The Dollar Tree in Union Lake (on Cooley Lake Road) is typical of other Dollar Tree stores in terms of merchandise, but not in regard to their employees. Yesterday July 15, I went there for the 10% off day, but I forgot my coupon, but thought that it would be okay since it was called a 'Friends and Family Event' -- and the coupon did not say it was a coupon, more like a little flier or ad. When I checked out, they would not give me the 10% off, and the clerk said I needed the coupon to get the 10% off. She offered to have me talk to a manager, or come back with the coupon. I did go back to the store later that day, having also to return a purchase (Silver State Cheese -- it tasted very chemically and was bubbled on one side). I showed my receipt and asked for the 10% off my purchases, I also asked for a refund for the cheese. The clerk called the manager, who 1) Questioned that the cheese was bad; 2) Refused to give me the 10% refund.
"What is wrong with the cheese, it hasn't expired, it can't be bad," she said. And, "There is nothing I can do about the 10% off." She basically argued with me that she did not have to honor the coupon, and that the cheese was not bad. Instead of giving me the 10% off, and apologizing for the spoiled cheese product. Finally, she and the clerk had a discussion and she gave me $1.00 back for the cheese. No apologies or any courtesy at all. Very rude, unprofessional; it was like she enjoyed showing and using the little power she has over a simple, honest customer. Due to the poor treatment and service at this store, I will not shop at this particular Dollar Tree again. read more
