There are a few staff roaming the stores, though a little hard to tell who is staff and who isn't because the checkouts are self-serve and the staff that you could tell were staff were talking amongst themselves in the aisles both days (I went the day before Halloween and then back on Halloween to buy cute little candy bags). Some of the items are quality and a great value while others are poor quality and with the tariffs definitely not worth the new price point. At their lower price some of the items may have been worth it but definitely pick and choose. Still worth browsing around to see what you might find. The Japanese have so many wonderful knick-knacks and really just gives every little thing a home so check here before you check Amazon lol.

I would think there would be major issues with dollar-store baby items and tools (I took a look at one of the hammers, but I'm certian it wouldn't hold together). I can see using this store for the giftwrap/cards and to pick up some plastic bags every now and then, but I don't think it will be around that long anyway. Too small, too out of the way, not enough selection to compete with the larger and more varied Dollar Tree over by Super Target. Staff (one young man) was very friendly, however.

Take gifts. No, this is NOT a good choice for a milestone anniversary. However, it's a wonderful place for stocking stuffers, rewards/bribes for the kiddos, or swag/goodie bags. There are all kinds of things, from books to toys to arts and crafts to decor. You can find snacks and beverages (alas, oftentimes a bit more expensive than they'd be at the Target next door). You can find some very inexpensive beauty products. There are action figures and collectibles and even a handful of accessories for your electronics. Nothing is super high quality, but it will get the job done. Now, for the "what you need" part. This is my go-to place for inexpensive sunglasses. They have some of the CUTEST sunglasses ever here: from statement shades to classic shapes, you can absolutely find something to match your style. They're inexpensive enough that you can buy multiple pairs but sturdy enough that they'll last you at least through the summer (as long as you're not extra accident-prone). Additionally, they have fun lanyards for your work badge or student ID--again, you'll find something to fit your style, whether you want something neutral, playful, or statement. The service is always friendly here, too.

Grocery Outlet is a large chain in California that is similar to Mike's -- they're a discount opportunistic grocery that sells items close to expiration/are being discontinued. When we moved back to Minnesota, we were very sad to not have Grocery Outlet anymore. But then, we found Mike's. Mike's is amazing. I'd argue it's even better than Grocery Outlet, and miles above any average grocery store in the cities. The primary draw to Mike's is the pricing -- things are very cheap compared to other grocers. This is possible because they don't have a broad selection and stock items that are close to expiration or being discontinued. It's not uncommon to find things that didn't sell at other stores here. The downside is that they rarely have consistent stock. However, if you have an open mind, you won't be disappointed. There are snacks, frozen items, household goods and even clothes that are very cheap. Lastly, the staff are all very kind and do their best to help. Go here!!!!

The prices are also so low you really can't go wrong. The best deal I ever came across here was 12 dozen eggs and 12 pounds of bacon for $50. My Roommate and I split this and it was so worth it. The cereals, crackers, etc are kind of a hit or a miss all depending on what they have in. The paper goods and household type products are similar to big box stores as far as price so I tend to bypass that area. The whole store is worth going through because you can find some hidden deals. Also I recommend liking their Facebook page so you can stay up to date on the current deals and promotions.

I was delighted to discover that they have a respectable selection of stationery, including cute notebooks, fun puzzle erasers, and even a few fun sticky notes.
