First thing very offensive. (African - Americans are not flocking to the Dominican salon to get their hair done. Black woman (that also includes BLACK DOMINICANS and other AfroLatinas: are actually trying to keep their curl pattern in tack. - another case of Dominicans not realizing how black they are. - This is offensive and needs to be rewritten. I've been to Dominican Design once and I was very happy with my experience. I'd read many reviews for almost a year prior to booking my first appointment. I was pleased to know that this salon was able to work with different hair textures. I wish I'd requested a trim as well but I was more than pleased with my wash, roller set and blow which was no different than those that I'd received back home in Brooklyn. I don't put heat to my hair often but I'd come back to D&D as I believe it'd definitely help me retain length. Maggie has been doing my hair now for over a year and I would not go anywhere else. When I came to her my hair was damaged from color and chemical treatments and was falling out. She had to cut it down to about a few inches and I stopped getting relaxers. My hair has now grown back past my shoulders and is healthier than ever. She has her clients in and out of her shop in under 2 hours unless we are getting color or other chemical treatments. I highly recommend you give her a try. read more

First I'm not from Vegas, so I googled and this salon was one of the first to pop up for Dominican Salons. I called and left 2 messages as I anxiously awaited them to open at 10am and called again! I spoke with a lady, I explained that I would like to get an appointment this morning, she stated they were booked until April; saddened by the news I informed her that I wasn't from Vegas but needed my hair done today and could she recommend another Dominican salon. She wasn't helpful at all, told me to look up another one and then added she didn't know of any other salons, which I knew was untrue. It was disappointing that they were book, but the lie that followed just put a bad taste in my mouth and caused me to write this review. Customer service is everything!! read more

Reply to comment by owner: the customer was my daughter. She normally wears her hair natural and we take good care of it. I purchased a gift cert and gave it to my daughter. I did not know of her negative experience that day. All I remember was her coming home and thought wow she looked pretty. This was many months ago. Yesterday she told me she wanted another roller set and blow out for her college graduation in May and I said no problem I'll buy you another gift cert from Dominican Design she said " Hell No!That lady made me feel bad about my hair" I asked her more questions about that appt and she said she thinks it was the owner, she described you and I showed her your Instagram and confirmed that was you. The words she said you used that offended her was "bad, dry & hard." Which her hair is none of those things. 1) there's no such thing as bad hair 2) she deep conditions it regularly and uses oils. I believe her and she didn't say something before because she didn't want me to be upset. I decided to leave a review today because this is infuriating. I dealt with this pelo malo or pajon crap all of my life and yes that is definitely part of our Dominican culture. Please don't act surprised. No amount of 5 stars on your Yelp can take away from the way she was made to feel when she left your salon. It may not have been your intention to insult her, but you did. No I do not need to contact you privately. This review is all that is needed to make you aware of your actions . Original comment: Im giving 2 stars cause the blow out was done well but the next time you have a young person in your chair maybe don't say negative things about their 4C hair leaving them feeling insulted. I have tries several salons in Vegas and by far theis is the best. I am not finished with my appointment and I am writing this review. I love the decor. Everyone is soooo nice. Upon entering we were immediately greeted with a warm smile and hello. acknowledged our presence even though she was with another client. That's amazing customer service. I arrived late for my appointment due yo traffic and coming from Henderson, they still took us both. I love the fact that they do natural hair. My daughter's hair can be a bit much to handle and they seem to know exactly what to do. The shampooer is amazing! Ada is amazing. She is by far the best shampooer is have ever had. Many shampooers tend to be VERY heavy handed, but Ada has gentle hands. Why I haven't found this place sooner is beyond me. I am very satisfied with my appointment. Found this place on Google and they were able to fit me in same day which was exciting. My hair: I'm African American who's been "natural" for the past 5 years. I love color so I tend to stay away from relaxers. My hair is very thick and curly with lots of tangles. As soon as we walked in, we were treated very well, the process for my mom and I was about 2.5 hours, which was pretty good, because Maggie was extremely busy.
