DO NOT RENT HERE. I reserved a car through Orbitz for $103 with all taxes and fees included. When my wife picked up the car she didn't notice that they added $40 in bogus fees (not "coverage", not "taxes"). These are things like "loss of use" and "tire and battery rec" etc. When I called them, they said it was too late to do anything about it because they had already "closed the books" on the rental. So, they add bogus fees and hope you won't notice. And they know that in a dark and remote parking lot, away from the airport terminal, at 2:00 AM after a long flight, you have no choice but to take the car. Zero customer service from pickup to drop of. Doors were locked upon arrival at 4AM even though that's what time I booked on my reservation form. When they finally opened the doors, they had an attitude. They tried to charge me for insurance because I didn't bring my insurance card from NY. Who carries their insurance card with them?? They also add a bunch of additional BS charges that I have never seen before. Upon drop off they acted like they were doing us a favor and obviously didn't want to be there. If I can save one person from making the big mistake of renting a car here then this is worth it. Carmen is the shadiest person you could ever do business with. This business has her working there knowing that she scams people with extra charges. They will not listen to your complaints as it is all a scam. Listen to all of these posts. They are 100 percent true and there are probably many more who don't report anything. First they will take at least 45-60 mins just to check you in. Every person in line has some sort of problem with Carmen. She has no customer service skills and is rude to her coworkers and customers. She will tell you they don't have the car you ordered online and then charge you more for a different car. After waiting 45 mins you get a car that isn't 100 percent clean. Whatever price you see online is not what you will pay when you get there. Also, it is at least 45 mins to return the car as Carmen who is incompetent and a thief is the only one working. Beware that if you are in line when your car is supposed to be turned in, this crook will try to charge you an extra hour. Also be sure to wash the car and vacuum before returning or this POS will charge you $100 cleaning fee as well. We are fighting these extra charges on our CC and will not be paying them. I was overall satisfied with my experience with my rental of a compact vehicle with Dollar. Because of the price compared to other options I would consider it again. The wait was more than 30 minutes for shuttle at airport. Read your reservation for what shuttle to look for. Once at the office the wait was close to an hour and I was the first off the shuttle. Only one representative serving a line. The price still made it worth it. I saved over $1000 on a two week rental. I had an early flight 6am. I would give this 0 stars if I could. The staff here are rude and dishonest, specifically Carmen who is the person I had the displeasure of working with. We originally rented from Dollar because it offered the cheapest rates. We did our reservation through Booking, which assured us that all fees and taxes were included in the payment we made. However, after we came to pick up the car, Carmen charged us additional "required' fees that doubled the price of our rental. She also charged us for additional insurance and "emergency roadside assistance" although we told her 3 TIMES that we did not want it (as it voids your credit card insurance!). This was charged as "SL1" and "ERA" on the bill, so that you could not easily identify that you are being ripped off! She was rude, and clearly took advantage of the fact that the person she was renting to did not speak Spanish. We originally paid $214 for the rental. We ended up paying an additional $371 at pick-up. After all the fees and taxes they charged us, the price of the rental came out to more expensive than renting from another company. My friend and I rented a vehicle for four nights, and I was extremely displeased with the service we received from this location. We landed at around 1 am and to my understanding we were paying around $90 to rent a vehicle, which was fine. When we arrived at Dollar Rental there was a woman with her child discussing false information about renting a vehicle, but I didn't pay any mind to it, until I heard the attendant say there's a 11% tax. I quickly told my friend because I'm sure she didn't understand because it was discussed in spanish. She then told me she booked it online and that wasn't discussed. After waiting about 15 min, it was finally our turn. And sure enough, as I expected, she began to explain to my friend that it's going to be $120 because of the tax. As my friend began to explain that her confirmation email didn't state that, the attendant started yelling and wouldn't even let my friend explain herself. She was being very rude and defensive, making it obvious this isn't the first time this has happened. She then said, "well you know what you can either take it or leave it". Very unprofessional, not to mention, there was other people around and with children. But wait, that's not all. Then the attendant said there was a $200 deposit to take the vehicle. It is understandable that there is a deposit needed, but why the failure to mention this prior to confirming a certain aggreement? We finally agreed because in reality, we had no other choice. When we finally leave to go to our vehicle, she hands us an SUV. That was my breaking point. We have to return the car with a full tank of gas because if not there is a fee, and the purpose of renting a small car was because it would be cheaper on gas and it was only us two. She tells me she is giving me a bigger car for the same price. That's not the point! We agreed on a 4 cylinder gas and a small car, not an SUV! She rudely just walked away from me when I told her and said she doesn't have any other small cars, another thing that was not my problem, but the company's. It wasn't until the guy who drove us from the airport told me it is a 4 cylinder, just a slightly larger tank. I was like "are your sure it's not an 8 cylinder because it's an SUV?". If I could give them negative ratings I would. DOLLAR rent a car in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico (near Rafeal Hernandez international airport). I got quoted a price via a third party service (priceline). When I got to place they quickly had me sign the tablet to verify my rental and to verify the condition of the car. I hadn't even seen the car yet. Once you sign it, you get an email with pictures of the car. Do not sign until you see the car and even look/smell inside. The car smelled of urine. Since I had purchased the insurance with the third party company and I also had my own insurance, they now, say they need my insurance "declaration page". I had my insurance card and info but they insisted on the DP. They wanted to see how much my deductable was and then proceeded to put that on hold. Remember I signed the tablet, well that started the clock even though I ended up getting the car 1 hour later. Who carries their Ins DP? Well, since they did not want to share an internet password, my phone did not work so the ins co tried texting and emailing the DP, I had to get it faxed. Mind you, the dumbass took care of other customers and left me hanging there (all this time was already being considered my rental time). Then they hit me with $160 more in charges for "...in the event that the tires get damaged, in the event that they are out of a car for car repairs that might happen, in the event there are glass repair charges!!! Since they started the clock at one hour, when I hit traffic getting back and was late 45 minutes, they charged me an entire day (crazy "in the event" charges included). I've never experienced this with Budget and or Enterprise. I called DOLLAR HQ customer service and they said that DOLLAR car rental is a franchise and although there are guidelines, I had to deal with this location directly. I booked a rent a car for 4 days with this establishment, and I am completely disgusted with the false advertisement and how unprofessional the woman in the office behaved. I arrived to Dollar Rent A Car at about 1:30 AM to pick up my car. At first everything seemed to be going smoothly, but it quickly took a turn. Number one, the total i agreed to pay was roughly $89, which i was told what the final rental cost would be upon arrival. However, this woman said the total was roughly $117, and i asked why? That in my email it clearly states, final price was $89. She raised her voice, and rudely said "No, that is an estimated price based on estimated tax." I said I am not paying that, that the $89 price is what i was told and agreed to pay for online, as i began to show her my confirmation email she started yelling and saying, "NO that is the price of the car, this is an estimated tax and it is 11.5 tax. this is the price you pay for car". I am not going to lie, I started yelling back stating, excuse me mam but what i signed for and agreed for online is not what youre telling me. also when is there an estimated tax or 11.5 percentage?". she then began to say "I always tell people this and this is what they have to pay when they come in". It then clicked in my head, that shes had this issue before, that other people have showed up thinking one price was what they would pay and then when they get to the office--they are told about this absurd increase in pay. This also explains why she was so loud, rude, and defensive. As this is happening, there are two other families inside of there with children watching. I eventually said, "Fine, i guess i will pay but that is false advertisement and rediculous" As she then continues to bang her fingers loudly on the keyboard and huff and puff, she then says "The Deposit is $200". I said excuse me? There was no where in my confirmation stating a $200 deposit, i am not paying that. this is nuts, i was not informed about that--she then begins to yell again, and tell me that a $200 deposit is needed or i can not take the car. i begain to explain again, no where in my email does it say that--as i try to show her the email, she pushes away my phone and wont even look at it. And then she tells me no cash is excepted, another issue that was not stated in the booking details at all. And lastly, we go outside to get the car, and theres an SUV. we did not rent an SUV, i rented a small car since it was just 2 people and small amount of driving that we would actually do..i think say to the woman, NO i did not rent an SUV. she then yells at me and my friend that she is giving us the SUV for the same price as the small car, that this is all she has. I then begin to say, that doesnt matter--i ordered and was promised a small car for a reason , i do not want to pay extra for all of the gas. as we began to go back and forth, she just ends up turning around and walking inside. Luckily, the young man who worked there reassured us that the SUV is a 4 cyclinder car like the small one i originally ordered and not to worry that the gas would be the same. Over all, I think this woman is rude and handled the situation wrongly. Also, there was never mention of a deposit needed, that this place was not accepting cash, and the fact that the price i agreed to pay online was not the final price. I was told via my confirmation that $89 would be due when i pick up the car, but not a random extra tax would be thrown onto us. As if they were doing me a favor, what kind of business is this. I am sorry but no one who actually has a good running business pays more than half of your "rightfully" earned penalty, they are just stealing from you. If you are like me when renting a car you just go on to one of the travel search engines and choose the least expensive option. For the most part this has served me well however if it comes down to only a few dollars I would not recommend using Dollar Rent A Car at the Aguadilla (Rafael Hernandez) airport. 1. They are at a remote location at the airport. This means you have to wait for the van and most likely all the other renters before heading out to the location. 80% of the other car rental agencies are right there when you walk out of baggage claim and the vehicles are a short walk outside. You will spend an extra 20-30 minutes of your precious time both picking up the vehicle and droping it off. 2. There is only one agent and the registering process is EXTREMELLY slow. I would imagine this is because it is a Dollar franchise and they do not have there act together. Extra 30+ minutes waiting in line. 3. I have rented from several of the other agencies at the Aguadilla airport and Dollar is the first to ask for a $500 dollar hold on your credit or debit card. They also take an old school imprint of your card. Usually if you have a credit card car rental agencies do not do this. This idea of a 500 hold is usually reserved for the no credit card renter. This whole process does not sit well with me. I do not like having an imprint of my card out there for dishonest individuals to find and I dont like having to wait a few days after I renturn the car for the hold to be released or returned. read more

Rented a car for my 20-year old daughter for her trip to Rincon. There was some confusion about the reservation, that I rectified​ immediately at 2:00 am in the morning after my daughter and her friends had already been waiting an hour, however, they refused to give her a car due to her age unless she could provide proof of insurance, which I had and could easily send over via email or screenshot​ to my daughter​​r, but they claimed it needed to be faxed directly from our insurance​ company, which​ was obviously​​y impossible at 2:00 am in the morning. Basically,​ they were willing to strand my daughter and her friends at the airport. I had the girls ttake​a $50 cab ride to their destination. ​I called Dollar Rental ​the next day to politely ask if I had our insurance​ company fax them the documentation​, would they give her a car. The staff member stated that they no longer had cars available. Essentially​, some how between 2:00 am and 8:00 am the same day all the cars were booked. To me, that was code for "go pound sand". Customer service was atrocious. She talks over the customer and repeats herself as if she is talking to children. They also fail to mention the additional monies for the ez pass otherwise you will be fined an additional $150. Rent a car through travelocity for $247.00, when I got there it was like $325.00 +$200.00 dollars deposit. Had a midsize car and they gave a Kia Soul. I couldn't hardly fit 2 small luggage that we had. Got the car and it was making a weird noise. Anyway, like 2 days later, I look at the tire in the back and it was bold on one side. I called them and they told me to go get another car. And that, they should've never gave that car. It was 2:00 am when I rented that car. AVOID at all costs. CARMEN is a monster!!!! The second I arrived she looked at my paper work shoved it back at me and said NO! There is customer service for you! When I broke down into tears because I need the car and it was 2am. She was a horrible person, She did everything she could to not rent me a car. Why would a company do business like this????? I see I am not the only one. I got a flat tire and I called in to see what to do. The person at the desk said to get the new tire and then save the recipt. When I returned the car they refused to pay for the NEW TIRE ON THEIR CAR. This company has so many bad employees that the problem is systemic. Read the reviews YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF. its just a matter of how much. The owner is in SAN JUAN. He has no idea how terrible this office is. His head must be in the sand to let people who treat customers like this continue to work for them, These women are pure evil!!! read more

please be aware with dollar car rental they take 20 minutes to pick you up from airport even though they are 2 minutes away not very helful at counter the price online is no way near at what you paid. read more

I had the worst experience while renting the car at Dollar Rental Car in Aguadilla. I brought with me the voucher and driver license requested by the Internet company that I used for the rental, but the lady in the counter told me that, because they don't have computer system at that moment, they need to see the price I paid for the car. As an alternative, she told me that I have to pay their regular price or I had the choice to go to another rental car company. It was only when I asked her to call San Juan office, where I would deliver the car, that she made a call but with a very disappointed face. Finally, they gave me a car that smell really bad and was not cleaned at all. I returned it and they gave me another one that smelled less than the other and was not cleaned neither. I spoke with a very helpful gentleman outside the office, whom I believe is in charge of the cars maintenance, and he cleaned one for me. Furthermore, the place where I had to return the car is not at the San Juan airport and is very difficult to find through GPS. I will never use this company again and do not recommend it neither. read more

One star is too many for this place. I basically had the same experience as Sarah C had. I wish I had seen this review before I went here. I was quoted $198 thru orbitz get there and the lady (super rude), informs me I have to get an ez pass for an additional $4 a day (mind you I was staying in PR 11 days). I told her I probably won't need it that much. The year before I had rented a car and they charged me only for the tolls I used. We go back & forth its 1:30am I give in and say wtf. She proceed to tell me my total now is $310.. What?! I tell her and show her what I was quoted on orbitz $198 and she tells me that's just an estimated. "Lady this is not the first time I rent a car" I tell I come to PR every year for the past 10 years and never have I had someone tell me prices quoted are estimates. I make sure it says taxes and fees are included. I finally give up, what other options do I have? She gives me a piece crap Kia and it was dirty. Ok 2 days later I was stranded in the poblado took an hour to find someone to jump me. I considered calling but the lady I dealt was was so nasty I didn't bother. Guess what? 2 days later again the battery is dead this time I was in crash boat. I was close enough to this location so I call and the same lady picks up I tell her my issue she tells me to bring the car in for exchange. I find someone to jump me AGAIN. Drive there, when I get there the same lady is in a separate office with glass window she could see but there was another woman at the counter. I go to counter and tell my issue and she tells what you can't exchange it? but the other lady yelled "it's fine she called". I guess they normally don't exchange cars even when there's an issue. She turns to me and ask me "is the tank full?" I'm like are you serious? Do you think I was going to stop at the gas station on my way here and risk having to jump the car? Ok back and forth we go again. I say fine I'll go fill it up. When I come back she goes and inspects and talks to lady in the office. The lady in office leaves and comes back to tell I had sand in the car and usually there's an extra charge for it. I really can't beleive how rude these ladies are being to me. I was stranded twice! They finally gave me another crappy rio Kia. Also not once were they apologetic for the fact that the car they gave me had a faulty battery. Not once were they sorry for the inconvenience. I was dreading returning this car but thankfully when I went to return it I got a nice guy to inspect it and drive me to the airport without any issue. Bottom line don't rent from here they are thieves. I would never use them or orbitz to rent a car because after I returned I called orbitz to complain and the man who answered the phone was just as helpful as the lady from the rental. First and last time using them. Anyone considering using Dollar at aguadilla you've been warned. DO NOT USE THEM!!! read more
