Dishonest: They try to keep their exorbitant tuition a secret until you take a bunch of lessons. The school is located in a basement by the N train Ditmars stop. I was greeted by a nice girl who agreed to let me watch the lesson in session. She refused to answer my question regarding the cost for classes, and insisted I would be provided with this information after I take 2 trial classes, so they can asses my abilities and assign me to the "right program". The class I watched had three students and two instructors, both black belt dan 2 (that's relatively low compared to other places). The students definitely got personal attention, but the instructors level/forms were not impressive. Maybe they were having a bad day. On the way out, the girl at the front desk asked if I want to sign up for the trial class. I was interested, but wanted to know what the tuition would be. I explained that I don't want to come for two trial classes if the tuition is beyond my budget. All she would say is that it would cost somewhere between $110-150/ month. When I asked how the tuition is calculated she repeated her whole spiel about the trial classes assessing what "program" I need. she could not explain what programs exist nor what the differences between them are. I started to loose my patients. I was sensing a scam. It became clear to me that she wouldn't give the prices for a reason. I asked her if I can speak with the owners, since I don't think they would want to loose a client just because she wouldn't tell the prices. The girl behind the counter gave up at this point and summoned her co-worker who was overhearing the conversation. The second girl was more helpful, but still would not provide prices. Only after I told her I'd walk out if they don't cut the bull, the truth came out. Two lessons a week, cost $180/ month in a month by month payment plan! No wonder they were so fanatical about keeping this exorbitant price a secret. Who in their right mind would pay $180 at this place?! read more

This school goes above and beyond in every way you can imagine. The instructors are kind, knowledgable and compassionate. Students learn focus, respect, discipline and control. This is a great school for kids as well as adults. There is a community/family feeling here. The tuition isn't cheap but it's worth every penny. Highly highly recommended! read more

Very dishonest. It's a scam system to take money from hard working families. If they don't make money from you every two months from all the belt ceremonies. And mind you the kids are not learning self defense or anything of that sort. The master himself doesn't care to teach any classes. Master Han is only seen harassing the parents for money every day. And he if you have concerns about your child, that's when he can't speak English. It's his excuse from hiding. He's doesn't care what level your child is, as long he gets money from each parent. It's very dishonest. They have hidden fees and your child is just a $$$money symbol to them. This place should be reported or investigated for scam. read more

If we realized how expensive it was going to be, we would have turned away after our $10 trial lesson. *Around $4,000 for the entire program for 1 child * $60 Belt testing fee (per child) x 14 belt test = $860 * Sparing Gear (which they claim you need but don't actually use) = $250 *Tournament fee (which they claim you must attend if you want to get your black belt)= $100 * Breaking Boards fee ($2 each board about 20 per month) x 24 months (likely more)= $960 (per child) *Black Belt Testing Fee: $590 (per child) Total Costs : $6,760 for 300 lessons. I began DomaTKD in January 2013, i went with a knowledge of martial arts such as Jeet kune do & Karate. So it was easy for me to adapt to this expensive 150$ per month classes. At first i liked it, i had an instructor named Daniel who was from another Taekwondo school and dislike very much the instructors in DOMA and i wondered why? well because the "instructors or helpers: were kids from 16-17 yrs old teaching adults, the master will not let you learn new stuff unless you pay your each month. As i said before i went with a knowledge of martial arts so i try to demonstrate my kicks and i saw and experienced bad reactions from DOMA staff, but i went on, also practiced at home which helped me develop kicks that a 1dan couldn't do. I got until purple belt and i did the "famous" 540 kick and yeah i realized i was better than them, no limits or rules so i stopped going. Instructor daniel also got out from DOMA, So basically if you want to learn really good stuff with out limits or rules i recommend Kickboxing, jeet kune do, muay thai, or another tkd school but with adult instructors. Dishonest. Buyer beware! The school is extremely expensive and the master doesn't even teach the class. The other children teach the class without Master or Adult supervision. The black belt club is $6000, the uniform is $80, the sparring gear is $500, the belt advancement ceremonies are $60 each, the breaking boards are $4 each and the tournament is $60 for your child only. When we signed up 2 years ago we justified the $$$ because Master Lee and Instructor Michelle actually taught the class. Now that Master Han has taken over it has all gone to crap. They now charge an additional $150 an hour to have the master instruct your child. Our concerns have landed on deaf ears. There are no open lines of communication. The master will say that his English isn't very good and it is very difficult to get a hold of Gran Master An. Whether you move, or your child looses interest they will not let you out of the contract. I deeply regret bringing my child to this Taekwondo school. Doma Taekwondo is just a very expensive child care facility. read more

We started our son three weeks ago and have been gratified at the relationship they are cultivating with him. My son is 3 1/2 yrs old and, typical of that age, he figits and loses interest but he gets a dedicated instructor at every class and is able to focus more every time he's gone. Students eagerly greet their instructors and older students attend the youngest ones at all classes and thereby better their own learning by teaching others. In addition, parents are encouraged to bring to the staff's attention any accomplishment your child has achieved outside the class, either in the home or at school, and they will present them with an Honor Student card. It's a fine incentive system that reinforces good behavior in other environments. You really can't ask for a more well-rounded experience. We initially had two free trial classes during a promotion period and after the second trial were walked through the pricing structure in detail. We paid up-front to bring our son up to purple belt; if he loves it we plan to let him continue. The price worked out to about $16/session and we are encouraged to come as often as possible, recommended is a minimum of twice weekly. Since we did pay up front we feel it's best for our son to go as often per week as our schedule allows in order for him to be able to more easily absorb his lessons without us thinking of the costs on a per week or per month basis. In the end, though, money was not our primary concern; we were looking for a place that would readily accept and enthusiastically teach our son and that's exactly what we found. read more

I am very disappointed with this place I paid more than two thousand dollars for my kids membership. I move to Long Island so my kids couldn't continue going to this place I ask if they could make a refund of the money or extend the membership to the following year, but they said no. They had 50 classes left and they extended only for one more month. All they want is your money be very careful before making payments to them. read more

You get what you pay for. My daughter is a black belt at Doma and it has been the best experience of her life. She has benefited not only physically but it has helped her in every aspect of her life. She has developed confidence, discipline and respect that extends far beyond the dojang. She is a straight A student and is always on honor roll. She was recently accepted into Hunter High School.
