At 42 years old, for the first time, I experienced something I've heard so many others speak about but had not personally encountered so directly--prejudice in plain sight. While checking out at Walmart using the self-checkout lane (around 10 PM, Thursday July 31), I--casually dressed, a doctoral candidate, married mother of three, U.S. Army veteran, career woman, and soon-to-be retiree after a lifetime of hard work--was approached by the attendant. Not to greet me like she had greeted all the other customers. Not to offer assistance. But to ask if I had scanned the box of diapers in my cart as a toy. No explanation. No polite inquiry. Just a direct, unfounded accusation. To be clear: * The writing on the diaper box was large and visible from her station. * She had spoken to every other customer around me--offering smiles, assistance, and casual conversation. * She had never acknowledged me once during my transaction... until it came time to question my integrity. This wasn't a mistake. It was about a bias--one so deeply ingrained that I was singled out despite every indication of honesty and decency. This is exactly how injustice persists. Quietly. Casually. But unmistakably. I was so pissed and offended that actually thought about making a scene there. I left it go and proceeded to leave. At that point I was greeted by really sweet greeter by the name of John. He was so polite that I decided to get in my truck and just come home to tell my husband about it. It's nearly 2AM and I can't seem to fall asleep because the incident is heavily weighing on my mind and I'm trying to figure out if I should've handled it on the spot to prevent anyone else like from experiencing the same thing.

Another pet peeve I have with Walmart is that there aren't enough handicap spots. Worse than that sometimes I see a number of car parked in handicap spots when they don't have a handicap permit. She seemed miffed due to another employee call her attention to wait on us. I asked for a can of shaving cream so she got it out but wouldn't give it to me. We were told that we could get it up front. We went on and picked up our other items and went to check out. She was waithing for us so I asked for the shaving cream. She would not let me have it and insisted that she had to ring it up herself. She did not ring any of our other items up but she stood right beside us as we checked out. I told her she was making us feel as though we were going to steal this shaving cream and she said the homeless people steal it and that was why it was locked up. My husband and I are in our seventies and are not homeless by any means. I was very insulted by her actions and statement. We felt that she thought was we would steal or she didn't like senior citizens. I was appalled that we were treated like that. I tried to reach the manager but was told he was there. I will not shop there ever again....

Seems like the local news is always talking of robberies, child abductions and even murders at this location. So that's always fun. A long time ago there was a wal mart at this location across from the mall. It was dirty and smaller but I loved it. Because nobody went here and they had stock on everything. They since ripped that down and left for about 5-10 years and then they built This new one. Which is nice and big. But the service, stock, people and workers all here make this location a "only come here as an absolute last resort" type situation. Overall I would recommend not coming to this location. There are 3 wal Marts well within ten miles of this location that have a smidge better service and definetly better stock.

But then remembered seeing a coupon for the sale price last week. I learned the hard way that you should always verify the sale price dates on the bottom left of the sale price sign. Of course the deal was over. Im wondering how many thought they were getting the salmon for the sale price and was unknowingly charged the regular price. Pretty standard super grocery store in the same vein as a Winn Dixie or the grocery side of a wal mart. They do require a Kroger plus card to get discounted prices. So that's kinda annoying. Just charge everyone the same price and be on with it. Especially since if you don't have one a worker or nearby customer will just let you use there. Anyways Thai particular location is a nicer one. Very spacious and very large. They do a. Good job on the upkeep of the store. They have decent sales items as most Kroger do (as long as you have the Kroger plus card). Overall not a bad location. Service here is solid. Lines can get long as there aren't too many grocery options in Shepherdsville but they do a good job on keeping the lines moving on my few trips here when in the area.

This is a very clean and nicely renovated cvs that is always well stocked and has friendly and personable workers. My daughters best friend lives near Thai location so they walk here a lot for food and snack trips and they like to shop in the cheaper jewelry and body sprays sections. Overall a really nice cvs. I was kinda surprised on a recent visit to see they have a solid bourbon selection too. So I'll keep that in mind in the future.
