Customer service is bottom of the barrel when it comes to the corporate world. The ice bay has been empty on numerous occasions for as long as a week, when the across town store always has stock. On 100F+ summer days, it seems like a no-brainer to keep the bin filled. Long lines are standard, and I have never seen more than 1 checkout clerk whenever I visited. On my last visit, I waited 5-10 minutes, along with 4 other customers, while the manager rang up a customer and did balloon fill orders. The clerks work in slow motion and seem delighted when a customer leaves, lessening their work load. The manager seems bitter and uncaring. Processing a return is lengthy, and employees seem poorly trained with sarcastic comments. They win, because as a customer, I don't want a repeat visit; You need to have time to waste to shop here. This chain will likely only survive in poverty stricken areas where shopping choices are minimal for a survival mode budget. On the brighter side, I think the store would be an easy hire for someone desperate for some type of work, as the company service standards are so low.

Due to disability issues i filed a complaint with the better business bureau. Today that same manager closed the register we were waiting in line for & sent the clerk on a break. I declined to go to his register to avoid confrontation but he mentioned my BBB Complaint & rant & raved about his employee breaks. I don't care-I am a consumer. Sounds to me like some retaliation rage. What poor management. Prior to filing the BBB Complaint, I made several calls to the Corporate offices who said they were forwarding the complaint to the district office. Never heard a word from them. Not much priority in customers here, or consideration.

I put away the milk because I know that holiday sells it cheaper and they did because that's where I went after. I felt unrespected and I felt that they did not give us a pleasant feeling. I know how annoying it might be to have a customer last minute but they are in a customer service business and should be respectful. As I was walking out before they shut the door they did not say anything and gave me the dirty look. There was no good night or goodbye. That is just a common sense customer service greeting at the end of the day. The price there is not as great everything went up in price and of course we would say inflation but if you compare to another store the other place is cheaper and have better customer service. I would rather go to Holiday or the 99 Cents store. This experience makes me never want to step in that store again.

The store is much bigger, but noticed the shelfs are empty, just not much products food wise, or they just haven't stocked the store yet. I was waiting in line to be checked out, it was a long line, and a lot of people were in the store. I noticed there was only one person who was doing the register, who was very polite, but I could see she was noticing the same thing that everyone else was seeing. That the other employee was standing at the first register who was talking to another customer, it seemed that they knew each other, and they were talking about other employees from other stores. When reaching the counter, I told the woman at the register whose name tag said Rebecca that she needed help, she choice not to say anything, and thanked me for coming in. I could see it in her face that she was overwhelmed and a little upset due to the other employee just standing there and talking knowing full well that there was a long line. I well be trying to retrieve the other employees name and get ahold of Dollar General Corporate in regard to what I saw today. That is how Companys lose their best employees.

You wouldn't think a bargain discount grocery store would even sell Wagyu beef. My Grocery Outlet in Red Bluff is on the south end of town and since I was headed north to Redding, this location in Anderson about half way to Redding was a better choice. The GPS got me here just fine. It's right off the 5 freeway so easy freeway access. Take the Factory Outlet exit from the south, go thru the roundie boutie thingy and go under the freeway. It's on the left. The store is big and clean and seemed well organized. It was easy to find the meat area. I found they also have Kobe beef hamburger meat as well as the Wagyu I was looking for. The price was about half what fancy grocery stores or meat stores are selling ground Wagyu beef for. Checking the expiration dates, it was still good for 2 weeks, so that's all good. Check out was easy, they take all the normal credit cards. When I got to my friends place, we only used the Wagyu pack and made two 1/2 pound burgers out of the 1 pound pack. He grilled them on his gas grill and wow, I gotta say, I never had a Wagyu burger before, and this was just about the tastiest burger I ever had! I mean the meat was very beefy and charred perfect on the grill. The package didn't say what the meat to fat ration was, but it seemed about 20% fat to 80% meat, which is the best for making burgers. I'm sold on this meat for the low price, I'm stopping back and getting more and freeze some for later.
