I have came here numerous times with my daughter for blowouts and decided I would finally try this place out for myself. I went on a Friday and was there when it opened at 9. There is no parking on Hilton St directly in front of the shop, but you can park on the residential streets in the area, which is a quick walk to the salon. As my hair is natural (free of chemicals) I wanted a blowout of my natural hair. The cost for just that is okay, more for longer hair, but when you start piling on the extras, that's when the cost creeps up. Cut/trim, rinse/color, deep conditioners, relaxers.....you get my point. The shop was hygienically clean with separate areas for shampooing, drying and styling. As this is a Dominican salon, the workers are Dominican and as such, speak Spanish, which can be rather rude at times (They talked loud and non-stop; I deducted a star because of this). My blowout was great and as I am on day 3, it is holding up well. You also have a choice of a roller set as well. Beware...the blowout process is not for the faint of heart as the heat of the blowdryer can be vicious at times, but beauty knows no pain! All in all, a good place to go for a nice blowout. read more

I went to get my hair done yesterday. While I was getting my hair washed the shampoo girl somehow turn the hose on me and soaked my whole backside. I understand that accidents happen but it was the response from the owner that threw me off. They apologized but at the same time told me it was my fault because I'm tall. I'm quite sure I'm not the first tall woman to get her hair done at this establishment. So now not only is my hair wet my jacket and shirt were soaked. When I was done I went to pay and the receptionist told me it was $56. I asked were they going to take anything off since the shampoo girl soaked my clothes? I was told no. So I put $30 on the counter and then the receptionist said something to the owner in Spanish. The owner proceeded to approach me in a very aggressive manner telling me I should have asked for a discount and don't give her attitude. I told her you should have offered me a discount because of your staffs negligence and I'm not paying anymore money. She was very loud and indignant. I told her she could call the police if she liked but I wasn't paying another cent. She cursed me and told me to leave. I left but they will never have to worry about me again. It's crazy I've been coming here on and off since I was a teenager. read more

I have natural hair and didn't want to pay $50+ to get it done. I saw good reviews on the internet so I decided to try them. They have a very organized shop with numbers. I had my hair washed, deep conditioned, and pin curled for $35. That is really good. I would recommend visiting the salon. Standard doobie shop inside but they definitely get the job done. I enjoy going here for the same reasons as the previous post. The manager has the salon running smoothly. You arrive... they give you a number... you go the shampoo bowl... next to the hair rolling station/dry... once your hair is dry to the stylist for a blowout/pincurl/wrap and you're out the door within 2 hours if your get a deep condition for just $35-45!!! If the salon is super busy, you are looking at three hours. For the past year, each visit is the same. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! .... Side note: they take cash only. read more

I live in the Washington D.C. area but my youngest daughter goes to college in this area so we were on a lookout for a salon near her to take care of her hair care needs. My oldest daughter (a real diva, us not so much, so i knew it must be a good place) recommended them and I have been taking her there every since. And sometimes I get my hair done there too. I have always found them to be courteous, respectful, attentive (no sitting there for long periods of time unattended) with reasonable prices (compared to salons in DC area) and just all around great service! the owner acted kind of snobby, and also doesn't seem to mind wasting people's time, which was all very off-putting. I don't know if that's how everyone gets treated, or if it was racism, or what it was. Either way, it's not okay with me. The reason they get two stars instead of one, is because she was not threatening and confrontational with her attitude. It felt more like I could burn in Hell right in front of her eyes and she really wouldn't care... as long as there wasn't money in my pocket. While the service is pretty fast (due to ladies that roller set quickly-good job) I understand the need for straight roots, especially if it's too soon for a relaxer..... I have to say that the integrity of hair ISN'T met at a high standard. WAYYYYY TOO MUCH HEAT, and to add insult to injury NO HEAT PROTECTION before blowing hair out. When I asked for it, a "Just for Me" hair product which was a detangler was attempted to put on my hair. I took my 84 year old mother to the Dominican Beauty Center on January 5, 2017 to get her hair done. I am giving this salon a one star because, as a first time client we were a little uneasy with the professional services that my mother received. First, her hair was washed and than placed on rollers, next Julian removed the rollers and blew dried my mother's hair with a very hot blow dryer which burned her scalp, than Julian used a flat iron to get the hair straight. She also burned my mother's ear with the flat iron. The bad part was these women spook Spanish to one another which I find to be very disrespectful. you are servicing English speaking client than one would think they would too, nope didn't happen. It was raining on that day so they wrapped her hair and left the hair pins in place, so that once my mother got home she wrap her hair with a silk scarp so we didn't really get to see her hair until the next day and her hair was a total mess. When she comb it down it didn't have an style at all, we tried to flat iron it again to no avail. I like to warn people who may have an older mother about this experience. The products the stylist used on my mother's hair was not a professional brand, just plan products that you or I could purchase ourselves. This salon is in need of a leader who has the training to lead a professional team. read more
