I love them because you can always find them throughout the city which makes it slightly more convenient to find more than a Walmart or Target. I tend to purchase the typical hygiene & cleaning items at Family Dollar locations, such as shaving cream, deodorant, hair grease, soap, mean green, bleach, etc. I have even purchased food items at Family Dollar locations which it carries the basics, but nowhere near as much as a Walmart. As for this location, it's convenient to me because I live right down the street from it. I can always find simple things to cook, plus the hygiene items that I lack which all are at affordable prices. However, what annoys me about this location are the panhandlers, plus the "blue square" (Newport Cigarette) sellers that are always in the parking lot which I do not even make eye contact with while heading in the store. This store is a huge plus for the East Garfield Neighborhood because there are so many things that the neighborhood lacks, but at least there is a Family Dollar in the neighborhood and from what I see it is relatively new. No complaints on my end, I'am always greeted once I enter and I always have been treated with respect as a customer, plus things are always organized when I shop here. Thomas G

However, the same issues still exist. They never have anything on the shelves....Never. Every time I come in, there are piles and piles of boxes in the aisle. I assume they are always in the process of stocking the shelves, but never really complete the task. Also, all the brands that I buy are behind the cash register. It's so annoying that I can't enjoy smelling the different scents of Dove soap. Family Dollar is great because it almost gives you the luxury of shopping in like a Target or Wal-Mart without having to leave your neighborhood. It also gives you that dollar store experience. Overall, it's great to have this store in a low income neighborhood, because it allows the neighbors to purchase items to clean their homes. However, it's hard shopping there sometimes.

It has its own chill vibe, and it feels much more spacious and open. I went tonight, which is the last night and it closes tomorrow afternoon. Everyone at the all the booths are very kind and provide excellent service. The ice skating rink and huge Christmas tree are so festive. Great ambiance. I finally got a Bob's hot chocolate, which is amazing. The lines were always so long at the market in the Loop and I'm happy I finally got to try the fabulous homemade whipped cream, and the cookie with it was awesome too. My boyfriend's curry wurst was sooooo good, and served on top of a deliciously warm Hungarian bread. I was thrilled that I didn't have to wait at all for my favorite Raclette sandwich. This time I got it with ham. Excellent as always. We also stopped by a croissant shop and had Dubai chocolate covered croissants. Wow!! I stopped by my favorite alpaca booth for socks. Now I am all set with a hat, gloves, scarf, and socks from them (Winterborn Alpaca.) I believe I heard it's a family in Ecuador that makes all these amazing, high quality things that are keeping me warm this winter. I'm grateful this market stays open until December 31. Parking isn't cheap here but with validation it isn't super unreasonable either. The shop selection definitely leans towards more fun activities like movies, cafes, higher end shopping, furniture, jewelery, and higher end restaurants. In particular, the only Canadian based Earls location in Chicago is located here. With nice landscaping, wide roads, places to sit around, plenty of parking, and nice looking exteriors to the shops, this is really a nice area to hang out and relax in a spot that feels more like a suburban shopping center. This will be a place I definitely come back to in the future when hanging out with friends in the area.

Sometimes they're "simply having a bad day". Sometimes they want their "bad day" to be your "bad day". That's this Target store. Everyone else's bad day is all of a sudden your bad day. This being a small-footprint Target store, the foot traffic is going to be hyperlocal. The neighborhood is extremely unpleasant, and Chicago is one of those places where instead of selling a townhome for a loss, they'll simply leave it empty for their friends to stay in until the market rebounds. A lot of people go to Target for retail therapy. Unless your bad day is worse than their bad day, they'll make your bad day even worse.

Is there anything better than shopping at Target!? I am so happy a mini-Target opened so close to my home. It's much smaller than a normal Target not having things like clothing or house decor, but it has food items & personal care items plus a smattering of other random things. On my last visit I bought lemons & strawberries (the selection was fresh), heavy cream, milk (they had a ton of varieties), body wash, toothpaste, and cheese. So you can get anything you need here really. Employees are all insanely nice & helpful - this may be because it's still such a new Target! But right now, I'm loving it. The registers are all self check-out with one normal register each time I've gone in, but they are mostly there to help with self check out. Easy, breezy experiences every time I've gone here. A mini-Target within walking distance is a dream for me!

I asked for…read more$40 cash back, which the card reader clearly stated was available, but Mariela flat-out lied and told me I could only get $20. Even after checking the register and seeing that she had enough cash, she still refused to give me the amount I was entitled to. I detest liars, and Mariela's dishonesty and terrible customer service made this an infuriating visit. To make things worse, I've seen other shoppers casually walk in, take products off the shelves, and walk right out without paying--while the employees did nothing to stop them. It's ridiculous that CVS has no problem letting theft happen in plain sight but won't provide proper service to paying customers. CVS needs to get its act together, and Mariela needs serious training in honesty and professionalism.
