The produce department is my favorite. Their lettuce and kale bunches are large, local and priced fairly. A great store for vegans/vegetarians! It is a little tight in there as it's not a large store but it is concentrated and laid out well. The staff is usually always friendly but as with any place, there are occasional exceptions. I'd recommend not shopping in the late afternoon as the traffic in that area gets pretty congested.

For sake of space I will make a long story short, I had a very traumatic miscarriage in the bathroom at the Waterville store when I was shopping with my 3 year old and 10 month old a few years ago, instead of immediately calling 911 (despite a neighboring stall screaming for help when they witnessed what was happening) they sent a young girl to help me. I explained to her that I was having a miscarriage and that I was concerned I was bleeding out (as I had had a previous previa with a prior pregnancy) and the bleeding wasn't stopping... she began panicking and handing me rolls of paper towels, I told her that the paper towels weren't working and she went and got 3 bath towels, which helped control the bleeding until my husband arrived to rush me to the hospital. While he ran to put the children in the car she brought me a wheelchair and she assured him we would be right behind him. Unfortunately instead of walking me out she instead BROUGHT ME TO A REGISTER bloodied and bleeding out TO CHECK ME OUT FOR THE TOWELS I HAD USED TO TRY TO STOP THE BLEEDING! I'll never forget handing her the credit card and seeing the blood on my hand and the card, as people stared at me wondering why I was covered in blood... At the time this happened I was going through enough with the miscarriage I didn't want to relive it to complain, but my mother who met me at the hospital was up in arms about it, she put in a call and never heard back... which shocked me, so when I was able I wrote to Walmart an email expressing my concern for future customers who have an emergency. I did not blame the young girl, I still don't, she tried her best, but I blame a lack of training and management. There was no way this girl was a manager of any sort, as I would hope anyone in a management level position would know to call 911 when someone was bleeding out, and that at the very least you don't bring a person who is on their way to the hospital to the cash register or delay care for any reason, much less to check out $5 bath towels they used to try to control bleeding and minimize others exposure to blood... my ultimate disappointment in the store and the company came when I too never got a response to my story/request for explanation on how this occurred. I can only hope they are now under new management, and that my story at least internally led to emergency training . I've attached a portion of my report for reference. I also have the gory emails and letters that I never heard back on.

I ended up having to call the Waterville PD for assistance in obtaining an acceptable receipt. The manager who was "helping" me was rude, sarcastic, and clearly unhappy with his employment situation. I warn all in everyone to stay away and pick literally any other supermarket or food shop that you can to meet your needs. steer clear of the store!

For example, once in a while I like to have salami sandwiches, and they sell a brand that is reasonably priced. This particular branch has many shelves of Amazon items that were not picked up or returned or something. Some of them are oddball items. I almost bought some Goya chicken bouillon that we use in soups, but upon closer inspection I noticed it had a secondary spice or flavor in it. I forget what, but not anything I want as a base for soup. Still I check the Amazon shelves just in case each time. They often also have good sales on meats. So while it is by no means one of my regular grocery haunts, I do stop by when I am in Waterville for some other reason.
