Took Happee to Dogz101 in Redwood City for grooming with a bath and deshed, and we had a really good experience. She was clearly taken care of well and came out looking so clean, soft, and refreshed. One thing that made the whole visit even easier was the parking. They have several designated spots, and there is even a 1 hour spot that is usually open. Since drop off for grooming only takes about 5 minutes, parking was honestly not an issue at all. The shop itself also feels new, clean, and refreshing, which makes a big difference when you are leaving your dog in someone else's care. Less than a year and a half later, new location, and the price of grooming went to $170. The quality of grooming went down and on the most recent groom., it seems the groomer may have nicked my dog with dirty Shears which led to a cyst an infection. This ended up being a $900 emergency room visit. Whilst I can't confirm this is what happened, it is highly suspected from the vet as the cyst became noticeable a few days later. Do NOT take your dog here. We have been a customer for 3-4 years, but as they moved to their new location, and specifically the last two visits have been atrocious. Our dog had a dried up cut that had scabbed and we informed the groomer. They cut around her scab and somehow reopened the wound and it ended up getting infected. 3 visits to the vet and 2 weeks of antibiotics. Unfortunate as it is, it was an accident and we moved on. Today, we pick up our 2 dogs and 1 of our dogs ears were butchered. It's hair (fur)so it'll grow back, but this was intentional. I'm in tears. This is unacceptable and when we complained, we were told to write a note or I am here writing a review for others to be aware! They've groomed our dogs for years!!! Why do this now?!?! **Responding to the owner. When we picked up Lea with the infected wound, we didn't notice it at pick up. We noticed it when we got home and we texted you and we were ignored. I understood it was an accident and didn't feel the need to push the matter further. When we picked up Lea today, my husband did express concern at pick up and was told to "leave a note" so I texted you and again, it went without any response. I said intentional in this case because the groomer decided to cut it this way. It was not an accident. We did reach out. I have texts. We expressed our concern and dismay and we were ignored. Just stating facts and sharing my experience with your business. Curious why you chose to not respond to our texts and bring it here for further airing of it all. Absolutely love this place! Jeannette grooms our pup Bert, who is both anxious and new to the whole grooming world. She is incredibly sweet and gentle with him, and he always comes out looking so handsome. I was nervous to take him anywhere because he's a rescue and gets extremely anxious when I try to do any grooming at home, but we've now had two amazing experiences here. Jennifer is AWESOME! Our 3 year old dog Scrappy had no training or much socialization and I interviewed Jennifer along with 3 other dog-training school owners and chose Jenn as the best fit. Jenn's sets the dog on a routine, gets the dog to "heel properly", teaches the dog to ignore distractions and they have a "calm down" period. The dog is in a home setting so it is easy to transition back to his permanent home. She eventually took the dog to Home Depot where there are other dogs and lots of noise and our dog Scrappy passed the test. He needed to learn who was in command; who was the leader. He returned home after his 20-day stay with her (and other dogs) and she taught my son and I how to stay in command with Scrappy. I am amazed at his progress!! Dogz101 was my and my wife's first experience with a dog trainer. We have a 5 year old Datsun mix (Levi) who is the love of our life, but needed some discipline. Levi is challenged with anxiety and his untreated symptoms had my wife and I embarrassed to take him out in public as he would constantly be barking, screaming, and crying. We needed help with obedience and reactivity training without a doubt. So we reached out to Dogz101 for their free consultation and received timely follow ups to our inquiries. Jennifer came out to our house where she listened attentively to my explanations of Levi's typical behavior. After understanding our situation, Jen confirmed that we would benefit from obedience and reactivity training. Before our consultation, we were considering going with a different training outfit considering that Dogz101 was a bit more expensive than others in the market. However, Jennifer's experience and our need for private (1 on 1) lessons, we continued forward with Dogz101 training plan. We signed up for a 6 1-hour long sessions package for a little over $900. Jen provided training equipment for the first few sessions until we were able to acquire our own. She was very helpful, providing us links to the different tools she showed us how to use during our training sessions. She explained very thoroughly how to use each tool correctly (slip lead, elevated dog mat, treat pouch, prong collar, etc.). She was very knowledgeable about when it is appropriate/warranted to use the different types of leads/collars. She taught us drills to walk through with Levi to reinforce the good behavior we were looking for. She also taught us how to properly correct the negative behavior when it arose. After the first session, Jen was very clear that we needed to apply and reinforce what we learned through daily 15 minute training sessions. This meant we had daily homework in order to reinforce the different lessons in all of our heads. Jen answered all of our questions we had and provided effective constructive feedback during our 1 on 1 sessions. This was very helpful to have a trainer's full attention as we ran through different exercises with Levi. We gained trust in ourselves and in our dog as the sessions went by. At the end of the training, we came out totally different in the way that we approach training, rewarding and discipling our dog. We are now equip with the tools both physical and mental to reinforce good behavior we want our dog to practice, but also correct the negative behavior as needed, especially overwhelmed in public or social interactions with other dogs. Dogz101 has room for improvement in terms of their updating contracts, website information and internal communication. I received inconsistent information from Jen and her office manager separately (the office manager handled the initial coordination and paper work). For example, prior to sending the money I asked the office manager to confirm the amount of classes for payment amount. Jen verbally communicated that the payment was for 5 sessions during our in person consultation, while the office manager formally communicated the payment was for 6 sessions. I specifically asked the office manager to confirm the sessions count, given that I was told different information by Jen in person. She said she confirmed that the package amount was for 6 sessions, so I signed the contract and sent the money over. Only after the payment was sent, the office manager told me that she made a mistake and that the payment amount was for 5 sessions. Initially this a bit frustrating, but this did not turn out to be an issue, as Jen honored the contract I signed for six sessions. Additionally, the contract that I was provided to sign had outdated information pertaining from their previous training package structure, and did not apply to the plan we were signing up for. Lastly, the Dogz101 website displays inconsistent information regarding available training packages (package payment amounts and quantities of training sessions), making it difficult for me to confirm exactly what I was signing myself up for. In the end, these were minor details/criticisms as the signed contract was honored by Jennifer. This knowledge we have acquired from these sessions is invaluable and I highly recommend anyone with a pup that has some disobedience challenges to reach out to Dogz101 for a training consultation. What a disappointment Dogz101 was for us and our dog. We got a price quote of $85 and we gave the front desk explicit directions as to the length that we would like are 5 pound Maltese clipped to. We also pointed out that she has skin tags and to be careful of them when shaving. Instead, they completely shaved one skin tag off and when we picked her up, she was bleeding. They had the audacity to charge $108 for the service and they didn't even trim her toenails. Trimming toenails is a must when you have a a request for a full grooming. I recently adopted Soka - a 5 year old rottweiler/German Shepard mix. Although she was an incredibly loving and sweet dog at home, when we left the house we were challenged with leash aggression, barking/growling, extreme pulling on the leash, and not listening to commands. Soka and I went to Dogz101 for an training evaluation - due to her age and long-standing behaviors they recommended a 5 week board and train program. I was reluctant to make the commitment - but so glad I did! It one of the best investments I have ever made! Soka lived, worked and played with the Dogz101 Founder and Owner Jennifer Bazan for 5 weeks. We met Jennifer and Soka a few times during the training and Jennifer sent many videos of the training techniques she was using and videos of Soka and her new behaviors. Stay away from this place; we had an awful experience. We knew our dog had some mats, and we were transparent about it with this groomer but expressed that we like a long cut so please bear that in mind. Other dog groomers, if they feel they can't give the desired cut, will give owners an option of either de-matting at home or accepting a shave cut, or close to it. Dogz101 told us it would be "shorter" than the long length we told them we prefer, but said nothing about a shave cut. There's an enormous difference between "it'll be shorter than the long length you're used to" and "it will be exceptionally short, bordering on a shave." They did this without asking. They also didn't even try to make him look even: they didn't cut his tail at all. He looks awful, it will take months to grow back, and when I called to just give them some gentle feedback about our experience (I prefer to give direct feedback than write a bad review), all they said was "this isn't technically a shave." As a customer, I don't care about semantics or the exact specifications of a blade; this dog is functionally shaved and I am pretty angry about it. I cannot recommend Barak highly enough for anyone looking to transform their dog's behavior! I enrolled Savannah (7 year old German Shepard Mix) in the 30-day board and train program, and the results were simply astounding. From the moment Barak came to pick up Savannah, I knew she was in great hands. A little background, Savannah's journey has been a bit rough My Ex and I had two dogs. We lost one who she was attached to and she really didn't know any better. I couldn't take Savannah full time and my ex didn't want her. He left her with his father who kept her in the garage with unlimited food supply. This led to hip problems, separation anxiety (when I had to drop her back off after a few days). Very disappointed with Dogz101. We decided to move forward with Dogz101 due to the high reviews and experience with the bully breeds. From the beginning we had issues. We attempted to schedule the evaluation online but were told by the manager, Priscilla, we first needed to speak with the trainer. A phone appointment was made with Tony. Unfortunately, the manager messed up with the dates and scheduled the phone appointment on the trainer's day off. Tony reached out a day later and apologized for the mix up. We understand mistakes can happen and we booked the in person evaluation. At the in person evaluation appointment, the information we provided online was somehow lost. We had to provide the trainer with our information and our puppy's information which at this point made us question the way they do business. Tony was great, we had a good conversation about bully breeds and he recommended the in board program. He gave us some time to think it through and let us know to reach out to Priscilla for booking. We reached out to Priscilla and decided to book a private session first before committing to the in board. Priscilla booked us for the highway 85 package. Fast forward to the first session, Tony declined the private session package. Because of her breed, he insisted we do the in boarding program and had to once again apologize because Priscilla should have not booked us for highway 85 package. While at the facility, they let us know our file was lost again, causing yet another mix up. The evaluation was confusing as he recommended the in board but wasn't clear that our puppy couldn't be allowed for other packages. The main reason we did not want to move forward with in board training was because we don't know the trainer, we don't know how our puppy will respond to his training, and most importantly his way of training. We were really hoping to work with Tony and the team at Dogz101 but it seems like they are vey unorganized with no communication between the manager and trainer. We had been investing in the success of our Am Staff puppy (Herschel) since we found each other, but our pup kept his circle of trusted people very small. In the first year, that circle only my husband and I. After a few rounds of separation anxiety training (yay - we can leave the house!) and puppy classes, we were struggling in building confidence and impulse control in Herschel. A friend pointed us to Tony at Dogz101 as he was known to work with Bully breeds and all their unique personality traits. After talking about his training style we understand it's more a balanced training vs strictly positive reinforcement. We had only used positive reinforcement to date so we talked a lot about what this means. Understanding these are all tools to use that could help Herschel be successful - we identified 2 blocks of time we could book some in home board and train sessions with Tony. The end goal was to have a dog that we could hike with off-leash with a confident recall. We just recently picked Herschel back up from his second block of in home board and train session and we are so incredibly impressed with the progress we have all made! It did take a team effort - but with the dedicated time as well as helping us learn how to best support his progress in weekly classes - we have come a long way. The work is now in our hands as it is just like exercising a muscle - we all still train to reinforce what we have learned. Our relationship has turned us from exhausted and frustrated to playful and joyful. I give that credit to Tony in that switch and it has been so impactful. Today, I'm happy to say - Herschel has expanded his circle of trusted people to include Tony. Tony at Dogz101 was a lifesaver for us! Our dog Einstein was in serious need of training. Einstein had behavioral issues from the day we took him in. He appeared to have suffered with his previous family . He had horrible separation anxiety, he was on several anxiety medications, including prescription ones, he was leash aggressive, dog aggressive, and was starting to show signs people aggression in some scenarios. We had tried everything possible and were at a loss. I reached out to Dogz101 and received a text from them within minutes. They were able to accommodate a next day appointment for evaluation. Tony evaluated Einstein and determined the best option would be a board and train program. I've heard some scary things about board and train programs but Tony's compassion and kindness towards Einstein made me feel comfortable with his plan. Tony was with Einstein 24/7, he sent us regular updates with photos and videos. Tony made himself available by providing his cell phone number and we were welcomed to text any time for updates. During the first check in, we could see an immediate change in Einstein's behavior. He was calmer, more well behaved, and happier than we had ever seen him. Each check in showed dramatic improvement! He's made so much progress and it's made a huge impact on our lives. Einstein can go on walks without any aggression toward other dogs and he's able to play with other dogs now. My husband and I often talk about how lucky we feel that we found Dogz101 - well, 'we' being me, because I did the thorough research and review vetting ;) Truthfully, being taught by Seth has been life-changing. We adopted our pup as a 4 month old who would grow to be a large dog. My husband and I have only had small to medium dogs in our family all our lives and we're also expecting our second child, so we knew we had to make sure we committed as much time and energy as possible to train our pup before baby came. We started with the puppy kickstarter with Seth and learned the fundamentals of leash pressure and rewards. It was so eye-opening to learn methods that felt very natural and intuitive. She was already a smart pup (part Australian cattle dog and shepherd) and she thrived with the structure and accountability Seth taught us to provide to her. He also emphasized how important it was to meet her where she was at in terms of age and energy and I really appreciated his emphasis on that structure and accountability while reminding us to give her lots of love and breaks. After puppy kickstarter, we decided to go for the Highway 85 package and do 5 privates with Seth and 5 beginner group sessions. I'm writing this after finishing up our privates and our second group class and I can truly say Sesame has become such a well-trained, well-behaved almost 1 year old! Don't get me wrong, she still has her puppy tendencies but every day she matures and our confidence in her grows. A shining moment for us was after maybe our 3rd private session, we took her to a park and let her leash go so she could roam with lots of distractions for the first time (squirrels, people, kids, bikes, other dogs) and she listened to every 'leave it' and 'come' command despite all those things. We were floored and thoroughly impressed!! I'm the type of person who asks a ton of questions when learning and constantly peppered Seth with questions during our sessions and he always gave us really clear and concise directions. He was consistent with principles he applied, which made his lessons and advice easy to follow, and any time we were confused, he was very patient with repeating with us. You can tell he loves what he does and loves dogs and truly believes in their capabilities. He's also hilarious and entertaining, breaking things down with real world examples. In all honesty, it took a lot of work and discipline to learn and train ourselves and hold ourselves accountable to being consistent with her training. If you are willing to learn and truly want to create a strong bond with your dog, I cannot recommend Seth and Dogz101 enough! (We also booked a 10-day facility board and train with them and had no issues, loved receiving updates whenever we liked on how she was doing. Dogz101 is our go-to groomers. Super friendly and helpful staff and owner. Scheduling right (Sept 2020) was about a week out. We usually get the full service for our dog including the extra teeth cleaning service (extra $10). Our dog is so nice and soft after a trip to Dogz101. Would def recommend this place. As an added bonus, if you're there on Fri or Sats late afternoons then you can pop by Jack's Fire to pick up some nice BBQ ribs. Would def recommend Dogz101!!! read more

Let your chihuahua mix drag you to Dogz101 for training, then watch as they leave walking calmly next to you when you pick them up! Just picked my little dude back up after 8 days! He went in needing some brushing up on his leash manners, plus some work on being dog reactive and needing to get some confidence in general! I am happy to share that although he's only 15lbs and a Chi-mutt, they treated him like a prince! If you're on the fence about it or feel like you can't justify bringing your small dog in for training, please believe me when I say that your dog worth investing in. The trainers at Dogz101 show so much love and professionalism to your dog, no matter their size, temperament and/or issue. It was fun to follow his progress on Dogz101's IG stories and posts while he was there, and we even got a few fun ideas for games he enjoyed to recreate at home. We missed him (we're total saps!) but never once regretted having him spend a week at "camp". Unfortunately I haven't been able to really test my dog out by taking him to brunch in close proximity to other dogs (thanks coronavirus), but he's already more calm in general, heels on walks, and hasn't barked like a wild man when we see other dogs across the street. Pre-training, he'd have been trying to drag me across the street and making all sorts of awful snarls. We've been working with Dogz101 since January and our dog Willow has had so much improvement! She is dog reactive and highly anxious as a rescue and the trainers have been wonderful in showing us how to communicate with Willow. She can now walk by other dogs and ignore them which we would never have expected a year ago. They offer private and group classes which allowed us to work with Willow 1:1 and then around dogs/distractions. The trainers are big on building those foundations and then putting you in real life situations. Is your dog reactive to other dogs running? They will bring their demo dogs out to run around you. We cannot thanks the dogz101 trainers enough because our dog is no longer an embarrassment in public! The trainers are also all readily available if you have questions and are active on IG. They've even provided suggestions on dog sports we could get Willow into and we've been taking her to barn hunt classes through one of their connections. We've taken our ~110lb Newfoundland to Dogz101 for grooming twice now and both times were impressed with how well Dustin did. On both occasions there was a lot of work to be done - wash/dry, mat removal, ears, nail trim, feather trim and she came out looking and smelling fantastic. It takes about 4-5 hours total (since it takes a while for her to dry), communication with the front desk is easy. I highly recommend - worth every penny. read more

Took our dog to get groomed and gave the front desk clear instructions on grooming: 1-2" minor trim throughout but OK to trim rear fur a bit more, do not shave (long fur dog). Our dog came back fully shaved and it was an extremely sloppy job. There were longer patches throughout and we had to clean it up ourselves. We have taken our dog to get groomed at other groomers multiple times (20+) and have never once experienced anything so horrible and unprofessional. Our long furred dog looks hideous and it will take months for his fur to grow back. We took our dog to the vet the next day and they checked his nails that were supposed to be trimmed along with the grooming service. She said only a few nails were trimmed and we had to pay the vet to trim the rest of his nails. I would not recommend this place and will never go back; unprofessional, do not follow directions, low quality groomers, are not familiar with dog breeds and how they should be groomed, and do not complete the services that you pay for. read more

I highly recommend dogz101 for dog training! We have two large German Shepherd puppies that, at the start of the 35 day board and train their were extremely reactive to other human males and barked constantly. It got to the point that we can no longer have guest come over to our house. At the end of the Board and train they are no longer reactive to people and they're barking is almost nonexistent. This program has completely changed our dogs life and our life for the better. I can't say enough about the trainer Tony. He worked with us through the whole training program and continues to answer questions even to this day. He has really gone above and beyond! The board and train was worth every penny! read more
