I realize that businesses cannot hire more people than are actually needed on an everyday basis, and I also realize that today's employee is being asked to multi-task daily. It can be tedious, no doubt. HOWEVER, when I choose to give my business to a store there is one thing that I don't just expect, I require - that is someone at the checkout counter waiting for me to finalize my selection(s) and pay them. For whatever reason the self checkout has been disabled at this store so all the customers must rely on someone to be behind the counter when they wish to buy something. Twice in the past two weeks I have come into this particular Dollar General only to stand at the counter waiting for someone to come and take my money - which they never did. I left my selections on the counter and spent my money elsewhere - somewhere that shows they WANT my business by having a clerk behind the counter waiting to assist me. I am a business man - I own a business so I understand how hard today's retail world has become. However, this is unacceptable. read more
