They have a lot of items for super cheap. While the stuff is all used and pretty well loved, it all seemed reasonably nice. I could see someone who loves restoring furniture having a grand old time in here. We got a decent table for only $9 that we plan on painting. They have a large selection of items in all their sections, including VHS tapes, clothes and vases. My husband and I plan on coming back often because the employees are kind and the items are great for a thrift store.

The store itself is ginormous and it was a tad overwhelming when I first walked in. After I stopped being intimidated by the store size I was able to get some great deals on things like laundry detergent and motion sensor lights for outside our home. I am looking forward to continuing to take advantage of the fantastic prices at Ollie's. I can see myself getting rugs and some more $10 bed sheets. I found a couple of Mission Oak footstools I would have loved to have bought, but they were in the $400-500 range - for a simple footstool. Shop is located in St. Joseph, which is traditionally a wealthy area (Whirlpool Corporation is here, so be sure to notice the who-needs-a-house-that-big mansions along the lakeshore if you drive by). St. Joseph is a tourist and summer home area for people with money. The furniture here is desirable, beautiful, and hard to find. Those factors create high prices that others can and will pay. As for we middle class types, we continue to rummage out of the way antiques shops in hopes of a lucky find.

The building is crammed full of surplus items they have picked up, so be prepared to search or ask one of the helpful staff. No telling what you'll find that you can't do without. Know that it is a SURPLUS store and things are not neatly organized on a shelf. But if you're willing to do a bit of searching there are treasures to find.

She had colorful hair and helped us find the smaller packs of batteries because we only needed two. The one thing I don't like about Dollar General is not everything is $1, making it not a true dollar store. It's hard to remember which places actually do have a price cap of $1 and which places don't. I remember Dollar General doesn't because i think in my head 'things are Generally a Dollar not always'. Overall, it's a decent Dollar General, but it is still a Dollar General and no longer the Family Video of my childhood.
