Very unprofessional , had appointment scheduled at 10 am today , I messaged her in the morning that I am running 5 min late ,she replied that she is running 5 min late too . I got to the salon at 10.03 am, the receptionist said that Elena is running late as always ... I just wanted to start by saying she was extremely professional, kind and took her time to make sure the service exceeded my expectations. Sonia - one of the space renters - an absolutely unprofessional, money hungry "stylist" who cannot even do a root cover up. $85 to cover up my grays and left gray hairs showing all along my part. She said "there's an area in the front that didn't cover but the rest covered up nicely". Excuse me!?!? The front area in my part is gray but that's ok? For $85. My whole part had grays showing. What a joke. How does this lady have any clients? By the looks of her own hair I should have known she doesn't really care about how hair looks. And tries to be accommodating by having me come in again as if I don't have a life and a job. Go back to beauty school Sonia. I went to Mekiala because a previous acquaintance of mine was getting a hair consultation from her, so I thought I'd ask her how much it would cost to get me platinum. I ended up scheduling an appointment with her. After she did my hair, there was yellow all through my roots and she tried to let me leave the salon like that until I suggested she do something. She put a toner in my hair (ash I think) and I thought it would grow on me but after two days I was upset because this isn't what we had discussed. I sent her a message and was very nice about it and told me that she would fix it. She scheduled me to come back in two weeks later. She did a highlift on my hair because she mentioned using bleach wouldn't be good again. My hair was burning in the back & I thought that was because I had itched my hair before I came in for the appointment. I let her know it was burning but it wasn't unbearable, & she assured me that my hair wouldn't fall out. After she washed & styled my hair I was really happy because I was finally platinum!! I washed my hair 3 days later only for chunks to start falling out. I immediately FaceTimed her & she called me back & told me to come in that day for a treatment. I literally had tears in my eyes & she didn't even say sorry!! She said that I was going to need treatments for a while. I asked her if she could put extensions in my hair so that I don't have to go out in public like this & she informed me that I would have to buy them & she would charge me to install them. I thought this was absurd because she is the reason my hair fell out. It wasn't that I wanted extensions, I just didn't want my hair to look bald when I'm out in public. So I felt it was only right for her to fix my hair at any means necessary. I would expect that from any hairstylist if they are the ones who damaged your hair. So I expressed to her that I didn't feel that was right, but I was trying to make this the least bit confrontational as possible which is why I came in twice to let her do the treatments and never filed a lawsuit. I felt like there was no point in arguing if she wasn't going to make it right, then the least she could do was treatments. I originally wanted to go to the state board and the owner of this establishment as well as sue her but I didn't want to take the time and effort. I was trying to go the route that would cause me the least amount of stress because I was already depressed about my hair. Fast forward to now; I feel like I've been too nice about this whole situation and she should've sympathized and empathized more since she is the one that caused this. I sent her a message on FB which I'm going to attach, & as you can see I'm not being rude or anything. I'm just expressing to her that this whole thing is really bothering me. She then informed me that because I got my hair professionally done by someone else after her, that she would no longer do treatments on my hair. I was told by several hairstylists that because my hair was so porous that putting a semi dye on it would help moisturize it & help seal the hair follicles. She offered to dye my hair for a discount when my hair got "healthier" but there was no way I was going to let her touch my hair besides the treatments. My hair is already feeling better since I've had the semi dye that was recommended to me by other stylists. Again, I finally came out & expressed to her how this whole thing made me feel & how I wish she would apologize and empathize with me & she did nothing but be rude, unprofessional and not accountable. In the picture I attached, you see where she states she knew my hair was damaged. I am not the hair professional, so in no way this was my fault. She tells me that I insisted; she knew my hair was damaged and she let me "insist" on it? I'm sorry but that sounds insane!! Again I understand mistakes happen & in the message I sent to her yesterday I told her I would be more inclined to forgive her if she apologized but she shows no remorse for what she did. Instead she tries to blame me, and then brings up things that I post on Facebook that have nothing to do with the fact that she made my hair fall out. And as you can see, that it's not the way a professional should talk to you ever. I've read her reviews and she seems to have all positive reviews. It got me thinking that maybe because she simply made a mistake, that she's afraid to admit it because this has NEVER happened to her. And I completely understand all of this. But all I am saying is be accountable for YOUR actions and make it right. If I made someone's hair fall out I would do everything and anything possible regardless if it came out of pocket, because I was the one that caused the damage. That's what ANYONE should do. I realize that all of your experiences may be different than mine, and this isn't to bash her either. I am giving my honest review of what happened to me!! read more
