I'm giving the Domain two stars because my first two years of living there went pretty well...then, Greystar took over. I'll skip over the small, nit-picky details in favor of the grand finale. During my senior year at WVU, the winter was especially cold in that we were in negative temperatures for a span of several days. Well, one evening the water in my bathroom sink stopped running. I put in a maintenance request, listed it as high priority, and moved along. The next evening it still wasn't working, I checked my maintenance request and it had been somehow downgraded in priority, so I gave maintenance a call. No one answered and since my tub still had running water it didn't fall under their guidelines for "emergency maintenance", so I left a message and that was that. At least until morning. I woke up to the small hiss I recognize as a water leak. So, dreading what I would see, I rolled over to look into my bathroom. My completely flooded third floor bathroom. I checked under the sink to turn off the water, but the leak wasn't there. We'd never been told where the shutoff for our unit was, so my next hope was to call emergency maintenance. No one answered. Next, I called the office. It was a Saturday at about 9:30, and there was no one in the office until 11, hence no one answered. Finally I called my parents, but I'd run through all the steps I could and just had to wait. Fast forward to say the water got turned off and a burst pipe was discovered. The same day, they proceeded to totally rip out my bathroom floor, vanity, and part of the wall. Then since the carpet in my bedroom also got wet, they did the same to my entire bedroom. Thus began the two month stent of me not having my own apartment during my senior year of engineering. I'll summarize those two months to keep it short: they paid for a hotel for three nights but then moved me into an 4 person apartment with two strangers (I had a three-bedroom with one other girl), ignored my complaints that the new place would bother my (severe) allergies and tried to blame my complaint on social awkwardness, wouldn't reduce my rent or electric bill despite the construction happening in my apartment while I crashed at a friend's place, and once I did move back in I discovered there was already a new leak coming from my toilet. The cherry on top was that when I moved out a few months later, I was charged $160 for "repairs" to my newly renovated apartment. Of course I contested this, was in communication with Greystar for about a month with the understanding they would be back in touch once the matter was settled, and heard nothing for months. I assumed the (unreasonable) charges had been dropped. Well, the new year started (I moved out in early July) and I got a "courtesy call" warning me the debt would be reported to a collector if the issue wasn't settled immediately. In the end, I got $30 knocked off the charges. That and a couple nights in a hotel was my compensation for a several-months' long ordeal, and I've heard the people on floors below me went through worse. Only stay here if you're willing to make the gamble you'll never have to interact with management. read more

I leased an apartment at Domain at Town Centre, managed by Greystar, and the experience was unacceptable from start to finish. Before move-in, I was told they needed an additional week to clean and prepare the unit. When I returned, the apartment was filthy. There were muddy shoe prints on the bedroom floor, visible debris inside drawers and cabinets, cracked and separating caulking around the bathtub, water staining under the sink, peeling plaster on the bathroom ceiling, stains all over the walls, uneven and discolored paint in mismatched shades, and heavily chipped paint on the doors and trim throughout the unit. It looked poorly maintained and cosmetically covered rather than properly prepared. When I brought these issues to the front office, I was told that units are not typically cleaned outside of student turnover season, which occurs during the summer months. That directly contradicted what I had been told prior to move-in. After reading many other reviews, it appears that tenants recurrently report receiving units that were not cleaned before move-in, which suggests this is not an isolated incident. The apartment was marketed and leased to me as "renovated," at a premium rental rate. The unit I received differed dramatically from the model I toured during the leasing process. I toured twice before signing. What was delivered did not resemble what was shown. During my tenancy, I began developing unexplained bumps and later discovered a bed bug in the unit. No tenant should encounter those conditions, particularly at this price point. Due to the condition of the apartment and the discrepancies between what was represented and what was delivered, I terminated my lease. After I vacated and formally revoked ACH authorization through my bank, the property attempted to debit my account anyway. The transactions were initiated under a different company name and WEB ID than my previous authorized payments, and they attempted to run the charge more than once. My bank flagged the activity as unauthorized and opened a claim. This was not a minor inconvenience. It reflected poor preparation standards, inconsistent representations, and deeply concerning billing practices. read more

This may come off as just a disgruntled tenant complaining, but please read this before renting from the Domain. These apartments are built very poorly, with cheap materials. Windows are drafty, seals are bad, washing machines are rusty as heck, etc. When I first moved in, I was in a four-bedroom with three other guys. The room was absolutely filthy, there were about 15 shades of tan paint on the wall, and there was mold all over the bathroom. Don't count on the office doing anything either, it's run by college students that will tell you, "the manager is out of the office" if you have a problem. The wifi on my side of the apartment was down from October until April when I moved out. I called both the office and the wifi company every week, for hours, trying to get it fixed and nothing was done. I had friends, who had their apartment flooded, because some maintenance guys burst a waterline. Ruined books, carpet, and floors. Mold everywhere and had to move into a different unit halfway through the school year. Oh, and the amenities they boast about on their website? Forget about it. The pool is normally closed half the summer because some goober dropped glass near the pool. The grills are usually filthy or busted. The coffee machine is always down. Need I say more? You would find this apartment complex under the definition of the phrase "LIPSTICK ON A PIG." And what's better is that they keep raising the rent or tacking on fees like "pool view" or "scenic view" god forbid your bedroom faces something other than asphalt. For the expensive rent, high utility costs, and additionally fees, you are better off renting literally ANYWHERE ELSE than at the Domain. They advertise it as some really nice, quality place, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. You can find similar apartments for hundreds of dollars cheaper that are higher quality than the Domain. I'm begging you, please read this and think twice about moving here. You will regret living here. read more

I lived here for the past four years, every year was perfect until my last. These apartments are not luxury and are built awful, from the power outages to the heating/cooling system, one room can be 80 degrees and another 65, when you put a work order in to "fix" it they'll come in and shut the vents lol. This past year we had so many issues and maintenance did the most piss poor job you can imagine. Our dryer was broken for THREE MONTHS and we had to put in over 10 work orders for them to finally get us a new one after "fixing" it multiple times. our fridge was leaking for months and when I put in a work order for it they didn't do anything until I started to get pissed off. After this we ended up with water damage on the baseboards in the kitchen and when I mentioned something to the office about it they said it was fine??? To top off my lovely experience here I was being charged over the four years I lived here for covered parking. I never had covered parking. over $400 thrown away and when I mentioned it to the office they said they would remove it from my account, go figure I got charged again for it the following month, I then said that I wanted a refund for it and was told that "the books for the past year closed so they couldn't do anything about the past years, but they'd give me $120. which I was fine with, got a check in the mail for $65 and when I called was informed that my roommate and I got charged $85 to fix the living room blinds..... THAT WERE NOT BROKEN. really wish I would have taken a picture, the blinds had a small piece of ductape on a single blade on the end and was like that when I moved in... they worked perfectly fine all 4 years I lived there. I know the girls that live there now and was made aware that the blinds were not changed or replaced. Let's also not forget that they have everyone do google reviews to win different events and items because they know their reviews are so low on other platforms they aren't worth saving. domain is the slumlord of apartment complexes and not worth the money. read more

RUN. DO NOT LIVE HERE. I had to be moved in the middle of the year due to safety concerns because of my roommates where I had to go to the police and I was forced to go from a standard 4x4 to a renovated 4x4 because "that's all they had" so my rent went from $410 to $700. We were suppose to get a renovated apt but instead we got a apt that was trashed it was painted bright green and yellow, had no doors in any of the bathrooms, was filthy dirty when we moved in with human feces on the wall, had damage on all the walls, never got all of the furniture that comes with the apt, had paint on the floors and ceiling, etc. Then when our lease ended and we gave back the keys they tried to make us sign saying we were liable for the damage that was done from the previous tenants (the green/yellows walls, damage to walls, etc) because that's the risk we took taking the apartment as is in the middle of the year when as I stated before we had no choice in taking that apartment because the manager himself was the one who put us into that apartment and it was supposedly the only apartment they had left for the current year and this coming fall which I don't believe. We knew the apt needed some TLC because that was his exact words but we didn't know how bad it was, we were promised it would be painted and cleaned by the manager but this was never done and when we asked when those things were going to be done and said we did not feel comfortable paying $700 for a renovated apt until it was actually renovated.. me and my roommate were told we could go back to our apt that we had to move from where we had safety concerns and had to get the police involved in the first place where I couldn't even go to the kitchen without our roommate trying to fight. The domain told me they do not guarantee safety, so if u are looking for a safe place for your child look else where because they do not care about their tenants and are not accommodating at all... all they care about is money. It's impossible to talk to the managers they hide behind the kids at the desk and tell you they will call you back then never call, problems never get resolved unless you plan to go in the office everyday or call them everyday and hassle them to get a solution to your problem. Every month random charges would be on my account labeled as "rent" for no reason and I would have to go down to the office and get it removed and the office workers couldn't tell me what it was about. They were constantly messing up things on my account and the workers never had any idea what they were talking about, no one knows how to do their job and their was constantly an issue with them, AVOID THIS PLACE. read more

Get everything in writing. Dirty, uncleaned room upon move it date, had to get kids who run the office to get their maintenance to clean. Managers also hide behind kids working in front office coffee and copy machine always had issues. Had to escalate problems to greystar management due to managers non involvement. Moved out and demanded to relinquish my contract due to breach of contract. read more

The internet service in building 10 has been non-functional for nearly 20 days. We have contacted the "third party" DAILY and each time they close, downgrade or provide excuses for not correcting. I've contacted the main office where they used language like "our vendor" but expect residents to solve the problem without any assistance. They are absent minded, unhelpful and simply unconcerned. read more

Living at the Domain was a nightmare. The staff is rude. Management is greedy and charges for no reason. They once charged my roommates account 150 dollars. When she asked what it was for they said "they didn't know and she should just pay it". They charged me 80 dollars when I moved out for cobwebs that I could not reach on the ceiling. The Wifi never worked.They threw away my 50 dollar router. Tried to charge us for a noise complaint when we repeatedly told them we were not the culprits. The gym equipment is broken. read more

Where do I start? Do not live here. Ever. Unless you're okay with hearing the people above, below, and beside you. We hear footsteps from above, music from below, and shouting next door. They charge you a billing fee just to pay your electric bill. They don't have rules posted at the pool so when ppl break them they just close down the pool. The rent is outrageous for the cheap quality of everything in the apartment. The furniture is cheap, carpet is disgusting, floors and kitchen appliances are sad. There are paint spots everywhere on the floor from when they painted the walls (hello drop cloths exist). They do not inspect or clean apartments before new residents move in. Maintenance took forever to fix our fridge when it was repeatedly freezing our food when it shouldn't be and melting our freezer randomly. 5+ outlets don't work in our kitchen and living area. When my roommates and I first moved into the Domain, we moved into a beyond filthy apartment that was covered in dirt, dust, and pet fur and had to spend over $100 in cleaning supplies to clean up the mess, which should have been cleaned before we moved in. Some of my roommates are highly allergic to cat fur, and it took a while to get all of the fur out of the couches, floors, vents, etc. We also had an issue where our Wi-Fi was out for well over a week, and we received no communication or updates from the Domain, and had to make the trip to the front office to get updates ourselves on when the wifi would be working again. With my roommates and I all being in college, we needed access to wifi to work on schoolwork, and it was completely unacceptable to have to travel elsewhere every time we wanted to access the Internet on our laptops. I asked the front office if I could have the contact information of the property manager so that I could express my concerns, and I was told that their manager has "no direct contact information." What manager has no way to reach them? Overall, just extremely disappointed with how the Domain management handles any issues. Recommend taking your money elsewhere to find an apartment. read more

They waste money trying to recruit tenants while not giving out gift cards promised upon signing leases ...from a year ago! I lived here for two years, and I would never recommend living here to anyone. The apartment that my roommate and I moved into was absolutely disgusting when we moved in. There were nail clippings and pee on the floor in my bathroom, paint splatters all over the floors, mold in the showers, and a sock and smashed skittles in the couch. We just recently moved out, and it was the worst experience. They overcharge you for absolutely everything they possibly can, and if you find someone ON YOUR OWN to sublease your apartment, you still have to pay over $300 just to sublease it over. These apartments are overpriced and disgusting. The pool and gym were also dirty, covered in bandaids, hair, and dirt. Would not recommend. read more

Please do yourself a favor and live somewhere else. The apartments are aesthetically nice, but extremely overpriced. There is minimal insulation, so in the winter the bedrooms are at least ten degrees colder than what the heat is set at making it almost unbearable to be in your bedroom. You can hear absolutely everything from the apartments above and beside of you. The wifi is absolutely terrible and has not been working in the clubhouse has not been working for 4+ weeks. They turned off the wifi in everyone's apartment for testing throughout the day two weeks ago and did not notify anyone (which is extremely inconvenient due to classes being online). The wifi is overall terrible. The coffee machine in the clubhouse was nonfunctional until this month. Many of the listed amenities on the website are nonexistent (or at least are at this time). Residents here are treated like children and are not notified of any issues, such as WiFi testing, the wifi being out at the apartments for the entirety of winter break, the power going out over winter break, status updates on amenities... It is a decent place to live but don't believe the hype. The lease says WiFi is included but it's complete trash. As I am typing this, the WiFi isn't working at all. This seems to be a regular occurrence and is very inconvenient considering most (if not all) of the people who live here are college students so we need access to the internet. Yes you get a TV in your living room but ours does not change channels so my other roommates just play with their Xboxes and PlayStation. They did change management so a few of the things initially offered and included with your rent were pulled back so you had to get it on your own (i.e. renter's insurance). Also the shuttle tracker app is trash as well because it tells you when the shuttle is scheduled to be at the stop and not when it is actually there. If you use it you will always miss it. It's especially horrible after about 6:30 pm. So if you are like me and have most of your classes into the evening, you will wait 40 minutes for a shuttle to come around. It also doesn't run on the weekends unless there is a game so if you have work to do on campus during the weekend, you have to figure out the public transportation. Maintenance does come in a timely manner and resolve any issues you have which is cool. There is a pool but they closed it after labor day weekend and reopened it when the weather got colder. The gym is small but if you aren't planning too fancy a workout it's convenient. Heat/AC is good. My bathroom and bedroom were not clean when I moved in and apparently neither was the kitchen according to my roommates who moved in before me and we had to pay $25 to the post office to get our mailbox keys changed because Domain does not collect the key from the previous occupants. We do have our own bathrooms which is amazing and solves 60% of any potential roommate issues we may have. It's just really annoying you aren't allowed to have your own router but their routers obviously don't work. Even the move in packet didn't have complete phone numbers (each number missed a digit) and the main phone didn't work for like the first 2-3 weeks after move in so you couldn't call anybody. It's an okay place to live just keep in mind if you have a late schedule and don't have a car or do work at home or even stream movies on your computer it will be somewhat of a struggle.
