt like they cared about my dog. When I got her home, she was pooped, and went to bed at 830! It isn't cheap, but its well worth paying for someone knowing that your dog is in good hands, when they mean so much to you. My dog liked going but one I complained about the fact that she came home smelling like urine and I was practically scolded at. I also so recall one time I pulled in at 7:01 and buy the time I walked in it was 2 minutes after and around 7:05 after standing there I was scolded and as they close at 7 pm (been going there a year so i knew that). I get it but I feel they were just rude about it. Houston traffic can be rough. I'd rather just get charged extra than be scolded at. I took a break going (been over a year) and went to the pooch pad ever since. It's been great there. No issues over the last year. I am disappointed with Dogtopia Houston's service over Thanksgiving. Firslty, their webcams didn't work most of the time, and secondly, my puppy looked sad (it's tail was down) on the two occasions that I could see him online. On the first occasion when we had a view of the daycare room online, the Dogtopia employee looked absolutely disinterested in all the puppies who were there, even though they were following him around. He seemed to really bored and kept fidgeting with his clothes instead of playing with the puppies. On the second occasion, the same employee was just lying on the dog bed resting and not really playing with any of the puppies (some of them were trying to get his attention to be carried). They also returned my puppy with muddy paws, saying that he went for a walk - the thing is, since their facility is mainly an indoor one, and since I picked my baby up as soon as they opened, I wasn't sure how they could have brought him "outside" for a walk. I am thinking of changing to a different service provider :( read more

I've been taking my pup to Dogtopia for the past 3 years and am so happy to see how he acts going in and out. They always give him a treat when he comes. I take it him being happy (if he isn't he won't eat) I am one of those dog owners who is over bearing and protective of their 4-legged child. The front desk staff is very accommodating and friendly. I get the feeling they truly love what they do. I love the feature that you can watch your pet online on the webcams. And I am a webcam JUNKIE when it comes to my dog. The only reason why I don't give them 5 stars is that the afternoon staff who watches the dogs seems to be more interested in watching their cell phones rather than the dogs. read more

I was very pleased in the begining and was taking my dog every 6 weeks because the staff was very nice and friendly. The last time I took her they did not cut her hair well and when I asked Lisa (groomer) very nicely about that she just told me that no she gave her the same cut as she did before. She did not even offer to fix it and made it sound as I did not know what I was talking about. I think that I am pretty good in telling if the hair cut of my dog was as good as it was before. I guess I was expecting an offer to fix the hair cut because I was a very loyal customer. I cannot say enough great things about this place! Two different people recommended I take my wildly insane puppy there. My only complaint is that she officially likes daycare more than she likes being at home. She has a great time and plays all day instead of being locked in a crate. I used to board her at the vet, which I really like, too, but she enjoys Dogtopia so much more. I'm dropping her off for a week and I have no concerns about leaving her there. The owner is very friendly and all of the employees are also friendly. They have had the same ladies working there since I've started going, which says a lot about the way a company is ran. have taken my dogs for a long time but have noticed a major decline in service. The last few times I have taken him he has had something come up two to three days later? His ears got infected a few appts. ago and the last time I found flea dirt on him 36 hours after taking him there? It made me wonder. Of course, I can not say this is due to the place, but again I state it did have me wondering. And when I pick him up he urinates forever, so i worry if he has even been out??? Because of my history I decided to give it one more try and when I took him in (post reserving a spot) he had been scratched from the books because of missing paperwork. I was treated like I had done something wrong and also like I never bring him there and was a "newcomer"and decided, enough is enough. We've been customers for 12 years. They are the best! Don't believe anything you hear from someone who is not a customer. They have taken care of all of our dogs and gone the distance in customer service. Our dogs have loved the daycare, boarding and grooming. It is their second home. Julie, Susan, Sandi, Don, Angel and Rod just to name a few of the fabulous staff that gives their all to take care of our pets. Don is a community minded owner and has done so much for rescue. I'm done taking my dog here for grooming. It's been 3 times that they've cut his nails too short too the point were it uncomfortable for him and today was the worse. He refuses to out any weight on a specific paw. Groomer didn't even have the guts to come out and apologize or explain what happened. Brought my dog here for boarding, noticed a very strong odor in the lobby, but brushed it off because meh it's a dog boarding facility. Once I picked her up, and we got into the car I noticed a strong smell of urine. Poor baby reeked of it. I Immediately had to bathe her when she got home because the smell was unbearable...who knows how long she had been like that? After a couple of hours, she wouldn't get up or put any weight down on her leg. Rushed her to our vet and found out she had an infection in her foot that caused her to have a puss like mass to form...I was unable to get answers out of anyone, everyone claimed ignorance. I brought my cocker here a few times trying to get her cut just right, and then right when i thought they had the measurements down and we'd figured it out, they cut all her skirt off. There was barely a difference between the top, which was cut short as it should be, and the skirt, which should be noticeably longer. I was upset when i got her and said something about it, and they said the groomer was gone, but i could call back. I called back and spoke w/ the manager over my displeasure, and she said she would speak w/ the groomer and call me back. My main point was to figure out what went wrong so i could feel good about bringing her back. I was not trying to fight w/ them over a bad haircut on my dog, i thought maybe i could bring her in for a touch up so we could establish a skirt. When i never got my call back was when Dogtopia clearly stated that they did not care about their customers. On to the next of many groomers in town... read more

When our pooch comes home she exhausted from a day of full on play. We have been taking her here for months and the staff have been nothing but friendly, informative, and interested in the well being of our dog, Queenie. The keep you informed of health news -- heck they are better about reminding me of shot updates better than my vet. During a family emergency the staff even went out of their way to help me transport my dog to and from "school". Oh and the groomers and bathers are top notch! I've been taking my frenchie pug here for about a month now (once a week) and he loves it. Whenever I pick him up at the end of the day he's so exhuasted and falls asleep as soon as we get home. He's so happy now that he goes to daycare. You can watch your dog on their webcam too. They have at least 1 trainer in the doggie rooms at all times so someone is always watching the dogs. The only bad thing is that it messes up my dog's potty schedule because they let the dogs potty in the room (quick clean up though!). I don't really expect the trainers at Dogtopia to take out all ~50 of the dogs in the room one by one at each of the dog's designated break time so I guess it's okay. read more

Our pup loves Dogtopia! Maybe too much, as he seems to like it more than being with us at home. We also enjoy the online app with camera's to check in on him during the day. The grooming and bathing service is top notch. We know he is in safe, capable hands, and will come out with a perfect schnauzer cut. If we take him to the local pet supply stores for a grooming he appears scared and traumatized. That is not the case at Dogtopia - he springs out happy and playful every time.
