There is a strange phenomenon in small towns across the US. Whereas Family Dollar is a sort of…read moresideshow is large metros, they seem to be a mainstay and main attractions in smaller areas. Such is the case with Family Dollar here in La Verkin. Now, this town is close enough to the massive strip malls of St. George and even the off-highway finds of say, Hurricane, but out here where you are about to leave I-15 and go to Springdale, it's nestled next to a gas station and serves as a midway step between convenience store, dollar store, and grocery store. When we couldn't find birthday candles for an impromptu b-day celebration for a friend at the Maverik, we were told to head next door to Family Dollar. Sure as shootin', they had them. And cheap. This was a one-person show, so that wasn't ideal and service can be sticky that way. But with "How Hiring" signs all over the front and inside of the store, methinks they are trying to address it. Candles acquired, b-day made, much rejoicing thanks to the more handy than usual Family Dollar in the town of La Verkin.

Maybe they're not from here and didn't realize they were in the desert and its 110 degrees in summer IDK.) Their inventory has expanded from the winter too but the pricing is kinda off the wall now, like the same prices as stores for long-expired stuff, but there are still some deals, you just have to poke around more. Prices seem to change on a whim now too, like literally from day to day. Glad it's still standing for now though, much-needed resource right here since Kmart closed down and you've got nothing for basic foods/snacks but Maverik in walking distance.

This is a bargain store offering impressively discounted prices on grocery, household cleaning, and some seasonal items. It appears most items are close to or past their "best use by" dates but still eatable/useable. Many items here are as good or better than you can get elsewhere, but at substantial savings. Biggest issue at this location is parking. It's laid out poorly and is very lacking at the front of the store. Many park along the north side access drive that goes to more parking. This creates pinch points and leads to confrontation between patrons. See it almost every time I visit. Signs and red curbs for no parking might help. Otherwise it's a good little store.

I'm not actually from Utah and so I don't know exactly what it was before but from what I saw them bringing in and from the amazing sales, I was able to take advantage of I can't recommend this place enough! There was a great selection of high-end brands. There was also a great furniture selection at really reasonable prices and I honestly had to ask them if they shipped to outside Utah places because I was so interested as someone from not anywhere near the area, I wanted to buy multiple pieces.
