This is the best Enterprise location in the Gainesville area. The staff is friendly, professional, and responsive to questions. They're even reachable by phone, which can't be taken for granted these days. The only downside relative to other car rental options in Gainesville is the University Ave location. Traffic is brutal, and access to the Enterprise parking lot can be difficult. I suggest planning to arrive 15 minutes before your reservation time, because if you miss the turn into the lot, it can be awkward and time-consuming to come back to it. That said, the superior customer service and cleaner than usual rental vehicles make the drive into downtown Gainesville worthwhile. One of the worst places to rent a car. Denied my application after proving that my bills were being paid. Also, the man who I spoke, as seen in the picture attached, did NOT let me rent a car because he didn't believe I was the only person that was going to drive the car, even though is my full responsibility. He said: "im using my best judgment". In addition they though I was not a US citizens because of my accent and that was another unacceptable reason. I cannot rave enough about this local Enterprise! My coworkers and I are quite loyal to this branch, as we have always experienced nothing but wonderful customer service! The manager, Winston, is so sweet and accommodating! Just the other day, I was driving on a back road and the car started to tell me that a battery was dying!! You can imagine how nervous I was! I called Winston and let him know that I could not understand what particular battery was dying, but I wanted to call it in. He immediately called the manufacturer HQ to get clarification, which was thought to be that the key fob for this Push to Start car was dying and could actually leave me locked out of the car, unable to use it. Winston took my cell number and made sure that I made it back in safely, and gave me a new car right away with no fuss! I booked an SUV online three days prior to the need (the vehicle was available. I received a call the next day that an SUV is not available but we can book for a minivan. I say sure to the minivan and my preference is still the SUV. I Uber'ed to pick up the vehicle. The reps there on that day, made statements of "we called and you were unable to be reached", "you see my lot is empty, I don't have a vehicle available", "did you speak to one of us on the phone?". I don't work for enterprise, so would not know how your lot is supposed to look nor would I know who I spoke to on a random call while I myself was at work. I did indeed receive a call that day after booking and it was noted on my call log. The reps stated multiple times, someone called and I was reached. Then after a while, "someone spoke to you and told you to call back to confirm the minivan". So I guess the random notes became visible to them after the back and forth and blame placed on me for not answering my phone and having no voicemail (though they stated they do leave voicemails). I was not told to call back and confirm the van. I ended up with no rental and having to purchase a return Uber. read more

Mostly good interactions with this location and this branch! I have rented a few times for work and have had a pretty pleasant time! Jacqueline who I believe is one of the managers does an amazing job at keeping people smiling and providing the great customer service that Enterprise is known for. I have been in the location many times and people complain that they cannot use a debit card or cannot pay with cash, but these cars are expensive and need collateral and that is what a major credit card gives. I have worked with two companies that have had contracts with Enterprise and they are always fast and reliable and get the job done. At my most recent experience, I have had issues with my bill and they are quick to fix these issues. Also, they provide pick up and drop off. They NEVER answer the phone! I have called numerous times letting the phone ring for extended periods. Not once did anyone pickup. I believe the ringer may be turned off or simply ignored This caused much frustration as I had to correct a billing problem that could have been addressed on the phone. Instead I had to drive back out to the airport, during COVID restrictions and get my issue resolved. If the company is using COVID issues as the cause for this problem, it might actually be addressed by forwarding calls to someone working from home. Unhappy read more

HAVE A BACK UP PLAN University location Gainesville, FL It's not often that I write a bad review. I'm attaching my reservation confirmation indicating that I had a car reserved for work related travel this past Friday at 3:30 pm. They called me from the store an hour before my pick up time to tell me that they had over booked and that they did not have a car for me. They said they had called all the other local stores to try to find a car but all the locations were out of cars. Do young woman cheerfully told me I was on a waiting list and if a vehicle came available they would call me back. A sensually a reservation with a written email confirmation means nothing at this particular enterprise location. I was forced to go elsewhere to get a rental car at the last minute and ended up leaving for my trip three hours later than I was scheduled. Truly excellent service from Enterprise Rental Car on West University. I took my car in for some minor damage repair, and my insurance company, USAA (which is ABSOLUTELY the best in the business) arranged for a car through Enterprise. The repair shop called Enterprise for me, and I was amazed at how quickly the picked me up. Checking out the car went very quickly, and the counter attendant, Josh????, could not have been friendlier or more helpful. This is the worse car rental location ever. Even though they do not have cars available they still allow you to "reserve" a car. Once you get there, they do not have the car and you are out of luck. They don't even help you find other cars at other locations near by nor do they then offer to drive you back. Winston Williams, the Branch Manager at this location advised me that they use what he calls a "triage" process when providing cars. It involves you renting a car on line and then when you show up, the people that rented the earliest get the cars, the rest are out of luck. When I called their corporate offices they assured me that this was not acceptable and that someone would be contacting me ASAP to make this right. No one ever did. Had regional management reach out regarding my initial review about the rental reservation debacle at the end of July. The manager heard the story and offered to try to make it up somehow. It so happened my wife had an upcoming event in Miami and was renting a car for the duration. A reservation was made on the spot and Enterprise offered to cover one of the rental days, so my wife would only have to pay for 3. Upon arrival the morning of, after the paperwork was completed, she was asked to wait a few minutes until her car was readied. She was offered a Toyota Corolla, which I guess meets criteria for a standard size car. However, the cloth seats were filthy, I mean disgusting dirty, so she asked to be switched to another car. At this time she got an apology and was offered a compact Dodge, which was at least clean inside. Vehicle walk-around was done and off she went to the Magic City. Fast forward to the third day of the rental and I get a distress call from her saying she walked out of a meeting and noticed one of the front tires was about flat and was asking me what to do. I, being a good 300 miles away and unable to change the spare, suggested she call Enterprise in Miami and see what they can do to help. BTW, she's never changed a flat, ever. Anyway, a AAA truck was dispatched by Enterprise for an additional $50, there went the complementary day... 3 hours later she was in another car for the last leg of the trip. Overall, I'll say Enterprise gets a gentleman's B for trying. However, although a nice effort the whole experience just left a weird aftertaste. Anyway, maybe I am just too old school expecting the best consumer experience. Extremely dissatisfied. I rented a vehicle and when they brought it out it was dirty inside. They offered to clean it but after waiting a long time I could not wait any longer. I specifically asked if the car had been smoked in and they said no that there cars weren't permitted to be smoked in. But it stunk like cigarettes. I had to park it and idea family members vehicle so that I did not have to smell the smoke. I will NOT use Enterprise again as well as let other colieges know of my disappointment. read more

It was really pleasant experience every time I rent a car from this location (I have rented several times). The associates here are professional and they value each and every customer. Unbeatable location: The branch is located in the heart of the Town and it is very close to downtown and the University of Florida campus. Good Price: most of the occasions, the rental price from this location is significantly less than that of other locations and other rental companies. Specially the weekend prices are cheap. One note. This location is small and there is not much parking place, hence capacity is limited. To get a car you have to book at least 24 hours before. One may not get a car if someone just walks in and ask for it without prior reservation. Also, as it is popular location, it can get crowded and one may have to wait to get a car (they generally bring cars from other locations in the city if they ran out of cars in a busy day, like Friday afternoon). So, it is good to call them at least an hour before to confirm your reservation and at the same time to remind them to get your car ready for your pickup. people work there are extremely helpful and they try their best to keep the customers happy. :) read more

They have always been very real with me, even when they had to turn me away due to lack of availability. Given the small lot they have, they do a great job of getting you a car as quickly as possible, whenever possible. It's also a much more convenient and pleasant location than the airport or Williston Road. I often rent a car at busy times for them, and am amazed at how quickly they get through a line of people with relatively few staff on-hand. I use my debit card to rent cars, and this is one of the few places that has always consistently been straight with me about their debit card policies and explained them in a way that doesn't make me feel like I am talking to a corporate robot. read more

Made a reservation for my sister on Friday morning, received a confirmation number and all. My sister contact the West University location spoke with the manager, he told her she could pick the car up at 1:00, granted the reservation was for 10:30 am. So I called and talked to the manager, he was rude, outspoken, talking over me, could barely get a word in. Told me he has others that has to travel to Tampa or Orlando and have flights that he was going to take care of them first, because he didn't want them to miss their flight and rudely placed me on hold. First of all, he did not know why we were renting the car, for all he know, we could have been traveling out of town as well, but that is beside the point, if you confirm a reservation with a confirmation number, it should be honored and you should not be rude to your customer. Granted, this is the manager.... So what does this say for this business, if the head act like this, how can you tell those you are supervising what to do. I can understand being busy, but that is not excuse for being rude. My sister went to the 39th Avenue location and the young lady there was more than happy to help. Awesome experience. I have used them on several occasions. The most recent rental came after my car was in an accident and I had the rental while it was being fixed. They picked me up from the body shop, gave me a rental for 2 weeks and dropped me off at the body shop to pick up my car. No hassles, no waiting, a very easy experience!
