I agree with the couple of reviews below. It's very annoying when you're sitting waiting and there's a line of people behind you and you need to go find a cashier. I would say this happens maybe 30% of the time I'm there. I think DG should have at least two people working there at all times. If they do it's sad that the other one doesn't come up front and help. Otherwise I've always found the employees to be pleasant and a good variety of products on the shelves. read more

Most of the employees are so sweet! I love them so much. I had to go in there to get products and I was a bit embarrassed because of women things.. I had set the box of product up on the counter pretty ashamed this man looked at me and he said "is this for you " I had just looked around and I was like "yes it is... Why?" He had just said "well you seem a bit ashamed of buying these it's not that big of a deal sweetie trust me no one cares and I'm not trying to be mean but I'm just saying it's natural it happens don't be ashamed of it, all right?" I thought it was very rude for the cashier lady to be talking on the phone to a friend while she was scanning my items and bagging them. I tried telling her a couple times that an item was on sale and she didn't hear me, she rang it up full price. So I just ate the $1.50 loss, not worth waiting around and also there was alot of people in line behind me. I usually go to Channahon $ store, which the employees are 100% nicer, and cleaner, but I was in Minooka at the time. Won't be doing that again! Live & learn. read more

This Dollar general seems to be on the steep side of pricing for a "dollar store" and is very cramped and outdated. Aside from this, they have a huge selection, seems to be kept in pretty organized order, and I can browse their many isles for about an hour! Plus, the staff here is always friendly (the kind of friendly service you hope for in a small town). read more

So, I start off my dollar general visit with no help from any of the workers. Couldn't find what I was looking for, so I just said forget it. So I finally go to checkout, and some man looks right at me, and cuts me in line. As we're waiting there for another 10 minutes, I see a lighter that I thought would be useful for my candles. I set it on the counter, and the merchant "Alyssa" immediately looks at it and was like "I can't sell this to you" in a very rude manner. And I had asked her why, and she said that I had to be over 30 years old to purchase a lighter. And then she took my ID anyways, and scanned it for no reason. I don't know, but if you need to go to a dollar general, go to the one in Channahon, the workers are much nicer and helpful, and nobody cuts you in line. read more

I am a little bit surprised.. you would think going to a dollar store would be cheaper than any other place around but I can go to Jewel and find things cheaper than this store. The customer service here is absolutely awful but I'm guessing that's in regard to the customer service standards of the manager being awful. When I buy things from the store I don't expect the manager, who is ringing me out to be throwing my items in my bags or putting them in there sideways that they're going to leak all over the place. This location is always absolutely disgusting and there's garbage all over the floor and on the shelves. My recommendation is drive a little bit further go to jewel where it is clean and you'll be paying less. read more

I've been going to this Dollar General for many years mostly out of convince as it is close to my home. The lines are so ridiculously long as there is typically only one cashier even though other employees are spread out across the store. One time I was there 2 employees did not see me as they were exchanging F-words. I was trying to get in and out on my lunch today but with 1 cashier and 10 other customers standing in line I put my items down and left empty handed. Not to mention the older gentleman employee that was picking his underwear out of this pants in the candy aisle. This place needs new management ASAP! If you don't have to go, don't. read more

Numerous times i have had to search for a cashier because I was ready to check out, I've been in line with others and they have gone to find an employee to check everyone out.. so that part is rather annoying. The store is extremely crammed at all times, more so up front than anything. Employees do try to have the best attitudes that they can, they are very helpful when things that are on the top of the shelves are needed. When they're out of something they try and give the best time frame they can on when it will be back. All in all, good customer service, consider a bell for up front maybe! read more

Huge inventory for relatively small place. Can always find what I am looking for. Reasonable prices & saves me a trip to wally world. Thank God! A little under staffed, (that's big corporate for you) but always friendly & helpful, also very busy. They have a HUGE turnaround on product, so they are ALWAYS restocking. Every time we have gone to this location, there is a problem. The staff is not friendly, there is always a wait, there are carts in isles, and the door has needed to be fixed for years. Get with the program Dollar General. read more

Must be the location because it seems like a handful of retailers in this strip mall are rude. Have had a couple of experiences with rude customer service, and one of them was from the assistant manager! An encap display had cases of Libby's vegetables with a sale sign that said vegetable sale 2 for $1. I brought 36 cans with my purchased and asked if there was a limit on the sale. I was told no. They rang up at full price so my clerk, who was also the assistant manager, said she was going to check the sign, she brought the sign up and said it was for clover valley vegetables and not Libby's: someone must have put the sign in the wrong place. I said she should honor the sign since it was displayed that way. She said she couldn't do that. I said that's fine, I'll just take a picture of the sign and explain the situation to the district office. She hid the sign behind her back and told me I wasn't allowed to do that. I called the district office anyway and was told the district manager would call me within 24 hours. No such phone call. But the manager of the store did call and left a message: the SAME manager that had REFUSED to talk to me the day before because she was OFF DUTY! On the other hand, I went to the OTHER dollar general a mile away and received great customer service there! read more
