Instead, I was met with total disappointment and lack of accountability. I reserved a Full-Size SUV weeks in advance for a critical task: transporting athletes for the Olympic Committee. Upon arrival, I was told the branch was sitting at negative nine (-9) cars. How a rental hub manages to overbook to that extent is mind-boggling. The "solutions" offered were insulting: * Zero Accountability: I was told a customer support manager would call me to resolve the situation. I was there almost a week. Surprise--nobody ever called. * Passing the Buck: The staff literally told me to go check with Avis. Avis (rightfully) quoted a Suburban at $400 a day because of the last-minute nature of the request. * Financial Drain: Because National failed to honor a high-tier reservation, I had to shell out roughly $200 a day in Ubers just to get my athletes to their venues on time. Despite my status and the clear professional stakes involved, the staff offered absolutely nothing to mitigate the disaster they created. No voucher, no shuttle assistance, no effort. I have to return to Gainesville in two weeks, and I can say with certainty that I will never step foot in this National location again. They clearly don't value their "highest-status" members or basic professional reliability. Avoid this location at all costs if you actually need a car to be there when you arrive.

But for the number of times I have rented from them the ratio is low. And the way they handled any problems I've had has been outstanding which in the end goes a long way with me. I know everyone at this location and they are all very polite and accommodating. Need a bigger car than you originally thought, they will help you with that. They have the best prices in town and do not nickel and dime you like the other car rental companies here at the airport. All budget locations are speedy and give good service. Want to make things faster and get rewards? Sign up for Fastbreak online. It shoot ls you ahead of the line (except in gville because it's such a small location). You also have the majority of your info on file so it cuts down on on all the paperwork. If you travel a lot then they have the best rewards! I get tons of rental certificates which adds up to free rentals when I'm on vacation...BONUS!!!! Also, the manager that runs this region (gville to jax) is also very helpful and will go the extra mile to remedy any problems and make sure you always have a positive experience. I had not reserved with Hertz - it was an Alamo reservation that fell through because they did not have any cars despite the reservation - so ended up renting from them at the desk. Kelly was so helpful! She found us a car of the size we liked and then patiently entered discount code after discount code for us to give us the best rate. We checked our UF Alumni discount, our United MileagePlus, our AAA membership, etc. and at no point did she complain. Instead, with a smile on her face she kept entering code after code, until we got a rate we were ok with. Will happily rent from her again!

Ridiculous because they had me send them a copy of the reservation confirmation and it clearly shows the lower total and no coverages. They are dishonest AND incompetent. Great combination. Not that you have any better options at GNV but just know going in what to expect and protect yourself accordingly. Also be sure to do before and after videos and photos of your rental so they can't claim extra charges for take damage or that you didn't return it with a full tank. They're even reachable by phone, which can't be taken for granted these days. The only downside relative to other car rental options in Gainesville is the University Ave location. Traffic is brutal, and access to the Enterprise parking lot can be difficult. I suggest planning to arrive 15 minutes before your reservation time, because if you miss the turn into the lot, it can be awkward and time-consuming to come back to it. That said, the superior customer service and cleaner than usual rental vehicles make the drive into downtown Gainesville worthwhile. Traveling is stressful, and dealing with good people makes it easier.

They said I would need to wait up to an hour for cars to come from other Enterprise locations. Here's what they did to make me whole though, listed me as starting with an empty tank, gave me a 12-passenger Mercedes van that had car play, heated seats and a very powerful A/C system. Oh and they don't usually shuttle, but because I was so gracious about them not having my rental car the manager drive me herself 7 minutes to where my car was done being worked on at the body shop. I realized I needed to return it a day earlier than I had planned because of a pre scheduled flight I had the day of, in another city. Due to the prepay option, I would not be refunded for the extra day. I tried contacting customer service to either take off the extra day or to cancel and rebook. The first rep I spoke with was not very nice and told me there's nothing he could do and I would just have to return it early and hope that the shop would refund me. When I tried to explain that the policy told me that I wouldn't be refunded due to prepaying he repeated that he could not help me and then ended the chat. The second rep I got was even ruder than the first and had a nasty attitude the whole time. I was asking for help trying to figure out a way to cancel or change the schedule and she repeated "there's nothing I can do on my end" and instead of trying to assist me with options to change it she started getting irritated with me as I was trying to ask questions the figure out what I should do and also ended the chat on me. I finally found a way to cancel my rental hours later and I will say, I will NEVER be doing business with Hertz Again. It's a shame because I got automatic gold status with my credit card and I was excited to start using this company. Maybe try hiring more pleasant staff and setting a service standard. According to reviews this is a common theme with this company.
