Please avoid Sara Hartman. Words can't express how poorly she did my hair color. I didn't think it was that bad walking out​ until I realized the mass amount of damage to my hair days later. It was very overpriced for her how bad it turned out. I am spending over $250 to fix my hair with someone in downtown Denver and I'll have to wait for parts to grow out because of the damage. Unfortunately, I had no idea when I called to Dolce Vita to schedule an appt for root touch up. She left color stain all over my forehead, my neck and both ears. The color itself turned way out of proportion. She is very rude & won't listen to your requests. She will rudely dismiss your questions regarding the desired color. Please avoid her at any cost. I had my hair done by Sara Hartman and it was the worst experience I have ever had with a stylist. I deserve a full refund for the disaster she created on my head. I have had to spend another $250 for corrective color on top of the $200 i gave her. I had blisters on my scalp when I left! I have had to cut 5 inches off my length after she deep fried my hair and I still have 1/2 inch black roots showing on half of my head. On top of her destroying my hair she was also incredible condescending and rude. She made comments about the way I was dressed and my makeup. She kept asking me where i shopped and why. She also suggested I apply my eye makeup differently so I was "prettier." She said I would find a boyfriend if I listened to her. If color wasn't already on my head I would have gotten up and walked out. When I was finally able to leave I sat in my car and cried for half an hour before immediately calling another salon to fix my hair. They took me in that afternoon for a consult. They were able to start corrective color the next week. I had to deep condition my hair and do 2 protein treatments to strengthen my hair before they would risk putting more chemicals on it. When I called her to talk to her about my hair and ask for my money back she refused and said I was ungrateful for all her hard work. It was beyond offensive! When she wasn't busy insulting me she was going on and on about her diet and body. She said a lot of women don't get along with her because she is so pretty. I think it is because she is unprofessional, rude and very much into herself. Just run!!!!! This will be a nightmare for you!!! read more

This is a review of Sara Hartman at Dolce Vita. This isn't a review or attack of Sara as a person, the business as a whole, only my specific experience and opinion. I hope it can help others. I spent $160 on the WORST hair experience imaginable-- I had such high hopes because of Sara's other reviews on here! However, this is what you may experience if you book with Sara: -I didn't appreciate comments on my age: I was told I "act too mature for being 21." I was really shocked about how oddly judgemental that is and that she commented on my living situation as a college student. I didn't pay to be critiqued on my personal life by a stranger and it made me uncomfortable. I was also told, "I ask too many questions like a kid" when I was curious about her advice on hair products. I regret not walking out then. -She didn't listen to my ideas. I brought pictures of hair ideas and instead of listening,​ she jumped right into coloring it and talking about her protein sponsorship/fitness competitions. -She talked poorly about her other, regular clients. I found it strange Sara talked to me about her client who brought her cookies that day and said they were really bad. Talking poorly about clients is beyond unprofessional. -She was eating during the appointment next to me and started curling her hair in the corner. This is super unprofessional! -She may rush the appointment...she rushed my balayage appointment in under 2 hours and I felt out of place. -She gave a really bad shampoo with her acrylic nails digging into my scalp and pulling my hair. The experience was beyond bad and my hair looks cheap, unnatural, over-processed​, and not even close to what I requested. It was ORANGE with my natural dark roots. :/ It didn't go well with my skin tone, eyes or features​. I wanted a balayage with subtle caramel and brown. I was clear on what I wanted and very flexible to hear her opinion (she's the professional I had thought...) When I was shocked by how bad it looked and started tearing up, she didn't apologize or take any responsibility at ANY point. Instead,​ she kept saying it's because I'm not used to hair color and probably "not good with change." She blamed everything on me having had boxed color at one point (that was very close dark brown shade to my naturally​ dark hair.) In reality, I just didn't want damaged, rusty, streaky orange hair with black roots. She accused me of being indecisive when I was shocked how it turned out. She toned the color down and it looked awful and didn't have time to style my hair because she was "getting a spray tan before meeting her family." So I scheduled to get it fixed with her 2 weeks later. When I went back to Dolce Vita to get it corrected, she was 20 minutes LATE to the appt for no apparent reason. She wanted my advice on how to fix it and didn't know what to do after the mistake. She again toned down the color and it improved​ slightly but it was still a FAR far cry from the simple balayage I asked for originally. Months later, my hair looks awful and is VERY damaged I feel. ​I wish she would have been honest that she seems not qualified to do a simple balyage color. I would have gladly found someone else. I'm all about supporting women and small business owners, but this was a very expensive letdown. I left feeling really bad about myself from her comments. At the end of the day, hair is just hair but this was a really unpleasant and shocking experience with Sara. If a hairstylist anywhere makes you feel devalued, leave immediately. Update: As if it wasn't a bad experience, Sara has contacted me directly through a text to discuss this review. read more

I have been going to Sara Hartman for a year now. I looked her up online when I found her it said she's a specialist with blonde hair. The last time and the time before that I noticed my hair was getting thin and damaged. She was a half hour late the last 2 appointments. The last 2 times I would come out and didn't feel like I got my hair done. I just went to somebody today and she couldn't believe how damaged my hair was. She said that Sara was bleaching over the bleach parts and frying my hair. I've never had this much damage, I had to cut my hair short to hopefully get it back to where it was. I feel completely stupid that I went to her this whole time. Totally a waste of money. I spent $120.00 plus a tip she didn't deserve. She isn't reasonably priced. Where I went today I spent $110.00. My boyfriend has been getting his hair done by her for over 7 years, since before she was at dolce, and through the many different styles he has gone thru with his hair, he has never even had to get a fix by her! He's been seeing her every 10 days forever! And when we first got together, I had been seeing my previous stylist for years. After the many attempts to get me to see her, I finally decided to give her a chance. Best decision I ever made! She's extremely personable, she listens to me as her client, she cares about what I say and what I ask for, and takes the time and puts in the effort to make sure it's exact, from the color, to the cut.
